‘Indy Romp’, Day 3 *final day*

So… Day 3. It was possibly the most ridiculous (and the most revealing) of all the three days. Logged back in the pen, yet I was against one of the stone walls with no idea how or why I got there (maybe some kind of player position glitch by the server.. thankfully I wasn’t IN the wall).
The guy that sold me the horse was not on, and I feared I would have to wait all day for him to return. Decided to ask kchat if anyone knows this guy and knows when (or if) he’ll be back on.. got the silent treatment instead. Then I asked Global Kchat. This got a bit rough of of a response to “not buy branded horses”. Another one said that they usually go for 50c for 5-speeds (indicating this guy ripped me off).
But before I could respond to them that the horse wasn’t branded, the guy logged in. I quickly told him that you need to set perms, but he wouldn’t respond. I assumed his client was still in the ‘loading world’ state, which would explain why he didn’t respond. So I waited a bit and said hey again, and that time he responded.
He said exactly what I thought, that he didn’t know that horses had their own permissions. But he had things he had to deal with, so I waited. As I did, I got PMed by ‘Pashka’ who asked me where the guy lives, and I told them that he’s on and we’re dealing with the issue.
Sadly, it went down to him giving me back my 1.5s and having no 5-speed (as that was ‘easier’ on him instead of just giving me back 1s and setting perms). But he said over and over how he was new at this. He even proved it by not knowing how the bank system works of the token. Had to tell him how it works, and I got the 1.5s back. I even gave him some advice, of monitoring prices of horses to prevent this from happening again.
He accepted it, thanking me. And I went West to continue following the southern coast. It’s a shame we couldn’t make a fair deal, but I knew 1.5s was a bit too much. Though he claimed that “i heard 5 speeds go for 50 to 3 s also”. Yet Global Kchat told me “normally 5 speeders sell 50copper a piece”.
Well.. I guess I’m stuck with Flashsilver (until I get back home).

Finally made it to the point I could go West no further. “Calli” was in my local, and I asked them how do you get to Kinoss Bay (thinking there’s a road not on the map). But it turned out to having to go back to a town named ‘Port Monito’ and look for a north road to take me around the mountain to the East. Found the road still intact. I took a huge breath and went for it. Ran into a bear and a spider (both dead by my sword). This lead me through a thick forest on a one-lane road. Fun fun. I remember angry teasing me about these, because they had the most risk of a mob near the road.
Using the map, I needed to worm my way to the East side of Kinoss Bay and then follow the road North to the ‘West Coast Highway’.
But first, I had to survive the horrors of the forest. And what horrors it had for me. Though thankfully, bless Rolf for guard towers. Was this area where I was kind of near one, I see two trolls. One of them sees me and starts to run over. I run up this one road and get to the tower with the troll behind me, and then a hellhound shows up. Tell the guards to deal with the troll while I deal with the hellhound, and the plan works perfectly. As I’m getting ready to go loot the corpses, a bear and a wolf show up. FUN! 😀
Tell the guards to deal with the bear while I deal with the wolf. Finally managing to heal up, I manage to kill a spider who’s lurking near the tower. Yet I knew I wasn’t safe; still needed to get to the coast. Halfway up this one road which the map says will connect to the coast, I had a wolf to deal with.
Encountered another abandoned village with a guard tower. Thankfully I never needed it and managed to get to the highway next to Kinoss Bay! I survived the horrors of the forest! Though there would be even more surprises much later.
Started going north. Ran into a hellhound. Glad I brought this plate armor as it saved my life.
Made it to the West Coast Highway (same highway I was on in 2016, but not this far west). Next stop is to visit a familiar town with a familiar name; Akhenaten. For those that aren’t in the know, this town, angry and I used to live with a guy named ‘Flinter’ (but in JK-H back in 2009).
Making my way to the connector highway, I had the occasional wolf and bear to deal with. Nothing all that troublesome, and made it to the connecting road. Made it to the town no problem. Last time I visited this place was early 2010, and the town itself looks unchanged. The only change is the docks (with a few crocks being in the way).
With Sol down (and being at the end of the pier), I logged out to start typing this post. Though I didn’t have much time as RL was getting in the way (and so was Sol rising again). Got back in, expecting one of those two annoying crocks to be trying to pull me into the ocean, but I had no mobs around me.
As Sol rose, fog started to form (and wouldn’t stop). Tried to make my way back to the town to get to the guard tower (incase if it gets too thick and fog spiders start to spawn). Managed to outrun the first crock, but the second one scared the crap out of me by attacking without warning. Managed to get away, though.
When I made it to the town, I noticed the fog thinning out. Thank goodness. Trolls are bad enough.. but not being able to see the next tile infront of me (where all I see is gray) is worse.
Continued southbound in hopes to see more cool stuff (and make it to the SW corner of the server). Made it across the bridge, of the canal that B2 went through to get to the Impalong). Rest of the journey was pretty safe, as I made it around one town and to the end of the road (of a large man-made flatraised section). Not to mention, it was in a serious need of repair. So many missing fences, and I was able to go around them and onto this huge flat land. Three people were in my local here. Introduced myself and they were kind of friendly. Though one of them said about farming here if I need to, and I said how I was just exploring/hunting. Then the guy left and so did I.
Tried to head back up north to get to the true SW edge of the server (as there’s a mountain in my way). On the map, there’s a road tunnel connecting to an area that B2 told me would be a good place for another Impalong. It’s this weird-sounding town name. Think it’s in German or some other language.

