The motherboard definitely showed it didn’t like this decision (by shutting off my computer a second after I tried to turn it back on), but worked the second time.

After setting the settings of the CPU from yesterday (via AMD OverDrive), I tried to run Wurm. For some odd reason, most of my custom settings have reset on me. Spent at least 15 minutes trying to remember how I had everything configured. Plus, Wurm is showing my old..very old accounts from 2010 (and setting profiles). The heck is going on?! I checked to make sure I wasn’t running in the wrong copy of Wurm, and I wasn’t.
Got ingame, and..well, I also figured out why I was getting low FPS. It was because I had forgotten I was limiting it to 60FPS. Upped it to 70 and it took full advantage.
So the FPS was as smooth as butter. This is awesome, I thought, until I saw a hell hound outside my deed.

Now I got walls and guards to protect me. That’s not the problem…what was, was the horrendous laggy animation I was seeing infront of me. Tried to call the guards, but my custom keybind was also gone. Had to re-add that(thankfully I remembered how I did it) and got the guards to assist.
Hellhound’s dead. I walk outside of my deed…the gate opening animation is laggy as well. This also affects doors..and guards. Oh god, the studdering. Yet all of that time, I was still sitting at 70FPS!
I tried to re-adjust a few settings (which only made things worse). Somehow, the framerate isn’t so smooth. Though I think I got rid of the door/gate animation lagging, I’m still seeing it from idle and combat animations (even saw it while I was looking down at my avatar’s body).

I think this issue is because my motherboard might not be utilizing all the RAM correctly. Even though Windows claims I have 16GB, it might be only using half of this while in a game. So as soon as I get done with this, I’ll be taking the sticks back out and try again, in order to prove (or deny) this theory.
If it is the RAM, then I got it. I’ll also try to switch out the RAM in there, with the RAM that I had in the sandwich bag for a few days (in order to..well, verify if it isn’t a case of faulty RAM).
If it’s not the RAM…ohhh boy. Could it be my GPU?! Or, the board not liking my GPU? I..don’t know if it could be the CPU (as I think it’s responsible for the framerate). It might be possible, but I think it’s too early to point fingers right now.
Well, I know for one thing, the additional RAM isn’t causing the issues with Youtube being slow with the video. So it’s possible both issues could be related (and not at the RAM).
But I’ll post back with the results.

.
And the results are IN! After forgetting I need to always underclock the CPU before I play a game (I really need to do that in BIOS), it’s the RAM! Thank goodness it wasn’t the GPU!! Also, while my computer was ‘in surgery’, I swapped out the “good” RAM for the “faulty” RAM (and put the “good” RAM in a bag that my PSU was in). So I just proved two things.
1. The RAM (when in the 4x 4GB configuration) is indeed not being utilized correctly by the motherboard (even though I did research on it, and I still don’t get the reason as to why. Possibly the board is faulty).
2. The RAM that was in a sandwich bag for a few days, was NOT faulty!! HOORAH! 😀

It also proves the issues I’m having with Youtube, isn’t related to Wurm. I actually blame that on the motherboard (as I said before).
So again, I’m stuck with 8GB. I could try to see if I could push for 12GB, but I don’t think that’s a good idea (nor do I think that’s even possible, as most boards only support dual channel).
Yes, this sucks…but it’s least it’s stable, and that’s what matters. Now I know what’s going on, I know how to fix it (..sometime in June).

The fact I now know this, I really don’t see a reason to make anymore of these computer blog posts (unless something major happens). I’m just going to have to deal with this ’till June. And even when that comes, I got to hope I can spare enough to afford the switchback to the old hardware (and that my parents are willing to take me back up there…if not, then I will have to put the computer on a dolly and walk it up there(I even had to do this once, but it was..I think 6 or so years ago)).

I debated if this should go in the Games blog or not, but I decided to keep everything (about the current issues with my computer) in here.
