First and foremost, I wanna get to something very serious, IMO anyway. I fear my lock up issue may be coming back from the grave. Or maybe I’m just jumping to conclusions. .. Probably that.<\/p>\n
Since I got a new 2GB stick of RAM from this “G-SKILL” company I never heard of, and defragged my hard drives, some of my games have started to show signs that my lock up may be coming back.
\nThe first thing was playing L4D2. I was playing the first level of Swamp Fever. Nearing the end, both screens flashed, and my colors got fucked up. So did the text.
\nA level load fixed this somehow.<\/p>\n
2nd thing was when I was trying to show a friend my achievements of L4D2. When I tried to bring up my control panel, the window had fucked up colors and shit for a split second. <\/p>\n
And 3rd, since the new stick was installed, when Windows is booting and shows the desktop, I see this split-second flash in the upper part of the desktop, covering the icons.<\/p>\n
I’m not sure if this new stick of RAM is causing issues, or both it and defragging caused the issues. A friend of mine says the RAM could be incompatible with my other stick, and I should buy another stick like the one I got, to replace the old one. And I’ve already done that, as with a new case. My friend says it should fix the lock up, also making upgrading my computer’s hardware easier with the more room.
\nI can only hope it’s just this, and doesn’t get worse. I am thinking if I should take the risk and extract the new RAM stick out until I get those two pieces I mentioned from Newegg. But I don’t want what happened when I tried to install my new stick, to happen again.<\/p>\n
Quick story about the failed install of my new RAM stick….
\nFinally got it last Monday. Tried to install, PSU cables in the way, moved them over, on 2nd try got stick in (RAM sticks only go in one way as a safety measure), computer won’t turn on after install. Took up to shop, find out I unplugged several cables, ended up paying $47.50 for my failed attempt.<\/p>\n

\nIn other news, I went on Facepunch this morning and noticed I had access to the Gold Member’s forum. I thought it was that thing like before where garry gave everyone access to the Gold Forum for a week.
\nUpon investigating further, I noticed something that shocked the hell out of me. I’m a gold member! \ud83d\ude00
\nGarry has made everyone a gold member that is an 07er and back, and a 2,000 post count. I feel honored to be a gold member.
\nI also have access to the Refugee Camp. But no option to have a title. Poo. But I can have a larger-sized avatar, resulting in an animated .gif avatar. Something I wanted when I saw how ‘awesome’ gold members were.<\/p>\n
In ways I feel happy I finally got gold, but more ways I feel garry made a very grave mistake that has possibly killed the way Facepunch works.
\nThe reasons I feel I don’t deserve gold member status is, for one thing, I don’t feel anymore mature than I did before. In reality, gold member and maturity don’t mix. But a movement has begun to change this, called the Gold Member Agreement. To solemnly swear to stop acting like elitist pricks.
\nIn ways I’m glad this movement is starting to take effect. But will this have any change on me? No. Why? I don’t need to. I never was a prick when I was a blue member, and I know how to behave.. at times. But for helping blue members more, that’s a negative. I help as I’ve always helped. As in, if there’s a thread I feel I can help the OP, then I will help.
\nMeaning, gold member status isn’t going to change me from the way that I was as a blue. Infact I still feel like a blue. Though I’m being told that my ways as a blue member are over. But I know better. The word “Gold Member” under my now gold-colored name isn’t going to change my moral values.<\/p>\n
It feels like there’s this big, naked, gay party going on in this building with the words “Welcome new Gold Members” on a banner above the middle of the room, and I’m sitting down in a chair, trying to keep quiet, and covering my eyes with my hand. Every now and then I’m being invited to a group butt rape and I turn it down as calmly as I can.

So.. a second thing. Getting gold seems too damn easy for anyone that has a main and\/or alt made in 2005\/2007, which is approximately 75% of Facepunch’s members. Anyone in this category will be fighting mad, trying to hit their 2,000th post. This will lead to more lag on the server trying to keep up with them, and more bans. Garry should have never thought of this idea. What the hell was he thinking? First the idea of turning all 1MB or higher downloads on garrysmod.org as torrent links, now this. He’s lost his mind I tell ya.<\/p>\n
And a 3rd thing. With more goldies getting gold benefits (with one being a .gif avatar) will cause more stress on the server, causing more lag for everyone. I will not be participating in this. Eversince we could have APNG (animated .png) avatars, the thought of wanting to be a gold member just for an animated avatar has died off.<\/p>\n
You do have an option to de-gold yourself. However it results in the form of.. “suicide”, if you get what I mean. If not, a permaban. And this one will never be undone on his birthday.<\/p>\n
As I finish typing this rediciously-long blog entry and viewing the gold forum, I can’t help that I should feel more happy that I’m finally a gold. Instead of feeling all “meh.. so this is what it’s like being a goldie. I’ll pass”, I should celebrate.
\nBut with my negative attitude being the way it is, that isn’t going to happen, and hope this is only temporary.
\nMaybe it’s time to retire Benie, and make another alt. Quit while I’m ahead, right…<\/p>\n
