Checking out Direwolf20’s latest modpack (for 1.10.2)

FYI, if you enjoy SSP and Modded Minecraft, Direwolf20’s latest Modpack is now up (since yesterday). Though I created this post to talk about how… empty it feels compared to the previous 1.7.10 version.
Mainly, I feel it has 3/4 of the mods it normally does. This likely has to do with mod authors either abandoning their projects, or not able to work on it due to RL issues. Such as the author of Thaumcraft(which has been one of the staples of the Direwolf20 pack for awhile now). This guy is working on his own game, and is one of the reasons why Dire decided to give us the pack now instead of making us wait 2-3 more months.
(Thaumcraft is coming, by the way. By next year)

I do appreciate that, though I personally feel the wait would had been worth it. Let me go over the other things I feel are missing. Now these missing items may or may never be brought back. So I’m just going to go with the pack as it currently stands.
First off, Extra Utilities(now named ExtraUtil2). This mod I feel has probably the second most annoying changes to it. Mainly because…
Magnum Torch is gone. No more being able to disable mobs from spawning.
Thankfully the Deep Dark portal is still there (and so is its Quarry)…but without the Magnum Torch, it will be very difficult to survive.
However, this is an also an Alpha version. So maybe the torch was having issues, and it might be added in a future version? Let’s hope!! 😀

Though my main concern went to Tinkers’ Construct, which I believe the mod went through a complete overhaul. It still has similar features, but…;
-Weapons/Tools can no longer be powered with RF.
-You have to make the Tinker Tables/Smeltry yourself (can no longer find them from random villages).
-The Smelting book(teaches you to build it) and book on how to build the tables, are missing. So we’re forced to use JEI (NEI’s spiritual successor) to get the recipes. This is BULLSHIT!! Not to mention it’s punishing to players who never tried out the mod before.
–Asking where the books/world gen went, I get directed to a generic answer in an FAQ (of “If they got removed, it was for a reason that I’m not going to tell you”).
It feels the main author went the way of Blizzard with WoW. As in.. “FUN NOT ALLOWED” (when it came to removing RF). Hell, there’s even proof in the FAQ, how he felt it was “too easy” to be able to infinitely repair your tool with RF. I’m sorry, but the last time I looked, this was A FUCKING SINGLE PLAYER GAME!! WHO’S GOING TO FUCKING CARE ABOUT ‘TOO EASY’?!?!
Oreberries (and XP Berries) are both gone. More proof of “NO FUN ALLOWED”. Lastly, something that actually does make sense is he no longer will have his own version of ores specific to the mod (he lists there are already mods that do this, and he’s right). Though you’ll still find Cobalt and other ores in the Nether.

JEI alone, I don’t like too much. NEI had more features (plus I’m quite familiar with it). No Magnet Mode. No day/night set. No rainfall disable. I liked Magnet Mode the most, because it was the OP(yet fun) way to Botanica’s ‘Ring of Magnetization‘. However, I will get into Botanica and get this ring, as this pretty much makes it have a point to acquire. In a way, that’s a good thing. It’s a much more legit way.
There is also a similar ring (called the Ring of Magnetizing from Actually Additions, a new mod in 1.10.2). Doesn’t use magic and girly flowers. 😛

Morth (one of my favorite mods that was only seen in 1.7.10) is gone. It was awesome, because when you kill a mob, you’ll absorb its form. So you can be a pig, a spider, a creeper (sadly it doesn’t make you able to walk around mobs and not be attacked). Whatever. It was insanely helpful when combined with EnderZoo(another mod seen only in 1.7.10), because as an Endermini, you could use it to plot routes for underground piping for machines.
You could also fly if you killed a Bat or something, or in the Nether, you could kill a Blaze and absorb its fireproof ability (and flight) to get through the Nether.
Not having the mod is upsetting, but I can live without it. Plus, there are flying alternatives in the pack.

OpenBlocks is gone, so no Elevator block(which could be built early game). RFTools has a form of one, though, that I want to check out once I get there. Hopefully it’s easy to set up. The grave is also gone, but thankfully there’s a replacement one (called ‘GraveStone Mod’) that works just like it (even gives a list of once you respawn, of what you lost).

ComputerCraft is gone, but there’s a… whew, even more complicated as hell replacement (called ‘Open Computers’). Instead of needing to learn Lua and program to get anywhere (or find the script already wrote down somewhere), it goes above and beyond that.

BuildCraft is gone, though I personally haven’t really need to use it for years. It was mainly used for its beauty-killing quarry (and liquid manipulation), which Extra Utilities can take up the slack.

CarpentersBlocks is gone(was only seen in 1.7.10). It was cool, but I can live without it.

