Been a slightly busy today. I installed a new mine door on the entrance and imped it as high as I can get it. I also successfully made a security fence to guarantee to myself no one is bashing the mine door (even though it’s on-deed).
With those high priority jobs completed, I moved down to the low priority ones; getting new horses to replace the five I lost. I first asked in kchat, no response, so I posted what I wanted in the forums.
Ten minutes later I tried again asking kchat. Ten seconds later I get a PM from a “Calebbelac” asking what I want and I explained everything. Said that where the horses are all the way down near Freedom Market. He’ll charge 90c for all three.
A second guy asks me who seems more professional, tells me the horses are at Silverwing Retreat which isn’t too far away from me, but he’s at the Impalong. I ask him when he’s coming back and says maybe around 8pm. Unknown how much he would charge.
I looked at the clock and thought “Ehh.. fuck it. I’ll go to Freedom Market”. I was hoping I could find an enchanted Sickle to make pruning faster. So I set sail, and had my alt start prepping the spot I’ll be leaving them by planting crops.
I’m talking to my contact that I’ll be there in… 3+ hours due to the dying wind. The time seems to go on forever but I finally get there.
When I finally got to the pier the guy wasn’t there to greet me, so I went on with my shopping. 1/4 up the road he finally PMs me saying he went to his horse ranch to grab them for me, and for me to wait at Freedom Market.
Searching around I notice there’s more merchants now, but not one of them is selling an enchanted sickle. I do find a very high WoA/CoC rake, which I quickly pay for. Costed 3s but it’s well worth it.
As I continued searching, the guy PMs me and tells me there’s a problem, and I’m thinking “You mean I traveled all the way over here and he won’t deliver?” and ask. He says all of the adult horses he had are gone, except for four foals and a venerable horse. He offers the venerable and two cows as an alternate deal, but I thinking “The foals are going to grow up anyway”, and said I’ll take the foals. I then ask if I could come see him. And as I reread this, I found this was a bad mistake.
He tries to tell me where to go and I end up going on the still unfinished road that connects to Halcyon, then head back when he says he’s at FM, then takes me along the Northwest road going alongside Dragonfang Peak, then turns north and stops at this small ranch with five white horses lined up for me to view.
I ask him which one is the fastest, then suddenly he’s like “What?! You never asked for that! Dude, I don’t know! Sorry!” which I did specifically ask for. Soon I pick three of the four foals, and we head back to FM where I pay him the 90c, plus 10c from me for waiting for me patiently.
About three minutes later he PMs me again asking if I will take him and his friend to The Valley. I’m thinking “Huh? Oh sure, whatever. Just get done so I can get home.” So I head down to the docks and prepare to depart. The guy and his friend are there waiting for me.
And this is where the “fun” began. I bring the horses to my boat, get them close enough and hop on, then try to lead them again. And I get that annoying “Bad for your karma” shit. I toggle Lawful off, and I’m still getting it! Of COURSE I’m fucking pissed.
Before I arrived at the dock, I saw someone in kchat mentioning something about toggling Lawful off doesn’t work anymore. Something about a sneaky update, but didn’t know what it was about. Now… unfortunately I do.
I told the guy (calling him “Cale”) about it, he tried to lead the foals and they wouldn’t follow him either. So we both had to contact a GM to deal with this shit.
Five minutes later a GM named Lakota pops up, yet… he doesn’t seem interested in helping us out and starts walking around the pier. Cale asked me what’s the guy doing. And all I could see was him deliberately pissing me off and Cale agrees.
Then the GM stops and says in Local, “big place”, and I’m about ready to say “WTF?! CAN YOU NOT FUCKING SEE WE NEED HELP?!” but do my best to control my anger by telling him we asked for help to make my new horses leadable again.
Lakota finally manages to lead the foals and tells me to sail my boat out of the deed, so I do with Cele showing me where to go. I turn around and park my boat, then we thank the unfocused GM.
Cele tells me we need to head out, but I wait for the GM to leave. Just then I get another PM from what I assume was another GM, Dskaggsgv. Later on he shows up then suddenly sends an ally request from a settlement named Mount Samling, which I hesitantly agree to (I never met this guy before, but I think I saw him at the Impalong yesterday).
He asks how I’m doing and stuff and then the next thing I know, he AND Cele start treating me like a noob telling me how to lead the foals. I do my best to ignore their complaining as I do what I know. With the foals being small they’re hard to click on and pick the Lead option for all three.
The complaining keeps going with Dskaggsgv saying “do what i said =P”. I felt like saying “Mister. Shut up. I got this!”
Finally, I pull away from the area I parked with all three foals in tow, still pissed for being treated like an idiot. I also notice something. The wind is now non-existent and I’m going 7.61km/h.
Finally we get to one of the Steppe tiles, which is east of New Galway. It doesn’t seem to be good enough so he tells me to go to the one around the Crystal Canal.
I begin to think this guy has drafted me to assist him in getting more horses (and I was right. Because I nearly bought all of his), when I should not have thought of that and let him have it by accident.
He apologizes for not informing me sooner, said he assumed the horses would be there. Still, the speed and everything else is getting to me.
So I get near the canal and drop him off as he wanted me to, and head through it. Soon I leave his local and breath a sigh of relief, knowing all I have to do now is just get home and I’m done with that guy, but he’s not done with me.
About three minutes after leaving the canal he PMs me again saying “this was a bad idea”. Praying he doesn’t ask me to come back and save his ass, I ask him if he’s in trouble.
He sarcastically says no, that there’s three trolls on the path and nothing to get around them. And this is the last thing he said.
Was it wrong to leave him for dead? Mixed opinions.
1. I got my hands full here with these three foals, and the wind isn’t in my favor.
2. He treated me like an idiot. I had the situation under control.
I then removed him and especially Dskaggsgv off my friends list. Still going 7.61km/h I slowly made my way around the coast. As I approached Bro Bay, fog began rolling in. I felt like I was being punished for being away from Wurm, for not keeping my five horses in the secured pen.
As I waited, one of the GMs thought it would be funny by popping “Old angry troll hits you deadly hard on the head RIP” in the Event tab, “scaring” nearly everyone in kchat, except me that is. Their kind of lame comedy doesn’t go with me, especially with the situation I’m in.
But soon from what seemed like five hours of sailing, I made it home and welcomed the foals to their new home, by locking them in the secured pier.
I then went to my token and broke the sudden alliance with Mount Samling. Felt smart when the event showed “The wise Dragonhead has broken the alliance with Mount Samling.”
I did feel wise. I don’t know this guy enough to form an alliance with him, and I felt if I didn’t break it soon the guy or one of his villagers would take this as a way to steal from my settlement.
Who knows. Maybe it was him that took my horses. But what does it matter now? I got three new horses to replace my loss. They… just need to grow up, and quickly, so I can continue my plans.
And I am having second thoughts about them. I have no idea when they’ll grow up to be usable. I feel like asking if I could trade for horses of the same nature, but full-sized. But I don’t know any of their traits as my AH (Animal Husbandry) skill is shitty right now.
Should had said “Ehh.. thanks but no thanks.” to that guy, but I didn’t want to go home empty-handed after going all of that way to get them. Now I’m regretting that decision.
Maybe I could ask Elshar when he gets on, since that’s where I got my horses from. He might feel pitty on me for what happened to my five and be willing to trade, and all I have to do is head to his island which is just a 1&1/2 hour boat ride.
