Month 2 of the founding of Oceanside Retreat / Deed Recap

Two months of living here. But you must be asking yourself, “are you going to make a blog entry every month?”, and the answer.. I dunno.
But as I read my old blog entries, I’m glad and proud I can fully take care of myself without ever needing angry’s help. Especially the fact Stew is still working for me and I can get my alt on to fix as much as I need.
Fuck this penalty to skills for having low nutrition. I don’t give a shit about skilling. Why I haven’t made a bed yet.
Also, the increased heating speeds of campfires/forges/ovens is making my life alot easier compared to back then.

With this second month, I felt like going back in time to the days of JK-H all the way to my first Homestead, and how it progressed to Oceanside Retreat.
The reason why I want to is to show this is the second known place I’ve stayed here for longer than a month (going back to the original location of Benie’s Homestead, I stayed for just over two months).

Another hiatus. Other games keep me away from Wurm

Ok. Angry got me into Minecraft via the “/give” command that only works in a server. So I made my own and been working on an idea.

This means I haven’t been paying the attention I need to in Wurm. And how I feel right now, I wish I never came back. Because I feel like Wurm is a weight attached to my leg, holding me down and keeping me from playing other games besides it.

There’s not anything to do in Wurm anyway. I’ve done everything I want to do in there, and now it just feels boring to me. Why?
I can’t do shit with the pier because of the fucking Clay, and I don’t need to go anywhere in the server to get anything (except maybe a faster sickle). Wurm is fun in its own way. But so is Minecraft, which is more fun because I don’t have to deal with fucking restrictions (or failing to remove a block 25 times in a row) like in Wurm. The only failure is my imagination not working like it used to.

But I know if I don’t come back at least once a week to check up on the village, I’m going to lose it or something else is going to happen. Like my house or other stuff decays or my horses get a disease and kills them all. Wurm isn’t a single player game where I can just backup the save, uninstall, and play some other time (though it would be nice right about now…).
But if Wurm was a single player game, I would had never made a blog for it!

And now I feel like wanting to torrent Fallout: New Vegas and play it after watching a stream from a friend of mine, who says the $50 isn’t worth it. And from what I’ve seen, he’s right.
If it was like $15, then it is.

I haven’t even finished playing the DLC I bought for Borderlands.

A “small” trip to areas east of Samling / Impalong location and timeframe revealed

Since the lamps are made and I have nothing I want to do, I decided to take a trip to Ultimarus. Why? I happened to stumble upon their recruitment thread in the Wurm Forums, heard the reviews of other travelers, and decided to check it out for myself.

So I sailed there by boat while my alt fished. Nearly to Samling I realized I forgot to take something. Something with four legs and I can ride. My speedy horse I paid to breed my two females.
Turns out I didn’t have to spend the money, and the females didn’t need to be bred. They weren’t ‘dying’ like I thought they were.
Anyway, I got back home and tried to lead him to my boat. Yet it seemed like he suddenly had the “Strong Willed” trait (Randomly refuses to follow).
When I finally got him to the boat, he constantly lagged behind me. So much I got fed up and took one of the two females that already gave birth, and she obeyed my commands.

Finally I got to Samling with a horse behind me, parked the boat by a coast road leading to some merchants East of Samling, mounted on my horse and headed towards Xanadu.
Getting there I tried to find the road continuing to go East. After some searching I finally found it. Leaving Xanadu through a palisade gate, I was welcomed by an awesome road that reminded me of exploring the hidden roads east and south of NT. Town over here. Town over there. And signs showing the way.

I continued on the one tiled cobblestone path, heading to Black Pine Forest. Continuing to go down the path, the scenery changed to all pine trees. Beautiful.. pine trees, for as far as I can see. I swear when I first saw it, I wasn’t in a game anymore.
Did I mention I love pine trees in this game? Not only that they’re the best trees for planking, but the beauty of one.

As sunset began, I finally made it to Ultimarus. And it’s just like the pictures showed. Great design and everything. Infact it had everything. Merchants, a public trader, a tavern called the “Laughing Rolf Tavern” (perfect name I may add), all three altars that you can pray to your god, even a public combat training area complete with an archery range.

