So, despite what happened last week with the ex-Aussie mods, Class A roads were still mentioned. And the answer I’ve finally waited for… how will they be done, and who will own them.

The answer, is completely not what I’ve been expecting…
The Staffers after the next GSM, will make a contract for a road from a Point A to a Point B(say from Central City to some random location). It’s up to you to accept said bid, how you will plan it out, and what materials you’ll use. If you’re picked, they will make out a contract for you. You’ll be paid in ingame money when the job is complete. Though I’m not even going to accept it.
Originally, their system made no sense to me; even when Frumple repeated it for me during the Q&A session. I didn’t like the fact I would have to send out a proposal every fucking time with the same credentials. Seemed ridiculous.
That was until Chief posted the results of the GSM yesterday and I gave it a look. Now I understand what must be done. Basically, you got to think of how you would plan the road out(turns, ramps, interchanges, bridges.. etc), as if you were doing it yourself.
You also got to list (if any) people that would help you with this project. A collaboration, if you will.

Here, I sent an email as professional as I could get it, almost to Ad status, to the staff on how “Ender Road Works will be your preferred builder”… when I now obviously didn’t have to. Even saying “Our materials have a money back guarantee not to lag your server”…. wow. What a waste of time that was. Though it was also a bit fun.

As for road ownership, the big question mark, by default it will be owned by the server, which prohibits large changes. The exception, is if you have helped build or are in an MPO, you’ll have to do another bid for ownership to legally make changes.
This to me is fair. I don’t care about owning a road anymore. Doing it for the server instead of myself now. Got pretty messy in the past anyway. This will solve it. Good plan, Admins. I like it.

But until February and the next GSM, I will remain offline as there’s still nothing (I want) to do. Yoshi last month was trying to get me to join the Mole again. I almost joined too, but remembered my promise not to.
I told him, “The only way I’ll join another Yoshi game is if you don’t kill the loser.” Seriously, in the original Mole, they send you home if you got the lowest score. They don’t fucking dump you in lava and laugh in your face. 😛

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – “Yarr Harr fiddle dee dee…”

I’ve been wanting to use that witty title for a VERY long time, since I saw this game. Anyway, Dan (aka Nerd3) gave this game high praise, for being on the high seas. So far, I really like it. Granted, the good stuff is when you got a boat and can blow up enemy ships, and sail to islands.

You step in the shoes of one of the famous pirates that ever lived; Edward Kenway. A pirate who wants to live the true life of one; fame, gold, rum, women… all of that good stuff.

So anyway, this is the sequel of Assassin’s Creed 3. Having never played an Assassin’s Creed game in my life, I know nothing about the plot of the series. Only that this game, I’ve heard you don’t really need to know it. You still play as a skilled Assassin(even though I make him look really bad at it).

The crafting system seems eerily similar to Far Cry 3, which is funny as the developer is the same one that made that game. There’s even, shocking, a system similar to WoD’s Garrison followers system. Though of course WoD came out later than this game.. but in this one, eventually you’ll be able to assign a ship on trade routes, based on difficulty, ship type, and what kind of cargo it carries.
You can also set a ship to and from the USA(in the 18th century of course, long before we had the Titanic).

Let’s get to the review, shall we…;

The Good:
-Relive real life history; the hayday of the Pirate Age(the 17th/18th century) in the Caribbean. Command a real life named brig called the ‘Jackdaw’, plunder precious booty, rob people of their money, get into sword fights with the British and Spanish Navies, get into drunken brawls, take over other ships or blow up theirs, find buried treasure…meet Blackbeard, and all other pirate stuff. Yet also staying away from the stereotypical image associated with pirates, such as parrots, Kraken, and plank-walking.
-See the high seas, sometimes quite busy with AI captains. In some areas, you’ll see playful dolphins in the water near your boat. You might also see a whale.
-Sometimes, you have to battle rough seas.. including vicious waterspouts from a Hurricane. Later in the game, they can be accompanied by tsunami-like waves. And the boat uses real physics, and can be damaged if you don’t steer correctly.
-You can choose if you wish to initiate combat with a ship.. but if you’re not an a restricted area, they’ll be actively looking for pirates like you.
-Listen to your crew sing songs(aka ‘shanties’) while you sail, which are real pirate songs(in English too).
-Go spearfishing in the middle of nowhere. But be careful when hunting the now endangered Blue Whale.
-Hire new crew, because you’ll need them for boarding ships. Though if you lose a lot, you can get them back with rescuing more pirates that are willing to go to hell with you.
-Freeplay after the main questline.
-Sometimes having rare events happen while playing, like a Royal Navy convoy or a Blue Whale sighting. Both are only if you’re logged into uPlay while playing.

