Today has been the opposite of what you would expect for a Friday the 13th. I’ve had alot of good luck today.
It started as another round of leveling, slowly closing in on that ever-wanting Level 77. I’ve been questing nonstop in Dragonblight.
Soon, when I was like 99% into Level 76, I tried killing a few mobs to hopefully ding. Tried turning in a few quests… and then finally…
DING 77!! 😀
I ran as fast as I could to the drake awaiting me at Wrymrest Temple, paying him to take me to Dalaran. Once there I said “gimmie my Cold Winter Flying!”, paid for it, mounted up, and started flying outside of Dalaran, getting XP for discovering areas.
Anyway, I got this new quest from Dalaran, called “Where in the world is Hermet Nessingway?”… lol, Carmen Sandiego reference anyone? So I got into this flying machine and went though a portal that took me to this ohhh so beautiful place called ‘Sholazar Basin’, it’s for Level 77-80. As I was flying to find Nessingway, I was intercepted by some bomber that started firing missiles at me.
One of them hit me and brought me down into this jungle… it looks like Stranglethorn Vale and Un’goro Crater in one zone. A true rainforest. If only I had one of those sharp swords to chop through the brush.
To continue this, I found the old coot, Nessingway, at this base camp. Apparently he doesn’t remember what I did for him in Nagrand, and for his son at STV.
So I started scouting around this new zone, uncovering areas. One of the more interesting features of the zone is these 3 mountains with flat tops. They all have different-colored crystals on them and on the top, with this strange device hovering over them and making a hurricane-like design on the top of it.
So I decided to head back to Dragonblight to continue questing. As I approached Borean Tundra, I was also flying over a PvP zone called ‘Wintergrasp’. Now this zone has this thing protecting it from flying mounts, known as a “no-fly zone”. If you go into it, you have 6 seconds to leave or your mount disappears from under your feet, and you parachute down safely to the ground.
I flew over the rim of it, lost my mount and parachuted near that crashed Necro..floating thing, whatever their called, and got aggroed by a ghoul.
To make a long story short (too late), I finally got the nerve to head to The Nexus. It took time to get a group, but I finally got in. We got all the quests done, including “rescuing” the dragon who was going to be Malygos’ new consort, but I was too late to save her. It still brings pain to me that I had to kill her. But at least I stopped Malygos once again. And I also stopped him from tearing the fabric of time and space.
Malygos is more of a fool than he is an enemy. He will kill himself and Azeroth if he succeeds. Because he’s using too much power at once. And I was wrong about him using Mages for some kind of death ray. Instead of using them, he tells his Mage Hunters to kill all mages.
He’s using Azeroth’s “lay lines”, which is the world’s energy, connecting Azeroth, to the real world.
And that’s not the only threat the red flight have. The Lich King is also an issue. The scourge are invading once ancient dragon burial grounds, such as the Ruby Dragonshrine, and resurrecting the dragons as Emberwryms and Frost Wryms.
It now seems that The scourge are starting to become a bigger problem than the Blue Dragonflight. Which is actually good.
And so, here I am, typing while I’m in Goldshire, getting some much-needed R&R from what has been a very grueling battle to get just to Level 77.
Tomorrow I will head back to Northrend, and start to uncover all areas…hopefully Icecrown as well. Then I’ll finally be called “Benie the Explorer”.