Night fell. As I waited for the lamps in the settlement to turn on I begin to wonder if I should head back home, or try to see the White Dragon since I’m all the way out here.
But, you know me.. so, off to the white dragon! Unfortunately I never got to meet it.
I followed the Freedom Highway (the diagonal road from Xanadu to Lock Haven) all the way down.

Halfway down I stopped at Pohjanmaa and asked for directions of the white dragon. I was told there is no known road going there. The only way is to climb. A difficult climb at that. But I continued down the road. I wanted to see where it would take me.

Soon the diagonal road changed into a straight one. About ten seconds later I get attacked by a Mature spider, who takes a bite out of my leg. Luckily I survived with only a Light wound. After that I stopped short of the road going East all the way to Colossus Lake. I was hoping I could at least see Dracks Inn.

Looking at the time, I knew I had to get home. If I didn’t have my horse I’d explore more. But since a horse won’t log out with you, I had to get her and me home ASAP.
So I followed the road back up. Got back to the spider and walked far around the bastard and got by with no problems. Thank god there was only him and no one else.
There was also some fog, but just some. Nothing like the “EXTREEEEMEEEE FOG!!” we had yesterday. Got so bad it swallowed my house.

Got back to Xanadu as morning slowly approached. Got back to my boat and raced back home. Got my horse back in the pen and logged off with two minutes to spare. Awesome.

.
After dinner I started writing this very blog entry. Checked out the impalong thread. On a reply made on October 1st (yeah so this is late, but I rarely checked that thread), the location is mentioned and the areas it’ll be around.
It mentions a place named ‘Festival Cove’, and will be around the areas of the Cave Canal, Freedom Market, and Freedom Docks. Roughly, around the center of the server. It also mentions that you can visit Santa at the Freedom Market.
That tells me (obviously) it’ll be around Christmas. The exact day and how long it’ll be hasn’t been mentioned yet.
I actually kinda expected Santa would be at Samling, since it’s the start town. Shock to me.

New plans for the deed, and Impalong..

First off, I’ve been busy today doing some new plans I whipped up for the settlement.

First is tearing down my old 2×3 and building a 4×3 in it’s place. This also means removing the back porch.. in a way. I found a way to keep a part of it and it’s working out good. Reason why I’m tearing down my old house is because it just doesn’t seem to have the space it used to, and I need something bigger.

2nd thing is.. getting some fucking trees growing! And I’m not talking the Lemon trees that seem to be spreading like weeds around my settlement, but to make it feel more like home.. I need more pine trees. Pine and Maple. That way I can ‘harvest’ them for their wood.

3rd thing, is something I’ve been wanting to do but still don’t know how to approach it because it may look funny. I want to replace all cliff-facing low stone walls with iron fences. Why? They’re fucking awesome-looking!

4th thing is something else I have been planning, and have to get done before the 3rd thing. Trouble is, I dunno where to put it where they would have lots of room to run around.
I need to find a new location in my deed for my horses, and their soon to be children. A person mentioned in kchat of their undeeded place on Wild being attacked and looted. I wondered if the same could happen to me. Due to the position of the animal pen, it will be VERY expensive to cover it with my deed.
Whatever I do, I need to make a decision quickly before my two females give birth.

5th and final thing is to make and plant some more lamps. Since I can’t bring the deed to the lamps, I’ll bring the lamps to the deed.
QL at this time doesn’t really matter, because.. Impalong is slowly approaching.
I think I made another post somewhere in here explaining what Impalong is. If not, they imp your stuff for free. Yes, FREE! (that is unless I’ve been lied to)
All I do is wait ’till around Christmas (if I’m not busy in WoW by then) and sail down there (heard it’s supposed to be near Freedom Market) with my lamps in tow, and get them imped to 70+ QL for FREE.

I’ll probably expect alot of boat traffic down there, so if it’s a good gale on that day I’ll take my Corbita just to brag that I made it with 18 SHB. 🙂
If not, I’ll just take my sailboat.
Seriously, what’s worse? Having a crappy boat amongst all the awesome boats I’ll see there, or having to drag my Corbita down there due to no wind.

And then there’s also something else that I’m not thinking of. That many people in a big location, there’s gonna be lag. I just hope it’s taken care of. Worse that’ll happen is I’ll have to lower my settings.