The Bad;
-Game seems to have some random crashing issues, but they’re only one-time things. Still, quite annoying.
-Crafting system is too much like Far Cry 3. There are two differences. Such as upgrades for sleep darts, both Level 1 and Level 2 have the same buff, yet require different materials. Also, you don’t collect leaves, yet you collect skins to make things.
-Open world, yet also forced to keep doing the main questline to access specific areas of the game, due to what memory you currently have of Edward. In other words, you’re forced to do the main questline to unlock the entire map.
-In parts, I don’t know where the plot is going. But really, the plot is about you trying to unlock Edward’s memories for a special project of this game company(that happens to be in 2014.. last year).
-Camera angle and movement keys don’t like working together, especially when jumping around and/or battling lots of enemies. There’s no ‘lock on’ feature.
-Action key and Counter bound to the same key, often leads to raging moments in combat with the enemy countering your every attempt. The game seems to hate arrow key users like myself.
-The game world doesn’t feel realistic. It feels like half the size of the real thing, yet the game is still pretty huge.

The Neutral(annoying stuff, but not anything bad);
-Storms in the distance, given how small the thunderhead is compared to a genuine Supercell, shouldn’t be producing that much lightning. Yet I’ve never seen a developing Hurricane in real life(except from radar models).
-Don’t captains have compasses in the 18th century? Yes, you get the map, but in reality, a captain has a compass.
-Wish there was a way to get off your boat via a rowboat instead of having to jump off the ship to get to an island. There are Dock zones, but they aren’t on small islands.
-A strange, sometimes funny bug where your ship literally floats up from the bottom of the sea; often happening after a level load. I’ve even had it kill off my crew by ‘drowning’, and one time myself because of it.
-Trying to take out two of the several forts to see that section of the game world, this weird.. almost random storm pops up out of nowhere, with waterspouts and the like. Taking out the fort, the sky suddenly clears up.

.
Overall, really like this game, and love the fact I can choose if I want to go into naval combat with another ship, or ships. This will possibly be one of my favs to list at the end of the year.
It also has freeplay after the main questline is completed.

Wolfenstein: The New Order – “Screw saving the world! Gotta have sex!”

It’s been a busy week for me. Got bored with the MRT, got surgery on yet another tooth, and now I’m trying not to freeze to death with a major Arctic push from our good friends in Canada, sending temps to.. nothing (0F).
With my space heater behind me working overtime, and able to spend a whole day without looking at the sight of my own blood from a gauze that was in my mouth, I decided to finally play another game I bought but haven’t touched it for days. And that game is Wolfenstein: The New Order.
Since seeing it back in Christmas 2013 at my local Meijer, I wanted the thing. This being the third game of the jaunera that started the First Person Shooter craze. I expected an epic game with me kicking some major Nazi ass!

My original idea for the plot, our hero of the original Wolfenstein 3D and Return to Castle Wolfenstein, is tasked once again with kicking Nazi ass. It was going to be similar to Duke Nukem Forever, of him resting after kicking their asses before.
Another thought, what if this is a prequel to RTCW? Unfortunately I’ll never be able to find out, since I’ve hit a part where the game refuses to work…

Yes… this game is such a mess, that I’m not even going to bother telling you guys about it. Let’s just get right to the review, and I’m glad I didn’t buy this at full price.