ProjectRed is gone, though I haven’t had a need to use this since EnderIO.

ThermalExpansion is gone. Thankfully EnderIO is still around as a replacement.

Mystcraft and The Twilight Forest are both gone. Shouldn’t be surprised these two semi-stable mods (especially Mystcraft) didn’t make it to 1.10.2. Though RFTools can be used as an alternative means for teleportation to a specific spot.
——————
Now we’ll go over the bright side of this, of what mods have returned and are better than ever;

AE2 has returned (next gen item storage FTW)! There’s also a worthy alternative version called ‘Refined Storage’ (which is rumored to be like AE1(aka, AE2 without channel management)).
Blood Magic has returned. The mod has been completely overhauled (mentioned in the Forgecraft series).
Botanica has returned (as I mentioned before). So yay.. more girlyness with flowers and magic (and rainbows and unicorns)! … Blech.
Chisel 2 has returned.
Draconic Evolution, a manly man mod only seen in FTB Infinity (and other packs), is finally in this pack! Can’t wait to try out its endgame potential.
EnderIO has returned, as a alternative to the aging IC2 for automated ingot producing and base power (which is shockingly still around).
EnderChest and EnderPouch both have returned. Rejoice for remote storage that works between dimensions (for an automated sorting system)!
Journeymap has returned, and works as it did in 1.7.10.
Forestry has returned.
IronChests are back. Extra storage!
Railcraft has returned.. and holy hell the track options are awesome. Electric rails?! Damn son!
A replacement to the barrels is here, called ‘Storage Drawers’. Upgrades work similar.

And that’s pretty much it for the pack. Even though it feels empty, there are still replacements to play with (when you eventually get mid to late game).

Post-BlizzCon Q&A Results

Greetings, readers. Another WoW Q&A has come and gone and I’ve been going over all the questions and answers. Due to several emails saying there’s a better way I could be doing this instead of telling people to watch the stream, that I should do it like Wowhead and MMO-Champion do it.
However, I think I got a better idea. I’ll combine that with a new plugin I installed just for this, to hide or show the Q&A’s questions and answers.
Let me know what you guys think of this, alright?

Answer

Answer

Answer

Author’s note: I will be completely overhauling this post for a better system of doing Q&A’s. When is done is unknown to me, for I’ll be busy with a few things elsewhere.
Until then, I’ll keep this page as-is.

The stream will start 15 minutes later than originally said on the website, due to today being Veteran’s Day (and it was their way of respecting them). And in a way, this was also good on my end. It was 9 minutes away from the stream and I had my computer off, and it takes 10+ minutes to boot.
Be sure to submit your questions before the stream happens by using the methods I mentioned in the post below this one, and you can watch the stream as it happens on twitch.tv/warcraft.
The Q&A happened at 2:16pm EST.

Three things that are important to note they started answering questions;
1. The 7.1.5 PTR, Ion hopes to have it out early next week; stating the reason for the delay is because they’re testing hotfixes for clientside stability issues.
2. Argus is not..repeat NOT the next expansion. It is future Patch 7.3. This was asked during the Q&A, and Ion also ‘leaked’ out “Argus for 7.3” before the questions were read. But this clarification is good. Was strongly thinking of doing a blog post about this. Now I don’t need to.
3. They would like to do a new Q&A mid-December and that they enjoy doing these.

So as for the questions and answers, they were mostly about Legendaries and Mythic+, with some about artifact weapon appearances. Once again, my question wasn’t answered. At this time, I feel it’ll never be answered. I just don’t understand why this question keeps being ignored (and not posted enough for Blizzard to pay attention).
That question is the forced dungeons. What’s odd is I’m not seeing anyone bitching about it anymore in General Discussion. Though it also should be obvious, either they learned to deal with it, have quit, or have given up trying to get the WoW dev team to listen. Reforging and Legendaries seem to be the ways people are bitching now.

Anyway, one of these questions did catch my eye, and it’s someone else who was a bit shocked over this news that in 7.2 of Legion’s dungeons to be made more difficult. However, there is good news to this.
Here’s the question and Ion’s response;
Q: At BlizzCon, you stated that Heroic and Mythic dungeons will be upgraded to fit the new raid tier in 7.2. Does that mean new level 110 characters will not have access to dungeons until being geared up much better?
———————-
His answer wasn’t really welcoming, with him saying Yes to “spam run Normals”. However to help alts and new players in 7.2, “we’re planning to bump the item reward of Normals to 825.” They’re hoping players will run more Normals to gear up instead of going for World Quests and moving to Heroics and Mythics.

For a ‘normal’ standpoint, this is good. Making the item level higher to be able to tackle Heroics (and LFR) faster than ever before, yes. I like it.
But from a anti-social person’s standpoint, I don’t like it. That’s forcing more dungeons down our throats. And it would take even longer to get up to 7.2’s content. Thankfully it’s only an option.