Secondary path redone / Dual-client quirks are FUN… :P

I finally got the secondary path redone from me trying to dig to make a secondary mine entrance. Now that my mine’s entrance has been fixed, I’m no longer in need to make a secondary mine.
But now I have a quicker way to get up to my settlement, which is all I really wanted.

Also started working with iron fence gates. The wiki lies when it says you need ten bricks + one to lay down the foundation. You actually only need ten. Also, making iron bars is doable, but a bitch. It takes away 6.00 kg every chance to make (or fail) the iron fence bars. So much I had to get more iron ore, which I haven’t done in awhile.

After finally getting the awesome-looking gates up, I told my alt to grab the two deed gate keys and the lock I made with Volcano Forest’s crappy ore (which is OK because I can make better ones right here), get on his rowboat and row far away, and dump them at the bottom of the ocean.

.
After finishing the locks and attaching them to the gates, was the time my alt entered my local again, and made the turn toward what I like to call the ‘small boat parking pier’. I lean over the railing of my settlement watching him pull in, and notice he’s on the other side of the ‘big boat parking pier’ and ran down, wanting to see if my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me.

When I got down to the clay, his boat was IN the clay.

This is what me and my alt actually saw;
My POV. Alt has his boat parked IN the clay;

.
My alt’s POV. Alt has his boat parked in the middle of the pier. You can see me on the right side of the screen;

.
.
Seriously, I didn’t know if I should laugh or say “UGH” for the client not showing client positions right in dual-client situations. But I did eventually laugh when my alt was driving his rowboat around the pier, which to me was him driving his rowboat through the clay.

Only way to ‘fix’ this is if I log out completely and log back in in for the client to reset. I should be happy I can still dual-client in Wurm. Can’t in WoW anymore.

Having to make a ‘big’ decision / New road being planned

If you’ve been following my blog, I’ve thought of expanding my deed. Well, it’s more than I thought it would be. 24s to cover everything I own. Includes the pier and the animal farm. However, only covering the animal farm reduces this cost to 16s.
Both resizes would make my deed bigger than New Galway, which is only 17×17.

Here’s the thing. I feel that this is a waste of money. I don’t NEED the extra tiles it will give East and South of my deed.
So I don’t know if it’s more cost-effective to just disband my deed, wait 24 hours, and replant it where it will be in the smack middle of the land. So there will be no unused deed tiles.
Also, it’s just me and my alt. Not me and five+ villagers. If I expand and someone decides to walk on my deed and see how big it is compared to how small the ACTUAL deed is, I would probably be told I wasted my money and yadda yadda yadda, and be laughed at for my foolishness.

I explained some of this to angry, and he claims there was a deed long ago, east of NewTown on JK-H, that was a size 10. One guy living there, just like me. And he used the excess space to make a park around his deed. Because that’s what he wanted to do.

Well, that’s good and dandy for that guy, but I can’t see wasting that much money on something no one else is going to see.

Why am I even talking about this? The expansion is to do what should already BE done; lamps automatically coming on at night even if off-deed. That’s why I made this thread to help make it happen (I hope).

.
Other news I’d like to add, last night I bought a male horse for 45c from a settlement NW of Samling to breed with my two females, and let’s say he got busy when I got him home, and now they’re both delivering soon. Soon I will have five horses in my animal pen.

.
Also, I’m slowly gathering up the dirt I need to raise and fix my secondary path, and I’m even planning an extension of it. A helpful one. Going to extend it up the hill to the East and turn North, then connect with the road going E/W from Kinsaitos. It’ll be my first official road project. 🙂
The new road will have either stone or wooden fences lining it, protecting myself from any hostile that happens to show up along the path.

I may also add like a pit stop halfway along the path. A gravel path with a well in the middle, or infront of an oak tree. Square area around the tree with seating areas.

One month since the founding of Oceanside Retreat

Can you believe it’s already been a month? It feels like yesterday.
But it is officially one month (September 6th) of the founding of my settlement. The day Beanietwo slapped the deed down with my help, and finally left the mess that was Volcano Forest.

I still remember whacking all the trees down on the top tier, and getting my alt fishing. Then having to move the half-submerged forge sitting in the bay up the hill.