The Good;
-You’re back doing what you do best; kicking Nazi ass.
-You can dual weld.
-It has a cool Wolfenstein 3D reference.
-Your assault rifle can turn into a fucking ROCKET LAUNCHER!!(after an upgrade)

The Bad;
-The plot.. it’s all over the place. It’s worse than Crysis 2 in trying to understand it.
-The map isn’t helpful.
-Waypoints aren’t helpful.
-No Quicksave/Quickload feature. All uses savepoints.
-Really, really gross scenes happen without warning. Far worse than any game I’ve played. Imagine glaring at a woman with blood coming out of her mouth. Excuse me?! I didn’t wish to see this! We’re not playing Quake or Dead Space here!
-The non-want to see sex scenes. “Hey. You got a moment? Sure, what do you need? Mind you, we still need that important part. Screw saving the world! Let’s have sex! Right here, right now!”… this isn’t the way to sell a game.
-All of your weapons are lost after every chapter change. You don’t always have the same weapons every chapter.
-The game is literally unplayable due to a bug that hasn’t been fixed since May 2014.

Yeah. That last one. That’s a biggy. It’s in the first of the final last three chapters of the game. After a cutscene, and then seeing yourself remove something from your body like the fucking badass that you are, the game’s FPS tanks without warning, making it literally unplayable.
But that’s not the worst part.. no. Try to quit and get back in? Freeze. Yes, the game freezes and crashes.

The sad thing is, this is only affecting a small group of people. It could be because of a type of video card. Maybe ID Software is against Nvidia. Or, never optimized for the GTX 700 series, which seems to be the trend from what I’m seeing. Unfortunately, my 760 Ti is part of it.
Whatever it is, it remains unfixed. So there’s seriously nothing I can do to get it to work. Try to restart the campaign, and it happens in the same fucking place.
People have suggested to try to up your Virtual Memory. Tried this. Didn’t fix. Out of options. No “we know about this problem” from ID Software.

You have no idea how much this sucks. I hate game companies that do this. This is why I rarely buy and play games anymore. I’m tired of being screwed out of my money.

I may actually have hope in the next GSM…

Yesterday was a bit eventful on the MRT. Making a few books for the MRT Mail Center, and exploring a few places, and also getting stuck in stations, it was.. yeah.
But it ended with some hope, even though as pessimistic as I am, I question it.

One of the key moments for the day(besides being in the jury of another random court thingy on the old map), was going back home from Central City.
I was on the Expo line, trying to leave the city and get back to the Circle Line. Got to the final Expo station that would leave the city. There was two carts stuck on the ramp leading out of the station.
Asked for help to clear them out. Got a tp request from a member. Accepted, and they did the Mod’s job; clearing the tracks for me. I…. I stood there in shock. This… is what I’ve been reduced to? Feeling like I’M A FUCKING GUEST, all because I refuse to build a breathtaking town?!?! I seriously wanted to cry after that. I even had thoughts of quitting once again.

And it didn’t get better as I continued on my journey back home. C11(one of the stations I must pass through to get back home) was moved underground without my knowledge. Though that’s not the problem, it’s the line that wasn’t taken down with it. I didn’t even know it was done until I tried to go through the station, and was greeted by a wall of rock.
Chief happened to pop back on at this time after being gone for awhile. I told him the news, and he seemed to not give a fuck…at all. He was too busy with doing a new type of courthouse to care about if others like myself fall in the same “trap”.

After a few self-drama episodes, I decided to take matters into my own hands, and place warning signs to alert others about this(and how to work around it until Chief fixes it).
Sometime later, he came on Mumble. I told him what I did and asked if he’s planning to fix it ASAP. He says he’ll try today to do a detour until the person who he did this for, comes back.

Finally, I got back home(used my own type of detour) the same way I got there. And here’s the “why there could be hope” part. I asked Chief, if the Admins would ever… ever consider titles for road builders(aka people like me who don’t wish to build towns).
He said, once again, that I would have to be Mayor or up to build roads to other towns. However… he might(again, might) be able to make an exception, since of what I’ve done for the server in the past(with I-0 and stuff). He said he’ll put in a note in the next GSM that’s still being scheduled, if it’s possible I can be exempt from having to build a town to build roads!

Personally, though… I feel this is going to blow up in my face. I think Chief has forgotten, I’m the reason why they had to make changes to roads. Because of my constant over-protection of them, and not allowing others to build off of them without my permission.
Though I’ve learned my lesson from those dark days in my MRT life and learned that this is NOT a Single Player game, and allow anyone to work on my roads… even allowed them to edit them(to an extent). I feel this is just going to cause everything to go back to that thing, and the Admins aren’t going to want it there; especially Frumple.