So I’ll leave you with the Q&A recap. Honestly, it’s better for you guys to watch it for yourselves than to see a huge post from me. And I believe that’s what I’m going to do for all future Q&As.
It’s a lot less stressful on my end, and you guys won’t have to wait for my slow hands to type. Speaking travels a lot faster than typing them in a blog post, trying to listen in my head of what was said and then figure out how to make the question and answer as the most compact as I can get it (while they’re still talking). Soon they’re on the 3rd question while I’m still typing the first! Plus I had more delays from the real world (seems to happen everytime something like this pops up).
It’s a lot of work. And it’s not really worth the stress.
Anyway, here’s the streams.

Patch 7.1.5 not on the PTR / Post-BlizzCon Q&A tomorrow

With the reviews out of the way (as long with everything else), I can finally focus on telling you guys about Patch 7.1.5. Unfortunately, as much as I wish I could, Battle.net’s launcher is having issues. It’s assuming there’s another install or an update going on, when there’s clearly not.
Don’t seem to be the only one having an issue. Thankfully I was able to fix the issue by closing out the launcher, running WoW-64.exe, logged in OK, closed it out and then reopened the launcher.
Guess it just needed a kick in the ass.

But now there’s another problem. Apparently someone didn’t tell Ion (not going to say he ‘lied’ to us(not without proof)) about Patch 7.1.5 appearing on the PTR after BlizzCon was over. It still shows 7.1 being the patch there. Interesting.

.
Finally, I saw this as I was downloading the PTR. To mark a week since BlizzCon happened, Blizzard’s doing a post-BlizzCon Q&A tomorrow at 11am PST (2pm EST local time) on the WoW channel on Twitch, and it’ll last for an hour. One again, either use this thread or use #LegionQA via Twitter to submit your questions.
Patch 7.1.5 and Patch 7.2 will be the topics of discussion. Once again I’ll do my best to spam-post the questions and answers (and this time I promise not to be salty if my question doesn’t get answered).
So, be sure to ask why 7.1.5 hasn’t appeared on the PTR yet. I’m sure most of us would like to know what happened.

Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture – The backstory (SPOILERS)

First off, WARNING! There will be spoilers of the game’s backstory. If you don’t wish to be spoiled, simply click away from this blog post. This is for people that have managed to deal with the ‘walking simulator’ and have completed the game.
Continuing to read further than this, you have been warned.

*SPOILER SECTION*

Anyway, I just had to make a blog post about the story of this game. It is..beautiful. And the ending is, well, unnerving to say the least.
You got Kate (Katherine) Collins, and her love interest (I’m going to assume who was her boyfriend or husband) Stephen Appleton. The two are scientists who work in an observatory. One night, they see a strange pattern of lights in the sky (who turns into be some unknown entity that seems to be alive).
After this, Stephen and a old friend of his are talking. But unknown to Kate, Stephen is cheating on her and even has a baby with this friend. Of course, word finally got to Kate, who sees herself being socially awkward (wanting to spend more time in the observatory), locks herself up there and attempts to communicate with this being.

And by ‘communicate’, this being feels “kill everything in the most painful way possible” is the way to say “hello humans”. First it started with birds suddenly dying and falling out of the sky, and cows dying where they stood. Then it moves to humans.
Imagine one day having a sudden headache, and hours later you’re bleeding from your nose..quite badly. And then, you die. That has to be one of the worst ways to die; something that a doctor can’t cure, and it’s just so painful. Not only that, but people are starting to mysteriously disappear into thin air (even the corpses of the dead).
Stephen sees this and orders the government to quarantine the village and block all ways in and out in order to isolate it. The government, trying not to cause mass-panic, tells people that it’s just a case of the Flu. They also cut phone lines and tell everyone to constantly listen to the radio for updates.

But due to Kate, this being is managing to circumvent the quarantine and starts to spread. Stephen is forced to make a decision he wishes he didn’t have to, which is to purge the infected. This decision is highly debated by a few of his colleagues (for good reason), but eventually realize there’s no other option; for this ‘flu’ needs to be stopped before it gets any worse. The public is kept in the dark during this process.

Sadly, this too doesn’t stop it (unknown to Stephen). It is assumed at this time that the entity has spread across the globe, wiping out the human race. He hides in a bunker, waiting for the bombs to fall. He’s then confronted by the entity, and then threatens to burn himself with a lighter (after soaking himself in gasoline) in order to keep it from taking him. Then suddenly, he sees a glimpse of…Kate. Kate IS the entity! But he drops the lighter in shock and ignites the gasoline, killing himself.