So, what are my plans for the months ahead? Thinking of doing some major terraforming on the top tier (I need to stop calling it that). Lowering it down, and kicking the road going up to Kinsaitos over so it won’t get in the way.
I want to turn that place, into Benie’s Homestead. The way it looks now is just.. way too high. And there’s no one telling me I cannot do it. I own the land, and I can do whatever the fuck I want to with it. 🙂

My concern is hitting my digging limit (207 dirts). But the Excavator title is in my grasp. I’m at 69.70. .30 to go and I’ll have it.
Second concern is my two work horses. Best way to deal with this problem is to convert what was the farm into a temporary animal pen. Horses can’t bash down walls, and horses are supposed to be penned up. Not running around my village.
And then there’s the 3rd concern. All the fencing I have. Sure, it’s low QL (due to me being too lazy to imp), but will my maul respond to it good or shitty in how much damage it does? I wanted to take down those fences anyway and build iron fences instead, because they look a hell of alot cooler (and since Halloween nears…).
Problem with iron fences, is they are half the strength as a low stone wall. Since I’m not on Wild and there hasn’t been any fence-bashing hostiles around (aka Trolls), that won’t be an issue for me.

.
One other note. Involving what’s been going on at New Galway, Hero is playing other games but hasn’t quit Wurm, which is why he hasn’t been online lately. He deeply apologized for not telling me he had his own Teamspeak server. Said that he was so excited that he had his own server.
It kinda is also partly my fault as well, for not being in the server when Hero had the new server. Maybe he thought I didn’t care.

The bros’ visit / Mine entrance new and improved!

Was a slow day. While I’ve been waiting for Spellcast’s two alts to come back on around 9pm EDT, I decided to try to grind my Prospecting skill.
Not often I attempt to grind a skill. But this skill seemed to be easy to raise. And all I had to do was stand infront of one cave wall and keep doing it. And with the 7 second timer each time, I got it raised from 4 to 20.
With 20 in Prospecting, I can now prospect on ore tiles and determine the QL from “very bad” to “utmost”, and the tooltip is handy in knowing the QL in between.
For example, a few of my Lead veins are “Normal” quality, which is between 40-59 QL. The mine has to be mined a few times to see an ore with the capped QL of the ore tile. Like 43.00. The “.00” indicates that this is the cap.

Alittle later I finally took the time to expand my deed to cover all the fences in and around it, to stop decay on them. The new size is now 7×6 (15×13 tiles total, excluding the Perimeter). It costed 1s and 48c. Not bad.
What hurt is it lowered the days of upkeep by 5-10 days or so, so I put in an extra silver into the upkeep to raise it up to 170 days.

Later on I log on one time and briefly see two people in my local, before leaving in it. I walk around trying to track down where they went, and pinpoint them somewhere SE or ESE of my location, since I didn’t see a sailboat going by.
Took me awhile to notice one of them was Fabrys. The same guy I tried to get ahold of a few days ago and was successful.
I talked with him and asked him what he was doing up here in my local. He said he is making sure Darkmalice has everything correctly mapped for his and my settlements. Pretty much what I was doing before.

I was also hearing fighting. He mentioned about spiders and being ganked. While I was trying to find them I saw one about 30 tiles away from Kinsaitos. Alittle too close for comfort. It reminded me of that Mature starving goblin I saw near the secondary path to my settlement. That thing still gives me the creeps.
If something like that shows up out of nowhere, think about if something stronger showed up, like another fucking champ bear.

Alittle later I finally met up with him and his friend, Peterc. We walk around Kinsaitos, and I show them the house I saw a week ago. They said that the area with the tall stone walls used to be ‘Vulcan Outpost’, and it “came after Kinsaitos was ruins”.
They see my homestead and walk around in it, and down the road to the pier. I take this is an opportunity to ask about the fenced in flat area next to the pier. If it was planned as a farm. Fabrys says it was there after they moved out. And it used to be part of the hill. As well as the raised flat area behind it.
Unfortunately that didn’t really answer my question, and they didn’t explain why I found what I think was a secondary road leading up to the top tier.

Soon they left my local. Then I got my alt on and had him start making stew, knowing Spellcast will be on in an hour.
Turned out s/he came on 15 minutes later with both alts, but said that s/he needed a half an hour to 45 minutes to recharge favor and faith.
This gave me plenty of time to imp my spare pickaxe to 24 something QL. Damn these low QL iron lumps I have! I’m almost desperate enough to buy higher QL lumps and only use them for imping.