Anyway, I was heading for said road tunnel. Troll infront of me. Got the guards on it and now it’s dead. Got to the tunnel and went through. Was a black bear and I was able to outrun it. As I approach the end of the tunnel, I saw a familiar name in my local. Someone I kind of wish I didn’t; ‘Whykillme’. He lives here.
And the reason why I wish I didn’t, is that one side of my brain started clicking. I felt I “had him right where I wanted him” to make someone ‘pay’ for the death of my dragon.
So I asked him a ‘personal’ question, of where he would had kept her if I never did. He seemed to refuse to answer my question, then goes AFK(without saying anything) as I continue to ask him questions. I even told him how I’ve been looking for the whereabouts of the other two dragons. Though at this time I didn’t even know he was AFK– I assumed he was attempting to ignore me (in order for me to just give up).
Yet I finally was about ready to admit defeat and leave the area, then he said he “was afk :P”, and told me how I would never know if there was a dragon there with any standard deed I might see. In other words, it would had never been obvious (like I saw with Erik the Red being publicly displayed).

Then he tells me “the red dragon will have a slaying soon”. Curious, I asked how does he know this, and he said it’s because he’s organizing a fight to kill it. In order words…he knows where the red dragon is being kept. He also has the black dragon hatchling under lock and key.
He said “a random player” contacted him after penning the red dragon. Asked him if I’m to assume the name of this person and the location of the dragon is to remain unknown, and it was an obvious ‘yes’. Now I could’ve been a total dick and informed everyone that this guy has the two remaining dragons on Indy, but without knowing the locations of them, it would be pointless. Plus..I’m not a dick. There was a reason Garit never told me that this guy has the dragons.

And then I said something rather stupid, asking him if he’s such a fan of dragons(as what people were telling him in Global Kchat one day), then how come he doesn’t have ‘dragon’ in his name. Says how “my name is older than yours”…I find that hard to believe (especially if he even knows me from way back), but it’s also possible that he could’ve played in JK-H. He even asked me how old I was. Fantastic… probably thinks I’m some kind of 10 year old (well, that’s the age of my IQ anyway).
Asked him two other questions. First one being of why does he enjoy slaying them if he likes dragons so much. He gave another obvious answer of “gives more fun in the game :)” ..Ohh *facepalm* & myself
The second, non-dragon question I had for him, is if he owned this strange-named village. Says he co-owns it with two other people. And with that (and looking like a complete retard infront of him), I left by saying “I won’t take too much more of your time” and “I have more places to explore.”

