Yay. First post of the new month!

On June 30th, Rolf made a post in the Wurm Forum stating the reason for the constant server downtime, blaming it on DDoS; or “Distributed Denial of Service”, which is another way of saying, this is a hacker attack on the server.
If this is linked to the hacker attack that happened several months ago, we’re in for a long week without Wurm every night.
At least however, I won’t have to post every time the server goes down.

Anyway, with it down, I might as well post the status of the boat.
So far, progress has been quite slow. All that has to be done now is to make some hull planks and get some tar, then lock 2 of the 3 keel sections together to make the boat.
Thanks to Beel I got the 3 keel sections I needed, as I explained in the post below this. Though actually, I could’ve done them myself, IF I had Carpentry and Ship building at 20.00.
Due to the fight me, him, and angry had today over money and the boat, well… I won’t be able to count on Beel to make the hull planks I need.
So, I’ll have to make them myself.

I have no choice but to boringly and tirelessly get both up. I know I can get Carp up by simply making planks, then throw them in a fire or something since they won’t be used for anything. But Ship building is the bitch.
As I was told in the Wurm Forum, Oar imping is the best way to up it. Not to what I’ve been seeing. Since I got it above 5.00, how much I get for each successful imp has been slowing down.
Not to mention, with my Carp at 15…something, I think it was 15.60 or something before, my log-making skills suck and the QL is way lower than what I need to imp oars, when it needs a log.

I guess I should stick with making Tenons and Pegs, since maybe making stuff is better than imping.
I do however have the Stern built and complete. It took 10 hull planks, 10 tenons, and 20 pegs.

Today with the server back up after yesterday night’s downtime, I asked on the Wurm Forum a simple question.
I wanted to know how in the HELL can you get the success chance of making a keel section up by upping your Ship building skill.
I was told to imp Oars. Seeing how I didn’t have a Pelt, that would be impossible…that is until MD(Metaldragon) showed up in my reply and said he would give me a Pelt for free, IF I make it up to NH(Northern Haven), alive.

After alot of thinking of how in the hell I’m going to get there without becoming lunch for the hostiles, I agreed I would go up there. I would head to the Village of Small Bears and hopefully find someone that would loan me a boat or a ride up there.

When I made it there ok, I asked around. A guy called ‘Labs’ came up to me and said he would take me. At first I thought he meant by boat, not by foot. And it was by foot.

But, we made it, alive and in one piece. And I met up with MD. Me, him, and Labs went on a boat ride on the wat(and my first ever boat ride in Wurm. Was really fun).
Then MD and I went on a little hunt so I could get a pelt threw this forest. I followed him the best I could and soon he found a hostile and I got my pelt.

We got back on the boat, he made me the Mooring rope I needed, gave me 20 meals(all at 0.40 kg, and medium QL). And then told me and Labs some bad news. NH is planning to disband and they’re going to Wild in 1-2 days. 😛
Before this though, I saw a boat that they’re working on. A rather large ship. The “knarr” boat. Apparently they’re going to use it to get to Wild.
Soon it was time to head back to SoTR. And MD escorted me to NT on foot, while I made my way back myself.

The rest of the day and now night after I got back hasn’t been pleasant. Including yet another server downtime.

With Wurm back online(thank goodness) I’ve been busy making pieces for the boat while Beel has been somewhere else. In other words, I’ve been on my own today.
So far I have made the Pegs, Tenons, Seats, and Oars. However the oars require a file to finish. I don’t have said file so I’ve been asking around in Local, only to find no one has said file. 😛

I am finding out that making a boat, even the Rowing boat, isn’t as easy as I thought it was. Mainly due to the keel sections. With keels, it seems like you have to deforest a huge area just to make ONE keel section. The 16% chance of success doesn’t help either.

What’s worse, angry has my flint rock. So I can’t make a campfire to burn these wood scraps without one. I can’t even make a replacement without one! 🙁

With my obsession, I have always thought of a “Dragon World”(don’t call me crazy!). But one thing I never figured out why Wurm was named the way it was.
Until today… if you put 2 and 2 together, it makes sense.
Wurm = Wyrm! Weird huh? The name of this game is actually a “portal” of a dragon age.

This is why “Wurm” or “Wyrm”, could be an alternate dimension of The Dragon World. The fact Wurm looks like my visions of this world ruled by dragons, except by humans.
Why would this game have this name if it wasn’t dragon-related? Wurm is just Wyrm without the ‘y’.
As for the 3 moons orbiting, the names could be in ancient dragon tounge.

Wurm has alot of wars. And how it started in the dark ages begins to prove my point.
But so. I got my point that Wurm is Wyrm. This is something probley has been known YEARS before I even heard of the game. Why am I just now discussing something that feels like I could be thrown in the loony bin for thinking of another world??

I guess I’m just tired and bored from waiting for the server to come back on, and I don’t got angry to talk to. 😛 But it’s a nice, but strange to other people thought to think about.

Well… I’m off to bed. This has been one long and wacky week for me and I need my rest. Pray that Wyr..err, Wurm will be back online tomorrow.

Wurm has been down for (looks at clock and yawns) 8+ hours now. People on the Wurm Forums are thinking of 4 things;

1. The server is being wiped (aka a restart).
2. Rolf is installing Gold 3.
3. Connections to the server are being rejected for some unknown reason.
4. Possible new record of the server being down.

#3 seems to be what’s going on. I’m not really seeing this problem, just lockups when trying to connect.
The server will probley be back online tomorrow, but not without alot of pissed Prems, saying they’re going to want refunds.