So we find out Kate is “the only one left”. Clearly, she managed to communicate with the light being that killing the human race, not cool bro. It retorts in..something that made me think for the longest time (enough to make this post).
It feels “by killing the human race, no one will be alone. I did everyone a favor. Now they will live eternally in light. They were going to die anyway, and I helped speed that along.”

…..Wow. I just..don’t know what to say about that ending. Err, actually, I do have something. I would refuse this ‘gift’. Because this ‘gift’ is too painful to endure.
Dying, is scary. It’s the unknown, and most humans are naturally scared of the unknown (with some embracing it in order to understand it).
Being told “do you want to see your lost loved ones again? I can give it to you. But you’ll suffer pain you’ve never felt in your life and die a horrible death. How does that sound?”
The natural response would be “Ohh HELL NAW!!” Wouldn’t it? It would be mine. Then again, you may not even have a choice. We cannot choose when we die. It just happens.

But now I have to go over things that did, and didn’t make sense.
First off.. Kate. Wow. Not only did she not really want to be a part of anyone, but then gets cheated on by her husband. No wonder she allowed this. She wanted the world to burn due to being pissed off.
Yet it also raises a question. …Who the fuck do we play as? Kate? Yet since she is the entity, then who are we, and why can’t we run? I was hoping to find the answer somewhere in the game, but it never showed up.
Lastly, if Kate “hates the world”, why is she showing the player these images of the recent past? Is the player stuck in purgatory? Are we the one that refused the ‘gift’, yet forgot what happened and now we’re reliving history? That could explain why we can’t run. Maybe we’re in some kind of zombie-like state.

After what has happened with this election… I still dunno. I don’t like the thought of my brain exploding due to a tumor that has grown faster than any tumor out there.

And that’s why I felt I absolutely had to make a blog post about this. Thanks for reading!

Medieval Engineers – PC Game Review

From the developers of Miner Wars 2081 and Space Engineers, comes Medieval Engineers — Keen’s attempt of recreating the dark ages of castles and catapults. Now with planets!
But is this game really worth your gold? Come to yee ole Inn and rest while the bard sings a song!
NOTE: This is an Early Access game, and is likely to be updated with new features and changes in the future. However, I am reviewing this game as it stands currently.
.

Title: Medieval Engineers
ESRB Rating: T
Developer: Keen Software House
Publisher: Keen Software House
Price Tag: $20 on Steam
Release Date: February 19th, 2015
Game Engine: VRAGE
Available for these other systems: N/A
Number of Players: Single/Multiplayer
Genre: Creative Sandbox

Game Features: Build small houses, a town, and even a fully-sized castle in this medieval era style game. The player also needs to defend their castle from Barbarians (and other players if playing Multiplayer).

Story: In this sandbox game, the player makes their own story.

Main Character: N/A, the player is the main character.

Side Characters: There are no side characters at this time.

Enemies: As of now, Barbarians are the only enemy in the game. They randomly spawn, attack (and can destroy) the player’s structures. Thankfully they can be turned off.

Combat/Health System: Combat is as basic as you can get in the dark ages; attack with melee weapons (such as swords), or build and use a catapult to take down an enemy’s castle.

Maps/Levels/Chapters: Currently there is one planet, with five named quadrants(the 5th being the other side of the planet). In these quadrants are sectors which (taking a wild guess) are around 16×16 meters. The player can Fast Travel to any of these sectors as long it’s not obstructed by rocky terrain or enemy bases.

.
What I liked;
-Has a familiar GUI as Space Engineers.
-The game runs pretty smooth, so far.
-Gravity’s a bitch, and will turn against the player if they don’t build their structures correctly. This can be turned off, though.
-Trees have realistic physics when hit by a force like a cannonball.
-The gameworld looks absolutely stunning and realistic.
-You actually have to build a catapult part by part, and watch it assemble before your eyes.

What I didn’t like;
-Where’s the dragons?! Castles, yet no dragons. Wow. (BTW, this is a joke dislike)
-The Fast Travel system feels clunky to use.
-Very limited types of trees (only Pine).
-Very limited types of furniture (such as chairs that cannot be sat in).
-The game’s only tutorial is a Youtube video, which is very outdated (as in the game’s release date).
-No water..anywhere on the planet. Not even placeholders (which Space Engineers has).
-The game is mainly designed to be played in Multiplayer, as there’s no NPC townspeople.

Final Opinions/Thoughts;
I really hated listing all of these dislikes(except the “no dragons” one but that was a joke), but the game really feels…empty to me. Clearly it’s meant to play in Multiplayer, as there’s no real point to build these castles when it’s pretty much lifeless with just you there.
The game’s space counterpart was more fun to me, mainly due to the fact I enjoyed myself in single player. This? Again, it feels empty and not inspiring to even build a small hut let alone a castle.