Oy. That was not fun. But it didn’t end there. I sent him a PM, asking if the red dragon was a male or a female. He claims “all dragons are male”. I countered by saying “The one I had was a female”, and he counter-claims by saying “it wasn’t a dragon, it was a hatchling”. Well excuuuuuuse ME for not knowing my shit.
But this is what I know now (from him);
1. Thinking I had to have a deed similar to how Erik the Red was displayed, there was no need. I did need a deed, but it just needed to look like any typical deed. And from where she was, was rather impossible (however it would had also made people not think there was a dragon in there). So she was fine where she was, which proves even more that Cybaru and Jax were both lying to me.
2. Dragon hatchlings are female and lay eggs, and dragons are male(according to him).. which is so messed up. But that’s also to assume that hatchlings are like chickens and can lay eggs without needing a male. And I believe Renny told me that the reason they keep the males is for their scales(that wasn’t supposed to rhyme).

So with the red dragon to be slain ‘soon’ (should had asked when), it seems the poor thing ‘outlived its usefulness’. Then again, it’s just a NPC who has no real feelings(just like any other mob in this game), with its only thought being “kill player”. It’s sad that NPCs can’t feel emotions like we can (even real animals). And the reason why this is only happening to me, is this came from WoW and games before it. My brain is having trouble trying to understand that not all games have scripted NPC emotions (where they feel.. real to me).
All Wurm is, is just one big grindy (but also rewarding) mess and that’s it. The only real NPC interaction is through hunting them like the single-thought mobs they are. Even real life animals have emotions, and the dev team couldn’t do it (except “this guy is bad, you must kill it, but these guys are nice, but you can kill them if you wish. They won’t talk to you.”

So yes, that’s why I’ve been acting. It’s not because something in my mind snapped and I’ve gone full-on mental, it’s…I expected more. I see a dragon near me, I expected it to feel what I was trying to do, instead of trying to eat me just like any other mob in the game.
And in my opinion, they should make it just not possible to pen a dragon(or a hatchling). Mine door or whatever, it should find a way out. That way these trappers would be forced to have them killed instead of having a chance to harvest them for eggs and scales (like cattle), and then kill them later on. But that would make people bitch and whine and cause the price of scales to go through the roof.
Then…come up with another kind of armor that you can only get when you kill a dragon, which would make it pointless to trap them!

I… *sigh* I’m just going to stop and continue with this, as I do have more to say. I’m sorry. Having owned a dragon in this game has really changed my perspective on the Wurm community.
Moving on. After I got done with that conversation, I felt it was time to return home by heading back up North(seeing there was roads ahead of me going all the way up to roads I remember of Oceanside Retreat). Having explored all that I could, returning home was the only option I had left.

Went back to the bridge, and there’s now a hellhound stuck on it. So mobs will actually get stuck if they spawn on a bridge (as I found out during the Impalong).
Decided to take advantage and tried to kill this spawn from Jackal. Was forced to run off as I got a really, really nasty wound (29.97.. nearly a ‘Bad’) I was forced to use one of the healing covers that B2 ‘borrowed’ from the Impalong in order to get it healing. Went back and killed the hellhound without any more trouble.
FUCK me! For being able to bite through plate, that hellhound had a can opener on them! Fortunately the wound healed enough for me to go back to normal hunting.
Followed the West Coast Highway towards ‘Tennakill'(as what the sign said). Again, bears, spiders, and wolves falling to me. Got to a guard tower in the middle of the forest. Noticed a family of 4 ‘aged slow wild cat’ around the tower. Decided to wipe them off the face of Wurm by killing them all (I’m so heartless).

At this point of the journey, the West Coast Highway enters a semi-abandoned deed (just the outskirts). I turn North and follow the roads. Suddenly, it’s like hell once again opens up above me. Two trolls, two hellhounds, a wolf, a spider were ALL after me. No guard towers for miles, it’s night, and all I see are roads going up. I said to myself “yep.. I’m dead. Fuck me”. It was the worse case scenario. But what had been even worse was my cable modem’s connection going out. Thankfully it never did.
Yet despite Flashsilver being a 4-speed, she managed to stay ahead of the pissed off conga line of mobs following me. Up and down slopes we went, around the Western side of the server the mobs kept in hot pursuit of me and my horse. Occasionally the fuckers managed to lay the smackdown on my health bar. As I started to close in to Tennakill, half of the mobs had backed off the chase except for a troll and the two hellhounds. Great. The two types of mobs I don’t wish to fight are following me.
Reached a part where it started to go downhill, and it was like Flashsilver also wanted to get the fuck out of there and kicked on it. Managed to outrun the troll, but the two hellhounds were still following us. But eventually we reached a mostly downhill part and the hellhounds backed off, leaving us alone. Holy FUCK!! I dodged death once again! 😀
Made it to Tennakill. Was able to stop and let Flashsilver catch her non-existing breath while I checked my wounds. Shockingly nothing serious! Yet I’m now getting quite low on cotton (had 9.10 kg of the 20.00 kg I took with me, left). All there was left to go now is the Great Western Desert.

