When I turrrrr-rrrrned on, MY COMPUTEEERRRR THIS AFTerrrr-noon! Oh woe is me… Why do I puuuuut uuuup, with this shit?!”

“Now I’m going to miss the meetuuuuup. I promised I would make it todayyyyy… because you had to FUCKING BEEP!! And the CPU OOOOVVVVer-heatiiiing! Why caaaaan’t YOUUUU..JUST FUCKING WORK IN my faaaavorrr?!? Oh who am I kiddiiiinggg? I should had NEVEEERRRRRR… upgradeeeeeddd!”

I thought I had it, guys. I thought I had a hold on this issue. But no… turned on my computer this afternoon, as normal.. and now my computer is beeping and pretending it’s a sheep again.
I’m now convinced there’s a flaw in this brand new motherboard. I don’t know who caused it, if it’s the guy that installed my hardware (by mistake)… or this CPU still. The CPU, it’s possible it could have a flaw in it (possibly from being in my old board).

I’m almost desperate enough to enlist Tulsi’s help here (like, maybe this Saturday), in removing the board to remove the cooler, to remove the CPU, and then replace it with my old 4350…and see if that fixes the *beep* issue. I KNEW it couldn’t be the RAM, because I never had an issue with it before! And frankly, this is pretty much the SAME type of board (and it supports the type of RAM I use, like my old board)!
So it’s got to be the CPU. Course, I could say this now, and then have the old CPU in there…and there’s still a chance it could beep again.

Reported to the thread. Sometime today, I should get my next course of action. Watch this space.

.
EDIT: Wow, that was fast. And the best thing of all, it ended with a facepalm (of the guy saying “I told you the CPU was leaking heat”). It’s the CPU. I knew it was from the start. I have no business owning it.
So this is the “temp fix”. Not the fix I was looking for, but it seems it’s the only way now.

So…I seems that’s that, guys. There’s really nothing else I can do about this. I’ve done everything that MVP Bluntman(guy on the E:D Discovery Discord) and I have thought of. There’s no point in responding to the thread now (even though I did and made myself look like a dumbass (as usual) by saying Newegg needs to post better info for people who aren’t tech-savvy (such as “this CPU requires watercooling”).
Would be a great title for that one thing I’ve seen on Youtube, of “If X was honest with us”. “If PC Hardware Manufactures were honest with us.” I can just see the episode now. AMD would be talking about the 9590, and it’s on fire.. literally, and they have to use a fire extinguisher on it…and it isn’t stopping the fire because the fucking thing can’t cool itself down! Haha..oh god, make it happen.

Anyway, I’m faced with two options;
1. Deal with the beeping (and the potential risk of permanent damage to the hardware of it continuously shutting itself down during POST), and use my computer for gaming the best I can (until June), when I’m able to get my old hardware back in..and say FUCK YOU to this problem once and for all!!
2. Do the above, by myself (AHAHAHAHA…no).

There’s also another expensive threat (that has to wait ’till June). And that was the fact Bluntman is away seeing his father at the hospital and I’m on my own again (so I ask the Discord server for help again. They asked for my PSU, and I told them thinking “ehh, this shouldn’t be a problem” until I also added “I had it for many years”. Then reality hits me with a pile of bricks (ouch) and tells me that even though it’s a 650W…the output is degrading with time. I don’t even remember when I bought it, but I’m guessing around 2011 (so it isn’t that old, if that’s when I bought it).
Still, I got enough on my plate. I don’t need a potentially failing PSU to be added to it!
Basically, they’re thinking the CPU could be asking too much of my power… no shit, that’s what the thread’s telling me! That’s why I’m getting the beeps!

The conversion continued on, with Dezent chipping in and explaining of an option mentioned to him for me (of lowering the number of cores to 4 or 6). I still remember when I asked the FTB Discord if this is a valid thing to do for Modded Minecraft, and they said “you don’t”; aka “you can’t change the number of cores”. Clearly this was false, as there is (through Windows). Dezent showed me where to go, and I lowered it to 6. If this would fix the beeping (when I leave it off and go to bed), I guess I’ll find out tomorrow.
You know me, though..I have my doubts. I feel that having less cores is actually harder on the CPU (as it can’t spread its workload as evenly).
But I’ve decided to try a stress test with the 6-cored CPU, with 22x Multiplier and 1.4V CPU VID. Will run it for 30 minutes and see if I get that spike I saw yesterday at the 15 minute mark. If the CPU behaves OK in 30 minutes, I’ll play around with the settings some more and see just how much juice I can get out of this thing (while keeping temps below 61*C).

25 minutes later, and the results are in. The fact it stayed below 60*C at 22x Multiplier (where it did the exact opposite yesterday) is quite impressive. However, I noticed something that proved even more that this CPU is quite unpredictable. I decided to let it run past 25 minutes (when it started to cool itself down), and it was a good thing as I would had never had noticed the CPU suddenly spiking to 60, and then going back down to 54*C.
Heh, when you think you have it under control, it says “NOPE” and does this. I knew it didn’t matter how many cores I’m limiting, as the CPU just won’t play nice. The fact I had to underclock it (with only 6 cores) is crazy enough.

So now we go over the second option, of instead of waiting ’till June of doing the work myself (and save some money). If installing hardware was as easy as installing Windows, then..well, for one the installer would be out of a job, but at least it’ll be a lot easier.
Sadly, it’s not like this, and I’m forced to overcome my fear with thermal paste. But that’s a joke of itself (and I definitely proved it infront of Tulsi). Basically, I have this irrational, uncontrollable fear of getting something unfamiliar to me on my fingers, and feeling like I can’t get it off (no matter how much I wash my hands). This is especially true with thermal paste (due to the warnings about not getting it on skin (or eat it). Hell, I’m even scared of picking up a tube of the stuff (thinking it has residue that’ll get on my fingers).
I decided to try to clean the paste off of the stock cooler. Took 6 paper towels and folded them up in a square shape. I made five slow swipes with as much elbow grease as I can get down on it. It only removed a quarter of it, and I think I see paste on the radiator.
Went into the bathroom and vigorously scrubbed my fingers to get off any residue. Checked them afterwords, and the ‘panic alarm’ in my head started ringing as I could’ve sworn I saw gray on my left thumb. Scrub it again and look…and it’s still there. I couldn’t tell if it was paste or a vein. Went back to my computer, freaking out at Tulsi who thought I went insane or something. All and all, it turns out I was worried about nothing as I never got paste on my fingers. Yet I still have a fear that I do.
Can’t really blame him, but I hope you guys can’t really blame me. I’ll probably freak the fuck out if someone purposely put thermal paste on my finger.

Anyway, getting ready to shut down for the night. I’ll be making yet another post tomorrow to post my results.

“You cou-ldn’t stop the beeeeep’ing, because it started beeee’ep’ing again!