Of course, this game is Early Access and more updates are likely in the future. Hopefully most if not all of these lacks to the actual gameplay (for SINGLEplayer and not just Multiplayer) are addressed and taken care of with the love and respect this game deserves.
But as of this time, I cannot recommend this game. Again, this could change in the future. But I’m reviewing it here and now, and this is what I thought of it.
Though we must also remember what Space Engineers started with. Without planets, it was nothing but a ship destruction derby of smashing ships into other ships. Boy, how that has changed.

Ready to do reviews again!

I just got done with all the setup of getting the new hard drive for my PS4 installed and set up. It was shockingly…easy, even for me. Amazed how easy it was to pop out the old drive and install the new one.
If only if it was that easy to replace hard drives in a PC, without needing to fiddle with cables and jumper settings and all of that other crap.
Anyway, I did backup all of my save data to a very large (and a very fast) 128GB flash drive. Another amazing thing, of how technology has advanced from the days of Pong.

I’m also re-downloading last month’s PS+ games, and this months. Turns out I could just easily do this instead of thinking Sony is a money-hungry asshole for not allowing it. 😛

And you guys are in for a treat! Because my first game review will appear here in just under an hour from now. This had me…actually playing another game than WoW (shock and awe!!) and my thoughts on it. What I can say without revealing too much about said game, I expected better from the developers (as these developers have made other games that I liked).

Except the other reviews to be spread out from today to Wednesday (due to Election Day). But be patient. They’re coming, guys! I promise!

Direwolf20 Modpack (1.10) coming ‘SoonTM’!

It is, really, amazing what games are passing you by when you’re focusing on one game (that you may or may not even enjoy playing).
Hell, there’s four games I could be playing besides WoW;
Wurm Online (finally going on that multi-island trip I’ve planned out for months)
Fallout 4 (bought the Season Pass when it went on sale)
DOOM (completing the Single Player campaign)
…and Minecraft.

Minecraft in particular, I’ve been waiting months if not years for Direwolf20 to release his next Modpack. And it seems, that wait could be reaching the end in the very near future.

On his Twitch stream, he has announced that he’s sent ‘the list’ to FTB, and the latest Direwolf20 pack is in production! And the release date.. may come as early as next Monday (IF his testers find nothing gamebreaking).
He says that most of the mods would be familiar to us, but some of them will not be (and doesn’t want to give out spoilers).

I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t wait for this! This has me pumped. I can’t wait to see the new mods and try them out.

Patch 7.1.5 PTR news will be delayed (from me)

And another BlizzCon is in the books.
Sometime today, the PTR for Patch 7.1.5 should be coming up. However, there will be quite the lengthy delay until I start posting what I’ve seen and stuff, due to four reasons;
1. Trying to solo SoO (halfway through but didn’t complete it in time for BlizzCon).
2. Trying to catch up with the GNE at WP11 which is nearly 7k away. Not fun.
3. The promise I made to you guys that I would restart reviewing games this Monday.
4. The forth reason has been the reason I got so delayed in watching (and posting about) the panels of Day 2 of BlizzCon yesterday. See, my father has a PS4. He doesn’t use it for the same reason I do (game reviews), but he does play games. He also was running out of space, and ‘picked’ yesterday, the worst possible day to be bugged (when I’m trying to be focused), to get me to help him set it up and stuff.
–A side-effect of this is I too am running out of space on my PS4. However, I’m going to wait ’till after I review these games before I replace the drive in it.
So yeah. Busy November for me. I did not expect Blizzard releasing the next patch on the PTR so early. Still, I’ll work around it.
Argo, until I’m able to get my shit together to be able to do these PTR patch review posts, you guys have options. You can either check out BellularGaming for your PTR news (once he starts doing them), or MMO-Champion.

I hope all of you understand. Sorry for the quick post.

BlizzCon 2016 – Day 2 (Saturday, November 5th)

Day 2 is here. But for the first time in the history of myself attending BlizzCon (via the Virtual Ticket), real life bugged the hell out of me. That, and I also not only missed the EU launch of the GNE to WP11..but also the US launch. I hate missing the launches for the GNE in Elite Dangerous. Thankfully this’ll be the only time I’ll miss them, and.. just, whatever. It’s so hard to focus on just one online game, of one event that only happens once a year.
But you know, life sucks.

The other problem is the promise that they made, of all steamed panels would be available in the archives. But no. 1/3rd of the panels didn’t show up in the archives, so what happened to this promise?
So I think this is the last time I buy a Virtual Ticket and just give my opinion on what MMO-Champion posts about what’s going on, next year. Honestly, that’s the better option than spend $40.