I can hear it now… “Are you serious? You do know who you’re talking about, right? Benie? The over-protective whiny bastard?! You want him to be able to build roads again?!?!”
Obviously, they’re not going to be that dramatic. But this is how I feel it’ll end. Though they may think I have changed and give me another chance.

Even if they did, how are they going to implement it that won’t affect high-ranking members to be able to build their roads to other towns? I feel, I’m still going to be reduced to a ‘road builder for hire’ as my only option.
Even though this is still up to the Admins, I’m saying this now, so I won’t be shocked and angered if they do say it.

Metro 2033 – If a Russian Metro Simulator and STALKER had a baby…

I literally got this game for free, from Humble. Of course this was a month ago and I’m just now sitting down to play it. It seems to be a bad habit of buying games yet having no desire to play them.
I blame WoD. 😛

Anyway, this game is pretty good, yet it also feels a bit unfinished at times. Of course, this is the original Metro 2033. There is a Redux version I think that fixes problems and increases graphics, but it costs money.
One reason I was hesitant to play it, is reviews that it’s a “hold your hand” kind of game, with an annoying NPC that seems to be near you at nearly all times, treating you like shit even though you’re doing all the work.
From what I’ve seen, there’s hardly any hand-holding. There’s a few ‘co-op’ parts, but I’ve seen a majority of parts that I’m on my own.

So, the plot. It feels like it’s all over the place, similar to understanding Crysis 2. Though I believe in order to fully understand the plot, you must read the novel with the same title, as this game is based from the novel.
You’re playing as this guy named “Artyom”. You were just a baby in the year 2000 and you lived in Moscow, when it and surrounding areas got destroyed by nukes. It’s been 33 years since that event. There’s now these mutant creatures, similar to STALKER. But there’s also a new breed of creature that you somehow know about.

You are part of thousands of survivors, trying to escape from the fallout by using the old Metro tunnels to get around the city. But to survive in this world, you gotta learn how to use a gun.
You also have a Gas Mask, ideal for going into toxic areas of the world. You can put on and take off the mask at anytime, which I like. Give the player options. The gas mask can become chipped to nearly unusable, so be careful with this.

You basically get around as the story progresses, trying to get yourself into the heart of Moscow. You’re also tasked with a promise of a mentor that the player is supposed to know(all in that novel) to get to a specific station and deliver a message.

So, here’s all the things I didn’t like about the game. Although I didn’t like them, they shouldn’t keep you from wanting to get this game(though I think most if not all of these are fixed in the Redux version);
-Flimsy mouse aiming. It almost feels like an on-rails shooter with this.
-Setting mouse settings seem to not do anything to fix the above.
-No Windowed mode option in graphics.
-No way to set advanced graphic options.
-“Stealth” missions don’t exactly exist. In other words, you don’t fail if you’re spotted.
-Claims it has an invisible karma system (like Dishonored)… I didn’t see it. No matter what way you play, you get the same results.
-NPCs you have to protect or follow, move ridiculously slow during high combat areas.
-Quite confused on the currency system, and how to tell the difference between them and actual bullets.
-It’s recommended to keep captions on, as there is no “you, come with me” dialog. You got to know who you play as.
-Hard to understand NPC dialog when they use gas masks. Again, a reason to use captions.
-When you kill someone, it’s impossible to get back into stealth.
-NPCs don’t seem to hunt for you (unless you’re close to them) if you don’t use stealth.
-There are no non-lethal options for taking down enemies.
-Your headlight seems to run out of charge quite quickly.

And that’s about it. Overall, it’s still a good game and worth a try.

The results of the GSM

So, the MRT had its forth GSM since moving to the new server(and the final GSM this year). Also, Chief hasn’t updated their website yet with the results of the GSM. Hopefully it’ll be soon.

Here are the highlights…

Things I don’t care about
-Some people got promoted to the Senator rank, this includes an Admin(remember, they aren’t exempt from building towns to “rank up”).
-Some people that promoted to the Governor rank. This was also a moment in history; one was a non-staffer, and one was a staffer, and they’re the first to get this rank.
-Small Stadiums(Little League ball parks, etc) can now be built by any rank. It’s not just Senator and up. Large Stadiums still do require the rank.
-Mention of a ‘screenshot contest’ for next year. Winner gets ingame money and their picture(s) on the website.

