I’ve rarely review non-Steam games. But the space nerd, Scott Manley(famous for his Kerbal Space Program videos), showed off a game that really has my interest.
For many, many years, we on Planet Earth have always wondered one thing… “Is there life on other planets?” And also, the desire to want to find out how. It’s always been our human curiosity to answer that question. SpaceEngine, a completely free game, is our answer. It may not be the real thing, but it’s a close second.
You can explore stars, planets, even zoom up to the surface of the planet and fly around mountains and other stuff, all in realtime! You’ll witness alien sunrises and sunsets, eclipses, planets and moons having their own sunrises and sunsets, and if the planet has an atmosphere, see clouds float by.
It really makes you feel you are nothing but a spec of dust, compared to how fucking big the universe is. We definitely aren’t alone out there.
And that’s just half of it. There’s just so much to explore way, way beyond our own solar system.