Anyway, let’s go over to what I didn’t miss.
The first one was the ‘Legion Design Retrospective’ WoW Panel. It basically covered the development of Legion (yet no mention about WoD being a filler expansion), from what was cut, to the reasoning behind World Quests.
It was interesting, but it didn’t make me pumped for the future of WoW. They didn’t even go over why they chose to have very little rep gear (except “dailies should be ‘fun’!!”).
Yes, dailies should be fun. But give me more options to gear up instead of Heroics and WQs!

Next off, was a discussion of the cinematics and cutscenes of Legion. The first one was rather tear-jerking of seeing Ysera die infront of our eyes (spoiler alert). Even I felt the water coming out of my eyes. But it was awesome how they wanted to show this emotion to the player (and mentioned the music they used). Plus saying when they had her looking up at Elune: “she’s still a tragic victim, unlike Deathwing and Malygos”. And to end it, one said “at least you saved her soul”. That… that… *tears come to eyes again* ..I’m not crying!! It’s just something in my eyes!
But they tried to change the mood by talking about the badass cinematic of Sylvanas VS Greymane, and several others (how they captured Varian in his final moments, etc).
One of my favorite panels of BlizzCon. Always good to watch.

And then there’s the final panel; the WoW Q&A. Overall, I found the questions were pretty good. While I didn’t see the entire panel (due to multiple reasons), one thing’s for sure… this woman named “Panser” (aka ‘TradeChat’ on Youtube) who was the Moderator (first time I’ve seen this happen) made me cringe everytime she spoke. What really made me cringe was someone asking about if gnomes would get more specs. The person mentions about Gnome Druids and the Moderator’s all “Yes, tiny little Druid forms!! 😀 “.. Ugh. Never watched TradeChat, and this gives me a reason never to do so.
Oh yeah. Our hero, Red Shirt Guy showed up again! It was bound to happen. And his question was pretty good.
Right… now for the questions. They varied from wondering what happened to certain people, to wondering what the future of Artifact Weapons would be.
Three of these questions caught my eye. The first one was about Ysera “dying a ‘Game of Thrones style’ death” (with a big “SPOILER ALERT!!!” being yelled by someone in the audience). Their answer was “her spirit still lives on” and “I wouldn’t hold on to her being gone for good”. ..Interesting. Will Ysera make a reappearance as a human? Who knows.

Second one was about Wrathalon and why he wasn’t in Legion. Their answer was “he was cut due to complexity”, “he’s just wondering around”, and “we will see him again in a future content update”. Nice.

Final question was about the WoW Token. Yes, it still exists. But…”we have plans to expand it in the very near future” to include the ability to turn it into B-Net currently to purchase Char Transfers/Race and Faction Transfer/etc. I have mixed opinions about this (hearing players purchase these things for Blizzard to offer them for Gold).

And that was it for the Q&A. Going over what MMO-Champion posted, there was no questions of questlines requiring Mythics to complete. Not happy about that news. But, Ion did say (back in October) there would be more Q&A’s coming sometime after BlizzCon. So I still have a chance to voice my opinion on it. 😛

.
And by the time I completed editing this .. good lord, 39 revision post(soon to be 40 once I hit the Update button), the Closing Ceremony is finishing up (and I’m missing it). But oh well.
So that covers it for this year. Good year, but the stream could had been better. Can’t believe I missed so much that I’ll never be able to watch.

BlizzCon 2016 – Day 1 (Friday, November 4th)

So the day *kind of* started at 2pm EDT, but there was a very strange 17 minute delay in the stream(that really made its presence known with the Opening Ceremony ending much later than the schedule said, and wouldn’t allow me to watch the other panels until then). Thankfully they seem to have fixed this issue by the time they talked about what’s next for Legion.
The show started with the CEO of Blizzard mentioning that soon it’ll be Blizzard’s 25th anniversary (with Diablo having its 20th anniversary). Then he went over the success of the WARCRAFT movie, and then mentioned “our next content update is already in the works” for WoW. Though I love how quiet the claps were of ‘enjoying Karazan’.
Then it moved on with the other games of Blizzard, starting with Overwatch. What started as them going over the launch of the game, turned into a pretty cool movie of a new character (named “Sombra”) to join the game (and the announcement of a new e-sport).