A half an hour later, my alt finally had the first batch of stew ready for cooking. Can’t really blame him. But I’m thinking of shifting him from pottery bowls to a cauldron.
I managed to fill up one of my small barrels with nearly the remaining stew in my large barrel, and used my temper water (minus the iron pieces in it) as water, and then slowly walked into my mine with both barrels and placed them where I thought I would need them, then went back up and waited for Spellcast to do something.

Ten minutes later, I saw Spellcast’s alts charging their faith up with gems, and ran down the road, into my mine, making sure I had both my pickaxes on me.
I’m already in the mine when they come into the mine and asking if I’m ready to be sealed in, and I’m already one step ahead of them.
Now, I originally thought that they were going to seal the cave entrance behind them and get out the other side. Instead, they seal themselves in with me, telling me it’s the only way this’ll work.
So I drop my spare pickaxe hoping I’ll get help with this since they’re in here, and the main one does.

Meanwhile, outside of the mine, I have my alt first watch the settlement for me, then give him the task of running to New Galway and seeing what the hell is going on down there.
Due to me being able to see ore QL and Hero needing someone that could do it, I thought of hopping in Teamspeak and telling him. Yet, there was no one in it. Like they moved to another server without telling or forgetting to tell me. And Hero is rarely on Wurm anymore.

Time passed on and me/Spellcast knocked down two of the walls he Strongwall’d for me, and I told my alt to head back home instead. The reason being that.. ugh.. rowboats are fucking SLOW!, and .. come on.. Light breeze from the North?

I explained my concerns with Spellcast’s alt of the mine entrance possibly being reverted back to the way before I fucked it up. He said that I’ll never have a problem again, and proved it when the final wall broke and I could see the outside world again.
Not only the floor is fixed, but the water is GONE! 😀 I wanted to hug him for fixing it for me. Then I ran out of the mine telling him I would get his 5s payment.
Then he asked if I had a large cart. I said yes, and he said the cost would be waved IF I carted both of them back to Reborn, and agreed to it.

I kept thanking him for what he did, and began to think “This priest is awesome! I didn’t have to pay a dime because of what I did!” BOY.. was I wrong when I got them to Reborn.
He was all like “Ahaha alright no problem, now give me my 5s. :P” I felt like saying “…Wait, what?! I thought getting you to Reborn would pay for the work you did!!”, but handed over the 5s without saying a word.
Taking them back to Reborn only waved the travel fee, not for the casting of Stonewall five times. I should be fortunate it didn’t cost me more instead of the price of a shaker orb.
And what was more fortunate is I was able to use the 5s I got from my alt for extending his prem. So I didn’t have to pay for another 10s.

I got back home about five minutes after my alt did, and tried to do the ultimate test. Drive my large cart into the mine, and was able to with no problem. Oh happy day indeed. I then got my alt to help take down one of the two remaining Strongwall’d walls, and got it down.

After that I logged him out and began to build a wooden mine door, as I was planning to do after the entrance was fixed. Got that done. Though now it’s going to be quite difficult to find the exit.

Toto.. I don’t think we’re in Fort Willow anymore. / More secrets revealed

My attention has now shifted from the mine, to finding out exactly where I live on the Northwest coast. And I’ve made a shocking discovery today. How shocking? I believe Konlin lied about the village that used to be here. Or maybe he didn’t lie. I dunno.

I decided to hop on my sailboat and take a trip down south after what I was told a few days ago. The guy that wanted to check out what I thought was New BroVegas. Said to sail south and I would see ‘the truth’ of why New BroVegas disbanded.

I made it to Broland. And the cart used by hero’s gang is still on the pier. Checked out their mines, and saw a three-tiled pier going straight south. This must be the road Seris was talking about. I followed it down. Then came to the conclusion that THIS is the North/South road on the map, that supposedly is connected to my settlement.

Continuing to follow it down, it went left (east), and connected to the REAL location of New BroVegas! That means the ruins ESE of me, is NOT New BroVegas! However it could’ve been another bro-town, since the bros seem to love tall stone walls and palisade gates.