Things I kind of care about
-Expansions to the MRT are “relatively soonish maybe”(says Chief) planned and worked on. The first could come a southern extension of the Zephyr Line, to connect a member’s station that’s near the bottom of the map border. They’re also planning perimeter lines(Northern, Eastern, Southern, and Western). My island will not be affected, they say. So that’s good.
-Due to overwhelming complaints from some members, suggestive comments are now banned on the server, and mostly banned in Mumble. Also, players may now be warned if their suggestive themes in building names, offend people enough. Also, it’s now allowed to make a password-protected channel in Mumble by any registered member(so the dirty-minded people won’t have to deal with whiners).
-Upgrading to 1.8 could be hard to do, as Bukkit is “dead”(aka, not updating or supported anymore). It may be possible the server could switch to Spigot (or even this new ‘Sponge’ system once it’s done). The Admins say not to be surprised if the server stays in 1.7.10 in six or more months. However, you’re free to update to 1.8 in your client and still connect.

Things I fully care about
-The discussion on how roads will be connected. Right now, it’s just “we don’t know who’s going to own these roads right now”. I feel it will eventually be based on Mayor and up, leaving me even more of ‘a relic of the past’. I’ll discuss this later.
-Frumple will.. one day release the schematics and a video of MRT v5. He will ‘try'(keyword try) to get this done after Christmas, but no promises. Hope he does. This will help the W2TS move forward via inspiration of realistic station exterior designs.

.
.
Right. Back to roads now. As it currently stands, it’s going to take the Admins another GSM to hopefully decide on how InterMaps(Class A roads) are going to be handled on the new map.

This pretty much will boil down to getting as many high-ranking members as possible. I believe this is one reason why they’ve been putting off talking about roads. But the second more obvious one, they’re just waiting for more towns to popup.
Yet I feel that once they have a good roster of Mayors and up, they’ll have control linking roads to neighboring towns. But, I also feel they’ll have an option to hire road contractors if they don’t feel like it.
Since I’m still [Trustee], and you need at least [Councillor] to build roads to other towns(which you have to build a town and a good one at that)… that leaves me shit out of luck. :/
I pray I can talk to Chief about this later, and see if he could possibly understand that I’m NOT nor will I EVER be a fucking town builder! I hope he will see of what I’ve done for the server, and help me out.

But even if he was to give me an exemption to allow me to build roads to other towns(with permission, of course), it still won’t be the same. I’ll be nothing more than a ‘road builder for hire’. Just like that stupid franchise idea I had a few months ago. And I feel I’ll also be forced to advertise in a desperate attempt to build InterMaps again(cause if I don’t, others will take it from me).
Some say “Ohh, Benie! They’ll pick you! You’re good with roads! Don’t worry about it!” To be honest, I actually hope they’re right. But really, it’s not that hard to build a road(compared to a realistic city).

I mean, take Cortesi for example; the first non-staffer to get the Governor rank. This is the second highest rank you can get as a town builder. His road system is pretty amazing… though his choice of a Semi-Directional T is a bit too compact. However, giving with what limited space he has, he did what he could.

.
The second thing I want to discuss, is the banning of suggestive comments. On one hand, this could be seen as “tailoring to whiny kids”. On the other hand, insulting a person with suggestive to borderline racist comments, is totally NOT ok.
Also, if you must do it in Mumble, you must make a password-protected channel. Though this also in ways, can feel like a blacklist to some members who are curious of what’s going on, or feel mature enough to handle suggestive things, banned from joining them and feeling “So, this is the ‘cool kids club’. I see. :P”

Overall, I’m happy with the decision. And that’s about it.

….I’m getting bored already

So, this is… Day 3 since I came back to the server, I think. “I’ve” been working on my island. But actually, I’ve had help. suppoe built the house, lalaboy planned the path to it and most things.
What did I do? ..Hardly anything. All I did was build the docks and hand-paste my boats from the old map, with one I couldn’t really do due to how complex the build was, so I had to get a Mod to paste it.
Overall, I hardly “left my mark on the server” as I wanted. I’ve had others do it for me. And also, I’m getting bored. All because of this.