Starcraft II was next, with a guy from Google (part of ‘DeepMind’) who’s working on the future of AI and gaming, talking about Google’s self-driving cars and stuff. He’s co-oping with Blizzard to work with Starcraft 2 (of having actual AI play the game). The reason for this is testing purposes (of the advancements of AI programming).
This is pretty cool. I wonder how much Google paid Blizzard to do this.
Next, they went over the Heroes of The Storm, starting with a video about Varian’s memory, and eventually announcing that he and Ragnoros will be playable characters.
And finally, Hearthstone with their next expansion announcement. Once again, they go big. Big as in Gadgetzan’s alternate reality of greatly thriving and expanding since the cataclysm. But with it being so big, people with illegit tendencies also hide in the city’s mean streets, hence the newest expansion: “Mean Streets of Gadgetzan”.

Finally, we now go over the future of Legion (and the future of WoW). Ion is trying to defend the game the best he can from a mob of unhappy WoW players.
First, he speaks about the questionably delayed content of Legion. But to me he didn’t once say about “we’re sorry you feel forced to do Mythics”. He mentioned about the pacing of the game and “trying not to fall behind”. Which is probably why it feels so time gated.
He goes over what patches were in the past and why they did them like that.
…And then he says something stupid. Well, two stupid things;
“There’s something for everybody to engage with”. Yet left out the “…as long as you like time gates” part.
“Making you wait, it’s not fair! It’s not right!” Yet why do the fuck you do it by forcing casuals to do Mythics to complete a quest?! Huh, Ion? The thing he meant by “making you wait” is patch-related.

With that out of the way, he goes over Patch 7.1.5. He calls it “Legion’s first ‘small patch'”. This is what’s going to be in it;
-More Timewalking, but using MoP’s dungeons.
-More Brawler’s Guild, with a new “pull everyone in madness” mechanic.
-Micro-holidays (examples include Silithus effort day/’be a guard’ day/’go boating’ day/”take the servers down..LOL Trolled” day). Ion does state they won’t have any real rewards for completing these, but it’s “just something fun and different to do”.
-Blade’s Edge Arena update.
-Class updates. Restoring traps for BM Hunters.
–This patch is “SoonTM” (will be on the PTR after BlizzCon).

And now Patch 7.2 (titled “The Tomb of Sargeras”) is being talked about. The future of Legion is coming. Here. we. go.
-‘The Tomb of Sargeras’ raid (9 boss raid), altering the Broken Shore. This will come after the Nighthold raid. Kil’jaden makes a reappearance.
-Class Order Campaigns will continue (which will go to this raid).
-New World Quests. Ion says he’s “happy how World Quests have been so far” and “we want to do more with it”.
-Base building and planning an assault of the Broken Shore.
-The Legion will be assaulting current zones in the Broken Isles, and we must help our newly found allies. This will disable World Quests in a zone and change the skybox and add new types of quests to defeat the Legion forces.
…Flying? Yes. Part Two of the Broken Isles Pathfinder achievement can be done and completed (which will allow flying).
-But what is even better than flying? How about a custom class mount?! This is the reward for *re*completing your Order Hall questline.
-New ‘patch dungeon’; “Cathedral of Eternal Light’ (4-boss dungeon, Heroic and Mythic only).
-Changes to PvP, called ‘PvP Brawls’. Something they’re trying out.(Bleh)
-Changes to Artifact Weapons. New traits, knowledge levels, relics that can modify two traits(instead of just one). Continuing of the artifact questline and a new appearance for the weapon. One that is -NOT- gated behind a Mythic, but the ability to learn your spec (in other words, your art of soloing content).
-Updates to current dungeons. Increases in difficulty for Heroic and Mythic. Buuuuutttt…. Suramar dungeons will be queueable in Heroic.
-Release date is unknown, but Ion claims it will pop up on the PTR after 7.1.5 goes live.

The future of WoW, it’s official. We’re going to Argus next expansion to finally defeat the Legion. It seems WoW’s not going to die anytime soon. Though by going by Ion’s voice, it seems Blizzard themselves too feel the game has been going on for long enough, and it might be time to work on a new game (maybe this ‘WoW 2’ that has been speculated).
The reason is, there would be really nothing left to fight. We would had killed a Titan; the cause of the Burning Legion. Deathwing’s dead(by Thrall). The Lich King is.. well, frozen. Garrosh got rekt by Thrall (because fuck being fair when you’re a Shaman). The only other thing we would possibly need to go after is the Old Gods.

…….
Right! That wraps up Day 1 of all WoW-related panels. Time for my thoughts. First off, Patch 7.1.5.
While most of what they’re bringing to the table isn’t interesting to me, the ‘Micro-holidays’ and the class changes are. The micro-holidays sound really promising, as these holidays aren’t focused on a time that WoW didn’t exist yet. The current holidays were fun back in Vanilla, but they’ve really lost their novelty. Having holidays that players were a part of, is awesome. I love it.
I would even go as far as to mark the first time I solo’d a dungeon as a holiday. Don’t remember what day it was, though. But I do remember what level I was and the class (and even what I was wearing).
It would be called “Dungeon Soloing Day”. Make the most money and win the respect of your fellow players. Oh! OH!! Or even better…. “Casual Appreciation Day”! A day where hardcore players must respect casuals. #CasualLivesMatter 😛

And the thing about class balancing is something I’m not holding my breath. I do like how he said “it was a mistake” that traps should only be for Survival Hunters. To acknowledge they were wrong, boosts confidence that they’re going to try to not make that mistake again. THIS… this is what I want to hear more of! THIS is going to win back my trust.

