<\/p>\nPretty busy morning I had. Had to get to my local Spectrum office, because they fucked up by not giving us enough return boxes (and had to go up there anyway). On the bright side, I’ve started the process of getting my money back for one of the two DP to HDMI adapters I bought yesterday. I’ll be getting it in 2-3 days.<\/p>\n
And after getting my first graphics card driver update (since I got the RX580), I decided it was time to actually check if I was VR ready. …This is the result.

OMG OMG OMG!!! \ud83d\ude00 \ud83d\ude00 YUS!! It. is. a. miracle<\/strong>!! I feel like going on and buying the thing now, but this month wouldn’t be a good time to do it (without hurting of course). Possibly by next month, I’ll buy the WMR headset. I also asked my acquaintance a few more questions (about the headset in general). If it has built-in headphones, and a built-in mic. And if not, if I can use what I currently use. I was also told (not by him, but by someone who has the Vive), that “you will get vertigo in your first week of using VR” (basing this off of himself and people he’s spoken to). My acquaintance told me that he hasn’t had vertigo (but felt nauseous and had eye problems within the first few days). He said simply: ‘your mileage may vary’. Pretty busy morning I had. \nPlus, even with this fantastic news.. I’m still not 100% convinced I’m going to get a decent VR experience (at the required framerate). I have to approach this in a very cautiously optimistic manner (emphasis on the ‘cautiously’ part). It even warns me that “performance may vary depending on your exact setup.”
\nGetting the VR set, will definitely answer if an upgrade of the core PC hardware (CPU\/Motherboard\/RAM) is necessary. This also includes the PSU, and this 3-way switch.<\/p>\n
\nMy thoughts, are “yes”. But I have to confirm them. I hope to find out either later tonight or early tomorrow.
\nEDIT: It seems I was right, in a sense. He told me that the headset has a headphone jack. To me, that’s not going to help much (since sounds come through my computer.. less with the HDMI cable, it’ll act like another audio source).
\nAs for the mic, I’m good with my clip-on.<\/p>\n
\nAs long as I don’t have the urge to run for the toilet and throw up (which I feel is a 50\/50 chance, as my tolerance for motion sickness (especially in a prolonged state) is fairly low).
\nSo maybe the first few days, to use it for like maybe.. 30 minutes (and take a break for my eyes to focus back on reality).
\nI’ll have to very, very slowly get my body used to this new experience. Hopefully it’s nothing like looking down while riding in the family car (which has made me sick before).
\nEasy movements with my head, would help as well (to hopefully mitigate motion sickness).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