Yet I refuse to learn how to do things on my own(as in building); things as simple as building a house.. yet also making it look nice. I shouldn’t be asking others to help me. I should be smart enough to plan everything and build it myself. Hell.. I shouldn’t even NEED a plan. I should just go nuts and have fun. But that was the old me. That old me is dead now.
Yet, failing with executing plans has been an issue with me for years. It also upsets me, that I have to rely on others. Especially when it’s keeping them from ranking up themselves because they have to take time away from working on their towns to help me.

Dear lord if I was Guest now. As the only way to rank up is…build a house, in someone’s town. And it has to be non-shitty! I even saw this first hand today, of someone getting promoted to Citizen, then demoted back because their house sucked! On top of that, you have to have two staffers that will agree to give you the title. Even if an Admin agrees, a Mod can disagree and still not give you a promotion.
That feels really… bias? I dunno.

I’m not there for ranks, yet people are questioning why not; questioning when am I ever going to build a town, almost as if it’s a requirement to be on the server. As you all know, that’s silly. it just keeps you from ranking up. They can’t force you to build a town, just as much as they can’t force you to become a Member.
It’s just like WoW, separating me as a soloer, and the raiders/dungeoneers. Not doing their content, I don’t get geared. But I’m not going to be forced to do it by Blizzard.

All I can say is, I’m glad I got Trusted when I quit as a Mod. I feel I deserve it a lot more after seeing things like that, knowing I’m not forced to do that just to get to a respectable rank, that I can settle down on.
I really don’t know what pisses me off more, though; the feeling of using people for things I should be doing myself, or this god damn AFK timer that’s similar to WoW’s. ….Definitely the AFK timer.

I will be building the lighthouse. THAT I can do. I’ll just use my shitty lighthouse from my shitty map. Maybe people will like it. Or maybe they’ll beg to help me make a better one. But I will refuse their help, and remind them… that THIS is why I will never be Councillor. Builds like this will not be welcome to the eyes of picky Mods to get that title.

Blizzard looking through 2015 with WoD

Though I’m on the MRT, my mind is still thinking about WoD.
Today, Bashlok has posted a tweet of what could possibly happen next year for WoD(aka Patch 6.1 and beyond). Though remember, they are known to not keep their promises due to “time constraints”.
This is their tweet for your viewing pleasure: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/15688408873

They first mention about the Legendary Questline with Khadgar and that ring that I don’t give a fuck about. However, they mention of the first Legendary Follower that can join your Garrison, to entice people into doing the questline(if they care about collecting followers like Pokemon).

The second, the bird named ‘Pepe’ that hangs out in your Garrison and can also sit on your head if you click on him, can be used as an ingame Twitter device. You’ll be able to link him to your existing Twitter account and send tweets, ingame. That’s pretty cool.
Though, I don’t really need it as I’m a dual monitor user. Plus I don’t tweet all that much. All I use Twitter for is for local news, weather(the SPC), and WoW news.

Third thing, the promised changes for FPs in Draenor. They go into a bit more detail that makes me a bit… questionable, about “trying to get you to your destination faster”.
I do feel this is going to mean, FPs are going to be more expensive to use. Do not want.

The forth and final thing, is about changes to the Garrison in the future. They won’t go into detail, probably not to spoil any “surprises”, but mention mainly changes to access a friend’s Garrison. Here’s the thing.. a “friend’s Garrison”, NOT an Alt’s Garrison! What happened to the promise to make it easy for players with many alts and Garrisons? What happened, Blizzard?
Anyway, they go on about how, they’re going to add “a fun random task”, with achievements and rewards.
They also mention more things to use Garrison Resources on, to not make them utterly pointless at Tier 3. There will also be a new tier of Garrison Invasion for hardcore players(maybe Heroic Garrison Missions?). There will be “profession-building missions”, which has my interest, and “a whole lot more”.
Very interesting. Maybe I’ll actually have hope in Blizzard yet.

.
I did say the Garrison was the final thing, but this is very important. Going by what I’m reading, they first mention about ‘ingame tokens’ you can buy. What’s special about these, they would be used as game time, and will be gift-able to other players.
They say their original thought was to “use player’s excess gold to pay for some of their subscription cost.” I hope to pay the entire fee. It would definitely make gold, to me, have a point!
Interested to see where Blizzard takes this. I hope they implement something in my favor.