But let’s be reasonable here, people. There’s got to be a catch. Look at their track record. They aren’t going to just give us back what they took from us, just like that. No. Not without stripping them of all of their good parts and giving us what’s left (which would likely be worse than what it was in the past).
Of course, I could be wrong here. But I wouldn’t jump for joy. Not yet.

.
Now we move on my thoughts to Patch 7.2.
Tomb of Sargeras raid? Don’t care. The raiders will deal with it as they always do (and save Azeroth), and I won’t have to lift a finger.

Class Order Campaigns restarting? Don’t like hearing this. I liked the fact I was DONE with the fucking thing. I can feel even more ‘forced’ content with it. But when it comes out in the PTR sometime next year (I’m going to guess by February or March), I’ll check it out.

Base building? Ehhh.. I dunno. It feels (and even looked like(going by the picture)) the outposts from WoD. Then again it could also be like the Molten Front in Cata (which Suramar’s storyline is using). It’s neutral to me. I neither like nor dislike it.

Having the Legion finally showing their might by invading certain zones (and using our allies(hopefully the ones that actually helped us to secure some of the Pillars of Creation))? I like this. It’s about time that the ‘chore list’ feel of endgame content is mixed up and gets more interesting and chaotic.
I’m for this! More of this, Blizzard! Though I feel this is going to eventually get boring and dull as World Quests are after doing them for a week. Still, it’s new, and I want to see it! 🙂

Allowing flying in Legion. It’s about time, but it’s not really going to interest me to grind rep. I’ll just keep my feet on the ground.
And the new class mounts look pretty awesome. Find the Rogue one a bit odd (how is a Rogue attached to a crow? The crow should had been the Hunter mount). And the Hunter mount? I…don’t like it. Looks weird. Like some kind of wolf..bird thing. Do like how it’s red, though. But …HOLY FUCK, ‘dat Death Knight mount, though! Not only is it a dragon, but it actually breathed fel fire before the video cut out. 😮 EPIC much?

Moving on to the changes to Artifact Weapons. Hearing there’s going to be a solo questline for seeing how good of a soloer you are. Hearing what Ion said does have me a bit worried, though. Likely this thing I would face as a BM Hunter would require 850+ ilvl gear to survive, and I’m 825 currently. …Yeah, I got a lot of catching up to do. Thankfully, I like how it’s optional (just ignore the quest).
The BM Hunter weapon appearance does look pretty cool, though. Looks like a crossbow with a shark head that’s choking on a large dagger.

So dungeons now. The thing that I’m still debating if it’s worth staying with WoW (my decision will come later). Ion says that he…likes the way dungeons are. Ok. Dungeons, they’re fine. No problem. They look good. Yet again, no mention on forced Mythics to complete questlines (or even to make queuing for Mythic through LFG possible).
And then it feels like as if I’m Anger from Inside Out and fire just shot out of my head. Because that is exactly what it felt like when Ion mentioned that dungeons (Heroic AND Mythic)….will be harder in 7.2. WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!
He states “what’s the point of doing Heroics when we’re all in much better gear than that”. *cough* *cough* *choking on idiocy* Wow, Ion. Wow. I expected to hear this from a typical toxic player in General Discussion, thinking he speaks for everyone. But not from the lead dev of WoW! What about people who would be just starting in 7.2? You’re punishing them by making that content harder.
You cannot just…assume everyone will have high gear by then. There will always be late comers.
Maybe I’m overreacting as always, and this will be OK. Maybe they’ll work something out and base it from the leader’s ilvl or something to make it fair for people who are trying to catch up.. I dunno. All I do know is it’s bad enough that questlines require a Mythic to complete. And now he wants to make it harder on us.
Then again, maybe this is a GOOD thing. By making dungeons harder, they’ll drop better gear (or you’ll get better gear from World Quests). The thing I worry about is going to be the insane ilvl requirements for entering these harder dungeons.

Hmm. With that last thought, maybe it isn’t the end of the world. 😛
Just have to see how it plays out. Surely if it’s ridiculous, they’ll hopefully change it to be more reasonable.
So… I’m going to stay with WoW. I’m just curious what will be said at tomorrow’s Q&A.
