So, the new parts kind of helped with the CPU overheating(aka no more of it being underpowered), but I still have to worry about it overheating. But thanks to one of the two that recommended said parts, we seem to finally have control over it.

Yesterday started with the guy not answering the phone until 5 minutes after he opened. Took the parts and my computer up to him, and he said how he’ll try to get to it today as he has three computers to work on ahead of me. Though he got done with it two hours after I took it in.
Back at the shop, I made sure everything I gave to him came back with me. He’s telling me he barely got the CPU Cooler in, stating that it’s “a centimeter away” from my RAM. So I could see if I ever decide to get a 2x 16GB setup, that I’ll have to remove the cooler. But by then, I think I’m going to do that myself (even re-apply the thermal paste).

I saw the shiny back panel of the new motherboard when I got it home. All of the icons are in red(my favorite color). At the time, I felt this new motherboard and I are going to have a beautiful friendship. And the LEDs (though I can’t really see them due to my computer desk) are pretty nice). Though IMO, they kind of clash with the blue glow of the case fans’ LEDs.

Got the computer hooked up and booted. Saw the new Gigabite POST screen, then it tried to run Windows and BSOD’ed..clearly I got to reinstall Windows (again). Fine with me. Trying to find the C drive was a bit more challenging, showing my D drive as being ‘Disk 0’ (as BIOS treats an SSD as not a traditional boot device). If it wasn’t for remembering my C is the smallest drive, I think I would had wiped out the wrong one.
Now, I don’t know if formatting an SSD is a good idea, but luckily there was a Delete option to clear the old instance of Windows.
So I got Windows up, and I noticed..my external drive isn’t working (as in, the guy forgot to hook up the cables to make the front USB ports work(which I usually have it plugged in)). I tried everything I could think of; installing USB drivers and stuff like that, but it just wouldn’t turn on. Thought of plugging the two cables in the back (which is unusual to me). This turned on the drive, but Windows was listing it as an ‘Unknown Device’.
After much troubleshooting, I discovered (on my own), the cables have to be plugged into the special yellow USB ports (I assume data ports), and that did the trick! Was able to fully access all of my stuff.

Another fun time was after downloading 224 Windows Updates. The computer rebooted twice, then went black screen for a good 10 minutes. Finally I had..somewhat of a picture, of a light blue screen. “Oh fuck” I’m thinking, of if one of the updates may’ve messed up with the driver installs on the disc. Manually turning it off from the back, telling Windows to run normally..wasn’t fixing it. What the FUCK have I done?!
Turns out, this was a major DERP on my part! I had completely forgotten that among the updates, is a driver to make my GPU take over for graphics. And the way I have my monitors setup (with my secondary being the only HDMI monitor for my PS4), Windows assumes my secondary is my primary..and vica versa. Easily corrected the problem in Nvidia’s settings. Thank goodness it was that easy!! I seriously felt I fucked up (especially how the guy said he’s never dealt with this kind of motherboard before). Wow. What a DERP that was! Heh.

With that “issue” out of the way, I started getting Firefox installed (this time I remembered what plugins I used) and others of the sort. Got Skype on to tell Tulsi of what happened, and went to get the stress test software I used before (to see if the new hardware was worth it).
Tried it out with some hesitation. The temp slowly started to go up..into the 70’s. It went up to 78, and then, suddenly……my computer turned itself off. The sudden shock of seeing it turn off, quickly turned to anger and frustration. Tried to turn it back on. Computer goes into BIOS, then freezes and turns itself off again. The anger starts to reach its boiling point as I wait a minute to let the CPU cool down. Turn it on again, this time it stays on.
Told Tulsi the bad news, and…I don’t know what’s up with that kid, but he’s been having an attitude against me. Instead of offering to help, all he says is “rip”. He even said “lmao” one time. I was furious enough with what just happened, and I don’t need this. He kept avoiding my question of why did he laugh at me. Was nearly forced to defriend him….now I know it’s a childish thing to do, but HE was the one being childish here. Plus it seems to be the only thing I can use against him(to make him talk and stop making a bad thing worse)..I swear, he has no sympathy.

…Anyway, I got ahold of one of the two that recommended the parts to me (on Discord), who does have sympathy. He wasn’t surprised it was overheating, telling me the 9590 is “a pretty hot CPU”. But all I could think of is “You TOLD ME this cooler WOULD WORK!! IT’S NOT!! IT’S WORSE THAN IT WAS!!!”
He suggested that I ‘underclock’ the CPU (the same as overclocking, but in reverse) by lowering the power it draws, would make it not heat up as fast. I tried everything he told me to (giving him lots of pictures of my BIOS settings), and guys…I THINK WE GOT IT!!! 😀 Lowering the voltage of the CPU(currently have it set to 1.36V), is definitely showing a difference in temperature!
I’m also running a new (to me) stress tester, called Prime95. It’s open source(which means it’s freeware..the best kind of ware), it takes less space than AIDA64 Extreme, and does some pretty good testing. An hour ago, I just got done running a near 4 hour test, and at its highest temp…the CPU hit 60*C. That, is AMAZING!! 😀
However, testing isn’t done yet (for that was the ‘light’ test. The true test of this software will happen sometime in the afternoon today, where I must run a two hour stability test.
If the temp stays below 64*C for that long(though I’m hoping below 61*C), then I got it and it’s ready for gaming. If it fails, then the voltage will have to be tweaked some more.

There’s a reason why I’m currently running on a limited setup here (haven’t installed everything on my computer). If the CPU continues to fail to maintain a safe temp, then I will be forced to RMA it and get my old 4350 back in(just incase I have to reinstall Windows). But that time, I won’t be coming to the guy. I’ll probably have to ask mister no sympathy to help me with removing the CPU Cooler and stuff like that.
I really hope it doesn’t come to that, and the CPU passes with flying colors. I finally got it at a safe temp (and left it running for nearly four hours at 100% usage). So…PLEASE pass the real test, CPU! I realize that it’s quite rare to use a fan cooler on something so powerful, but I beg you….work with me.

What a day, what a day.