This seems to also stir up a disturbing question. Was Ghosted, the only known post-citizen of where I currently live, a bro? This also means, Fort Willow is further north up the coast, around 13y 9x. That little cove. It kinda looks like where I really live.

I went back to my settlement and waited for daybreak. Then I’ll hop on one of my work horses, grab my compass, and see if I can truly find out where I am on the map.
And did just that. I followed the East/West path all the way until I hit a one tile path going North/South. Using my compass, I had solid proof I’m north of where I am on the map. But I didn’t stop there. I followed almost every road I came across, uncovering areas I’ve never seen. More abandoned deeds. Unfinished roads.

Even went up to El Rancho Lago. Saw what looked like to me, the entrance of a canal. Possibly the other side of the canal Hero was talking about, which is five minutes north of my settlement.
Since yesterday, my horses have been disobedient. As in, not wanting to follow me when I lead them. Yet I get no message.
Due to this, I had to ‘tie the rope to a tree’ and then walk into the canal. It was actually vast, and I saw it has indeed collapsed in some places.
I turned around and thought about coming back here with my pickaxe and maybe help to reopen this thing so it can be used again.
About two seconds later as I’m walking for the exit, I hear that heart-jumping “EURG!!” player pain sound again.
Check my Combat tab. Fucking BEAR behind me. OHH FUCK!! I ran as fast as I can and got out of the canal, turned around and saw the bear wasn’t following me anymore and breathed a sigh of relief.
Checked my wounds. Only one light. Thank god. Knew I would survive without needing medical attention.

Hopped back on my horse. Had alittle trouble going but managed, and headed back down the road. This time I wanted to see if I could find the real East/West road that has confused me for weeks of my location.

It took 2.5 RL minutes to head down the road, and I stopped short of a building named ‘Reborn mine inc.’, with a road going East, and West. I made it! Now I had 100% solid proof of my location on the map.
I decided to take the East road. It lead me on one switchback, and a deadly drop on the sides (they should REALLY add guardrails there..) and on the bottom is a small lake. Went around it, then up a few roads. Before I knew it, I arrived at Reborn!
Do you know what this fucking means?! I can get all the peat I’ll ever need from the Valley of The Gods, without having to sail around the north shore to get it! 😀

I also can access their merchants. See if I can find a butchering knife so I won’t have to make my own.
I then turned around and headed back up the side of the mountain to the sand road. And then went West, thinking it’ll take me to NBV (New BroVegas). The road was made quite well against the unforgiving side of the mountain, and I made it to another three-tiled road.
I admire the bros and their handiwork. Really enjoyed going through their forests. Three-tiled highways, sides of the highway fenced in to stop hostiles, and these gatehouses marking specific locations.

Time to go home and begin mapping my area, and I did.
After I finished mapping and sent my findings to Darkmalice’s thread, I happened to check my PMs and saw Fabrys responded to me, stating that I do live where Stillwater Bay used to be, and the ruins I was told that was New BroVegas, is Kinsaitos.
That means since the day I first saw it, I’ve been right all of this time in the name of the former village that was here! That means Konlin IS lying to me.

Later on I was able to confront him. Turns out he wasn’t lying — just misinformed. Says someone long ago told him that Stillwater Bay was south of Fort Willow.

The next day, Fabrys answered my other questions of what Stillwater Bay was like. It turns out, Kinsaitos was their main village. Stillwater Bay was their shipyard. So they owned two settlements.
It now makes sense why Stillwater Bay was small. Apparently they used the top tier as a shipyard, due to the clay.. which means.. UGH. I wasn’t supposed to make a fucking pier.

Speaking of the pier. If I ever do manage to get it dug down, I’m making a new pier from where the farm was going to be. But due to all the clay tiles that are underwater, I’ll never have the pier I always wanted.

Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Toto.. I don’t think we’re in Fort Willow anymore. / More secrets revealed

Issues, Issues Everywhere!

Funny how this has started with the clay tiles, then moved on to that secondary path and not having enough dirt.
Now, the attention has shifted to my only mine, and that smidge of water at the rear of the entrance.

