This is going to be a pretty “short” review. As in, it won’t be as detailed as the PS4 version was, and more on what I liked and disliked about the PC version of the game (so far).
.
What I liked;
-Console commands. tgm is one hell of a cheat code. God Mode, infinite ammo, no reload.. and even infinite resources for settlements(999 of everything)!
-Boston and Lexington are pretty big cities. Especially Boston. Freakin’ huge (and doesn’t have any ‘fenced off’ areas (aka loading screens)). Quite impressed.
-You’re in charge of making trade routes a thing (when seeing random caravans here and there, they’ll be working for you). I quite like this.
What I didn’t like (legit dislikes here);
-Having to run the game in full screen mode (and the maximum resolution my monitor can handle) instead of Windowed, because Bethesda (and frankly most other devs) are moving away from the old 4:3 aspect ratio. I personally like running in 1024×768, as it’s easier on the eyes (and less abuse on the GPU).
-The clunky, forced hardcoded keybinds (especially when in Workshop Mode). I’m forced to use AutoHotkey to bypass this restriction. And I really doubt Bethesda’s going to fix this. I laugh at people thinking this company cares about their customers.
-Lengthy loading screens with absolutely no mods installed (that are the exact same length as the console versions).
Neutral Things;
-Hearing songs like “Don’t they know… it’s the end of the world?” feel quite morbid for what the player character has gone through.
Final Opinions/Thoughts;
Don’t be a fool like me and spend the $60 on it (even though I half knew what I was getting into). Bethesda clearly made this as a bad PC port, and gave no fucks about it. And even if (and I seriously have my doubts) they didn’t intend to do this, I don’t see them “working hard” on a fix. Especially how it’s been half a year after the release, and it’s still like this. For something so trivial to fix, they sure aren’t seeing it as a high priority.
But if you want your Fallout 4 fix, wait until a sale happens (like after one of the future DLCs gets released) for it to go down to $40.19(lowest I’ve seen it being for the PC on Steam). Or if you have a PS4 or an XBox One, get it on there. Just note that you won’t have access to the console.
