Why the Borderlands series needs Steam Workshop support

I’ve always said about how MMOs are better than Freeplay Single Player games, yet always played them solo. Well, the Borderlands series is a (technically) Single Player RPG/FPS. Though the game does encourage co-op, it can still be played with one player.
But there’s one thing that kept me just not interested anymore. And that’s the fact, the series has no Steam Workshop support. Aka, no custom maps.

Now, I’m using Far Cry 4 as an example(the only example that I can think of). It has custom maps that you can play by yourself or your co-op buddy. Why can’t the Borderlands series have this?
Instead, all they do is rake in more money of DLCs. Yet the funny thing is, I believe they stopped making new DLCs (to possibly work on Borderlands 3). So, where’s my content? Where’s the newness?
Yes, playing the game again! So much FUN! … No. It’s fun if played with others

Just saying, devs.. custom maps would personally keep my interest with your game. And I won’t be looking like an idiot trying to play an MMORPG as a Single Player game.
