LOST… in the middle of the Freedom server

Overly-dramatic blog title is overly-dramatic. This has been one busy, and somewhat scary day.
It continued after I mentioned about the Bear Sharks in my previous entry. Though I didn’t have anymore encounters from the Cart Canal to Samling, I had other issues. Issues that involved getting angry pissed at me for something I didn’t really do, and getting lost.. alot.

The first lost encounter occurred when I couldn’t find the Cheesecake Fjord Canal. You have this extremely-large lake; 4x the size of Bearback Lake. You can get disoriented very easily without a map, and a compass. Unfortunately I only had the map part.

This lead up to telling (not asking) angry through Skype that I was lost, and why he wasn’t ingame. He was busy watching the official Live Stream of Minecraft. Not wanting to bother him I did my best to try to find the area on my own.

Alittle later angry responds again like he wants to help me out, and tells me to provide screenshots of reference points. I do my best, but it doesn’t seem to work. I then offer to stream what I’m seeing. He seemed to reluctantly agree. Feeling he was still busy I decided against it, but angry made me stream it anyway.

So I streamed, and angry watches it. Then he says he has a ‘superve idea’. Before I realize, he has logged into my account and took over for me.
This is NOT what I had in mind by him giving me directions. It’s defeating the purpose of ME exploring, and tried to force him out of my account.
After the second try I had control of my account again. Angry responds by saying “have fun getting lost then”. I sarcastically reply with “I will.”, and we haven’t spoken since.
I don’t know what I did to piss him off like that. But I don’t really need that kind of ‘help’ from him.

About ten minutes later I finally find the Canal. Although it wasn’t the canal I was looking for. It’s the unmarked canal south of Black Dog Estate.
After passing it I really knew where I was going after seeing the same mountain as on the map, and easily went through the Cheesecake Fjord Canal.

The other Canal went through smoothly, and then I proceeded North to Samling. As I went up I noticed a row of Merchant stalls. Decided to investigate by getting closer.
Docking my boat and getting off, it looked like a Merchant Row. Both sides of this pier covered in merchant stalls.
I looked through their wares and found some pretty cool things. Mostly 71 QL’ish tools. Even enchanted ones.

I then decided to look around this ‘Bay View’ town (on the map, this is where New Pinevale Port should be) and saw a sailboat with “For Sale” on it. I pondered the thought of owning a sailboat again (since I lost my other one), knowing I could just drag my rowboat while driving it, and asked around in Local how much they want from it.

Someone responded that they wanted 2.5s, which would include the boat, a mooring anchor, and a boat lock (with the key). What a sweet deal I thought to myself, and said “Sold” as I went up this hill to find their token and take out the money.
About ten minutes later, the owner of the boat showed up, and had me meet him at the Boat Parking Lot. Little did I know that the boat I saw, was just a ‘display model’. The real boat was inside this house. I kinda cringed when I saw the type of wood the boat was made out of; cherrywood (I kinda preferred cedar since cedar lasts the longest). Still, I handed over the money and got a key for the boat lock. And then the sailboat was mine.

I was thrilled to be able to drive another sailboat, but knew I couldn’t just leave my rowboat behind and went back for it. I did my best to position myself near the rowboat and right clicked on it. “.. Uhh.. where’s the Drag option?!” Rolf screwed me again! He removed the fucking Drag option!!!

I knew I was fucked and tried to think of my options.
1. Drive sailboat back home, then swim back and grab rowboat.
2. Get Beanie prem, get him to the Freedom server, and have him drive my rowboat.

I had to lean more on #2, since it’s too far to swim. Knowing that if I make Beanie prem, he’ll never be able to go back to GV. So I enlisted the help of Beanietwo. He helped Beanie out by giving him all the replacement noob tools he needed. And now he was going to help me out again. Only problem is he’s a total noob (skill-wise) and I was afraid he needed something to drive a rowboat, and had to ask kchat.
They helped sooth my fears by telling me that Beanietwo can do that.

Satisfied with what they told me, I got him prem, got him to the Freedom server portal (that looks like a penis if you look at it in a way) and teleported to Freedom.

As I was doing that, I was also on my other monitor trying to get DH up the bay to Samling, and finally made it. I picked up my alt and tried to get him to drive the boat, and it worked flawlessly.

After I picked up my Sailboat, I had my alt lead me south. We made it through all the canals, except for the Cave Canal. Spent what I feel to be 2-3 hours searching for it. Little did I know it was right under my nose.
It got so bad I had to ask Anayy, then Vorg for help in finding us. I did my best to follow the Spire, and didn’t understand where I was going wrong. Though I finally made it to Halcyon. Vorg is on his way to meet us as we pull into the boat parking area.

I thought about asking someone here if they sell a compass, and went up this hill while getting my alt to watch Local incase Vorg pops up.
There’s only this one guy, who’s AFK. He finally responded, saying there’s a trader next to the token. I went in and searched. No compass. He then said he could make me a compass, but on his main. So I had to wait.
Vorg, and this guy kept mentioning about this Freedom Market, east of Halcyon. They said that the Cave Canal is near it. It was around this time I finally got a compass (for free too). So the main of the guy lead me up this under construction road to it. We had to climb up the hill most the way, but made it.

What a beautiful sight it was, but I wondered what it was doing all the way up here instead of at the water level.
The main then took me down this road heading south, saying it leads to where the Cave Canal is. Also mentioned that there’s been reports of trolls and goblins. Fortunately we didn’t have to encounter them.
I was finally shown the correct way to the Cave Canal, and got a landmark. A Caravel named “Avalon”.

We passed by this massive ship about five times. But I notified my alt I found the Cave Canal and to get my rowboat over to me. This is when Vorg popped out of the canal and met me.
About 20 minutes later, he got to me, and took me back to my sailboat, and we headed through the cave tunnel together.
What a relief to be out of that mess!!

The rest was pretty much smooth sailing. Following the coast to the right took us to the Crystal Canal. Halfway from it, Vorg says that there’s two fierce bears IN the canal.
I told my alt that you’re going to have to be the bait to get them away from me. As we approached the canal, a freak fog starts to develop. Like it was a warning to stay away.
A good ten minutes later and the fog clears enough to proceed to the entrance of the canal. My alt spots the two bears.
I take a breath and send my alt in, with me following close behind. The first bear tries to pull my alt under, but managed to get away with a few bruises. One Light, and the other Very Light.

The second tries to come after me, but the bear gets confused when my alt passes over it, forcing it to have to think of which one to go after, which gave us time to clear the canal unscathed.

Continuing to follow my alt, we finally made it back to Vorgon. I’ve never have been so happy to see the village again. Alt parked my rowboat, and I parked my new sailboat. Then I logged my alt off, wanting to thank him for helping me out where no other would.

I know angry is going to freak when he sees my new sailboat tomorrow.
Also, I found out where the ‘dragons’ live (by asking kchat), and it’s just as I feared. They live in the settlement named Valley Of the Gods, near the Northwest corner of the server. To the West of it is a mountain that separates me from them.
But maybe there’s a unmarked Cave Canal somewhere in that mountain. Or a way to walk around it.