Rolf could’ve shut down the servers to fix this.. disbanding deed bug. Apparently it cannot be fixed by a mere patch.
I’m just glad I got everything I needed to do while the server was still up! Such as finish the house, and see the rest of BBH. All of this might be all gone if Rolf is wiping the server and putting Gold 3 on it.

There’s even people trying to be funny(they’re called ‘lamers’), tricking others into thinking it’s up, only to crush their hopes and dreams. These lamers should be burned by the mighty dragons of Wurm.

After what seemed like nearly 2 hours, I finally finished what angry started, and I feel I have redeemed myself. Or at least helped.
After finishing, I went south to see what the rest of BBH looked like(including my old HS). Most of the change I saw is right around where our old camp is.
There’s a new village I’m guessing being built to the right of the new road to Greenside. 4 months ago it was nothing but trees.
As for the old camp… wow has it changed. It’s bigger and wider, and angry was right when he said it was walled up and he couldn’t really look in it.
I decided to take the now fully paved road to Pinevale to see if it still exists. As I made my way, I saw a new, small village to the right. It looked deserted though. There was no houses.
As for Pinevale and the other road leading to the North-South section of BBH, nothing has changed.

Soon, I went to see what my old HS looked like. And the only REAL changes I’ve seen are added fences, trees, and bushes. It’s still owned by Halcyon. As for the trees, they are fully grown and beautiful.
The path I made to my failed island is still there in a way. A part of it is missing. And at the very end, the person put a wooden floor on it.
I found out who owns the deed. A person named “Ruffle”. Angry told me yesterday that he’s trying to contact him in hopes that he will let me have my land back.

Evening fell in Wurm and I had to head back to SoTR. I went up North to see what’s left of Bearback Crossroads. It too has changed, but somewhat. It’s now called Trader Post, with a new house for traders and merchants. My guess is it’s to eliminate the need to go to NT? If so, I’m all for it.

Soon I go back to SoTR and I find Beelzeboss in a (Bleeding) state. When I went to ask him what’s going on, he told me there’s a bear in town and to not go there. And he was going to tame him. And tame him he did.
And as I was typing this blog, he comes up to me and tells me about his new bear he calls “Hatenator”, and how he can hate people. And once again, the guy bugs me for money. 😛 Saying he’ll get the bear to hate me.

Soon I give up and say that I will cover for the donation to preserve SoTR (but mainly to shut him up about money!). Now I feel like I’ve got myself into a sticky situation. But all I have to do is pay for this thing and he’ll leave me and angry alone.
He told me he’ll do this and that for me, making me a high citizen, and building a colossus. I told him I’m only doing it to shut him up.
If angry was here, he’ll probley tell me to not do it. To just ignore him because he’s a beggar. But this won’t really hurt me. I just need to find out what the current cost of converting USD to Euro is now. The guy said it might be around 35-40$ for 25s, which he needs to get a Size 5 Village.

That’s not the only reason though. Wurm needs the money to help the economy. Rolf himself said in a post that they welcome any and all people who wish to pay for silver, as it helps them afford more for Wurm. So doing this is actually a good thing. 🙂

I finally decided to come back to Wurm yesterday after what angry said was a 4-month hiatus.
And I must say, the old BBH(Bearback Highway) has changed in places. On my way there, I saw what looked like two mounts for Colossus’, with one already built. Both near Roadside.
Finally made it to SoTR to meet up with angry and another guy who goes by the name of “Beelzeboss”. This guy needs donations to preserve SoTR by buying a Size 5 Village Deed.
Anyway, angry put me to work sawing logs into planks for his house, which he promptly renamed it to include my name in it.
As I worked, I was attacked from behind by a Young black wolf. I had help from Beelzeboss who tamed the little ass-chewing bastard.
Time went on and I made 50+ planks. Soon I ran out of logs, and angry suggested I make a Mallet for him to help me build his house(and to get my Carpentry skill up). After what seemed like 16 failures and 10 minutes later, I had a Mallet.
Though it was a low QL mallet who angry tried to fix but needed more tools, so he ran off to NT for 15 minutes to fetch some stuff.

This is when things started to get rather hilarious for me. When angry was starting to make his way back, I tricked him into thinking something awful was happening back at where I was. Why? Well I was trying to get my revenge for what he did in the forum.
However this plan backfired and my laughter stopped to the point that I didn’t know what to say to him. It wasn’t the actual plan though, but what I said in my blog post that today I removed to clear my head.

He said what he read made him nearly want to cancel the site all together. But he stopped himself when he remembered a promise he made never to really hurt me.
Ever since I read that, I felt sick to my stomach and didn’t know what to think or do. I was in a state of shock. Still am too.

A simple apology just doesn’t seem the right thing to say, as the other thing he said that if this happened 2 years ago, it would’ve stopped us from being friends, and DCF would be no more.
But this isn’t 2 years ago, and he said that it’s normal for us to fight like this, because it shows our friendship.
I don’t really see how in the hell that could be possible, as the only thing that went threw my mind for the remainder of the night was the fact I could’ve lost DCF because of my temper.

But I am sorry to him. All I could’ve just said was “angry. Please stop editing my posts, k?”. But no. My anger took over which was thrown in the trash by his. I did apologize to him yesterday and he said it’s fine.

I need to find a way to redeem myself though. To really show I’m sorry. Like maybe help complete our house in Wurm while he’s off with his dad’s for the weekend.

There’s 1 thing good about angry though. He doesn’t hold grudges for things we do. AKA, he isn’t pissed about this anymore. So why is it still bothering me?