It’s still night as I made it to the desert no problem. Was getting close to dinnertime when I saw a public inn nearby. Went into it, as it would be safe haven for me when waiting for Sol to rise (and to eat dinner). Came back as Sol rose over the NW horizon and left the nice inn. Managed to get some sleep as well. After what I just went through, sleep is good…
So now I’m on semi-familiar roads I used to get to this area (in early 2016). I’m to go around the Western Wall and finally to the town where the guy I first met mentioned (“Stone Rose”).
Made it to ‘Bird Hill’ (which is now abandoned). It’s the first time we tried to test the new bank (after I had it enchanted by that nice person from Deliverance) by B2 going there and sending me something. Was able to check out that new canal in the Western Wall. All that was left to do was, as I said, follow the shore back home. Also made it to the southern bay (that’s south of my place). And wow does it look different when on horseback.
Finally I arrived at Stone Rose. The place still exists. Though I started to get lost again, with the roads once again not matching up to what I’m seeing on the map. Also had a hellhound behind me with no guard tower anywhere. Managed to lose it in a forest (while going downhill). Then I finally found the roads on the map, and made it to the center of the town. It’s quite lovely with its 3-wide roads with trees in the middle. Had another troll, a fierce wolf, and a scorp to deal with. The troll was quite a problem, as the guards took forever to “runs to the rescue”, but it got dealt with.

With them all dead, I followed the NW coast. Saw the clay mound ahead of me (and the top of my guard tower). Just inches from home. But I had to go up towards the area where…she died. Thankfully I didn’t have to go all the way and took the ‘road’ (that I personally removed before leaving in order to once again remove the ‘ghosts’), and made it back home…safe and sound.
Took Flashsilver to her pen and hopped off. Feeling exhausted, I went over to my new house and put the backpack of the plate armor back in the coffin. Going by the damage, it really got a work out.

With the ‘Indy Romp’ now done, I’m still going to try to get a new 5-speed horse (to use either as my main horse instead of Flashsilver), or just get her replaced. She saved my life, and this is what I do to her. And it’s not really her fault that she will go from galloping to suddenly going 12.24km/h for no reason.
I need a more reliable horse. Not to mention I should also look into getting the items that Flashsilver had, enchanted with WoA (as that will make the horse even faster from what I’ve read).
Yet, there’s also another feeling. Why bother with that now, when I’m done with my ‘Indy Romp’? I’ve explored all that I can (except for the Central and South East side of the server, due to what I was told and the Rift being there). But one reason is to use it if I’m ever going to start actually hunting (to work on my FS) instead of exploring. But from what I got, my FS went up from.. 15, to 35. That, is impressive. Maybe one day I’ll get it to 50 or so and actually help out with the Rift event. It beats having to sit at a forge all day and grind.

And with that, I shall close this adventure. My next adventure will be to explore every server (by boat and by foot) of the Freedom Isles. When I’ll do it, I haven’t decided on a date yet (as it’ll take much longer, and depends on so many factors(such as if it’s foggy, if I’m able to borrow a 5-speed on that particular server to get around faster, server (and cable modem) reliability, real life getting in the way, how I’m doing on food, and stuff like that)).

Right now, I think I’m kind of done with Wurm (for now). This trip has taken a lot out of me (plus the whole dragon thing), and I deserve to take a break. Perhaps (which I haven’t been doing for the last two months), I might get back into reviewing games to hopefully restore some of my reputation with you guys.
I understand if you can’t stand to bare seeing my words anymore. Don’t really blame you.