Some time ago, you probably read my “Boats and Bugs” entry with my horses getting stuck in my mine. You’ll find out why I say this later.
Well, this whole attention-shifting has to do with me getting bored and trying to think of different ways to make the place even better-looking.
One being the iconic checkerboard pattern of Cobblestone and Slabs for pavement. Having this would surely make my place look better!

I even killed two birds with one stone by shifting my alt’s skill from Cooking to Mining, so he can finally get his Mind Logic up and be able to drive my sailboat and my bigger boats.
I started using my alt’s rock shards as catapult ammo to knock down the fences of where my farm was going to be, then it shifted to paving.

What shifted it to the mine was, I was busy chipping away at slabs for paving. Had my small cart behind me. Noticed I could only get 10 slabs in. Fuck you, volume.
So I thought “ehh. That means my alt will have more time to gather more rock shards” and went on with it.
That was until I noticed my next cart load could only handle 7 instead of 10.

And then something snapped in my head. I HAD to get my large cart into my mine again to be able to make and cart as many slabs as I needed. But due to the fucking water at the entrance…
So with my alt still mining I left the mine, went into my house, grabbed the shaker orb I bought a long time ago (would had bought two but ran out of money, and I had low RL money last month).

Told my alt to evacuate the mine. He took my cart with the 7 slabs out of the mine as ordered, and I dropped the orb on the cave floor tile that attaches to the entrance, and sealed myself in the mine (as I was told to do). My theory is if I mined up when the wall reaches the ‘will break soon’ stage, I’ll mine up and raise the floor, removing the water from the entrance.

On the other side of the mine, I had my alt mine the tile to help break it faster.
My plan failed…horribly. When I saw ‘the wall will break soon’ and mined up on the 6th time, I got the ‘The cave walls look very unstable. You cannot keep mining here.’ message in my local. I screamed out “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!” when I saw it.
Forced with the fact I would have to deal with the water on the ground, I started mining forward (instead of Down). This lead to ‘unforeseen consequences’ (pardon the pun) and instead of restoring what I did, turned that little sliver of water, into a fucking TILE of water, and altering the floor under me. I fucking made it WORSE!! D:<

I tried to relax and think of my options, and told my alt I'm going to head to Samling and buy two more Shaker Orbs to hopefully fix this mess I created.
So I did. When I was at Samling, Seris (not the moon, a guy) showed up in my alt's local. Seris is Starhero's next door neighbor. He says he and his friend are lost and 'dying'. Turns out he was at the ruins of New BroVegas, but no sign of his friend.
So my alt showed him to my settlement and the ocean, so he can get all the water he needed. Then he mentions passing by our pier and going south, and asked if he could get a ride in my alt's sailboat.

I forgot to turn control over to my alt, which made Seris unable to embark as a Passenger. But he decided to follow the coast south and saw his friend, Mommat. And then they left his local. That was the time I was heading back home.

So, back home I first gave control of the rowboat to him, and then used the two shaker orbs on the two tiles I fucked up, and tried to mine them. First tile actually gave me salt. Six salts. When the wall finally fell, it didn’t restore the floor back to normal. FUCK!!
Neither did the other. So, I have pretty much spent 15s on NOTHING!! It didn’t do SHIT to help me!
Shortly after I’m breaking down and begging kchat for someone to save what’s left of my sanity (or where Spellcast is).

I’m not going to spend another fucking silver on a shaker orb. It’s not the fact they aren’t useful (which they are), but they’re so fucking expensive! 5s per orb. The cost is supposed to stop griefers.

I’ve actually learned something from this experience. Spellcast wouldn’t of been able to even help me due to the way mine entrances are done. And whoever did that mine is an idiot.

The mine can still be fixed, but by a high faith/favor Mag priest. And Spellcast’s alt seems to be the only one. Angry claims Elshar also has a Mag Priest, but before he could ask him if he can cast this spell that can turn a open cave tile into a cave wall, his mother told him to go to bed.
I tried to reach him and his alt through /tell, but he wasn’t on. So I assume he was talking to him via IRC or Teamspeak.

But until further notice, I’m forced to use New BroVegas’ mine until my mine is ‘fixed’ (reverted back before I fucked it up).

I feel like I should be compensated for all the money I wasted on shaker orbs that didn’t do shit to fix my fuck up, but it’s not the GMs faults. It’s both the game’s shitty mining mechanics, and me.