.
And that’s about it. The rest is stuff I don’t care about. No mention about Apexis Gear being a full set, so that’s really sad. But, who’s to say that may not change? Who’s to say I may not even need it to be a full set?
I will be watching Twitter closely, and will jump the second they say “the PTR is up with Patch 6.1”.

Re: Back on the MRT Server

“This will be the last MRT Server post I will ever make” I said. “I’m never going back” I said. “They want me to change. They don’t care if I just stay there” I said.

Not only did I go back on my own words, but I proved myself wrong. They still do care about me, even though I don’t build towns! However, I am building something. There’s an island that seemed it had my name on it.
Suppoe, before I left, tried to get me to re-create the Isle of Failure(before I had Yoshi touch it because I was bored with island life). I was so upset over the changes done to roads, that I refused to adapt to them. That’s changed… in ways.

No longer do I care about road building; mainly interstates. I’ve now learned the true reason why they made the changes. Yes, it’s still my fault. Because people were “forced” to ask me for perms to touch my roads. Even though Frumple had “fixed” it to where they don’t have to, people continued to ask me.
Speaking of that, I got word that they might be talking about this, during this weekend’s GSM. What the outcome could be, I doubt would affect me in the slightest. Maybe it will. Maybe it’ll give me a rank to help others build roads without needing a silly franchise to do it.
Maybe they’ll even ask me to help them do the server road network. That would be awesome, but I seriously doubt it.

Anyway, back to that island. It’s the main reason I came back to the server. I want to actually get back to what I was in the past; when I made the Isle of Failure. This one, I’m naming “Lonely Isle”. As in, it’s just me.
Yet once again… I can’t plan worth a shit. People have suggested to use an image editor and do it. I’ve personally considered using MCEdit to plan, but even with that I’m unsure.
On top of that, I have to make sure I don’t do any massive terraforming… as that’s against the rules.
I do understand the reason for the rule; for if the Admins have to rollback and have to change all of that land back. That’s too much stress on the server. It however also limits what I can do. And limiting after I came from WoD’s stupidity…
Still, I will do my best to deal with these limits. I at least have a pretty good idea on what the Pier would look like.

Once again, how the MRT could benefit the W2TS

Been trying to go over my options to get myself away from WoW until Patch 6.1, which will probably come sometime next year.
One of them was possibly getting back on the MRT Server, just to say hi. But seeing how I “banned myself” from the server because I was pissed off at the changes against me… but I also thought about how stupid I was.

Roads should never go infront of friendship. So I can’t do roads anymore. Big fucking DEAL! That wasn’t the reason I visited before! Though I was blown away the fact they put up a new map and moved to yet another, bigger server to host it on.. well, yeah.
Anyway, I had another thought. To remember one of the reasons I came on the MRT in the first place; to “get ideas for the W2TS”. I’ve wanted to expand the coverage that the Red and Blue lines go, to finally have an Outer Loop Line.
But to find a good candidate seed that’s as beautiful as W2TS v2.01, and also plan out the lines, would be a lot of fucking work for me.

I decided to send a letter to Chief, asking him how they were able to make the new map and plan out the lines. About 2-3 hours later, he responded with.. everything I needed, and then some. He gave me the seed to the map they use, and told me how it was generated.
He said that it took 80….. 80 fucking maps to get that thing!! That is A LOT of new games.
He also linked me to an old blog post on their website, showing the plan for the lines, and comparing the current map to the old one. And.. wow. A huge difference in size. It looks like 5x the size of the original map.

As for planning the lines, it was pretty obvious. They used Dynmap and used image editors. And of course, to create the map to be on Dynmap, was the use of WorldBorder. Then they just filled it up. Wonder how long it took! Going by the size, possibly an entire day… if not nearly two.

.
So that’s pretty much it, other than a ton of technical stuff. Looks like I got my answer. But to do something similar, with just me setting up the lines and hoping I can find a good candidate(not to mention I will be the only one that would use it), I dunno if it’s worth it.
He also hopes I’ll pop on the MRT sometime. Again…. I might. Just as long as I keep my drama off the server, they’ll be happy(just to see me, they’re happy). And if I feel drama or people start to ask me questions that will cause it, I will say I gotta go and head out. It’s that simple.
