I keep questioning myself this baffling question. I’m not 100% happy with 7 so far.
\nReasons why is because I have to do shit to get my games to work, and wonder if they’re 64-bit compatible. Plus I wish I could really dig into 7 and set it to be like XP, but I fear that even though I managed to activate it over the phone, that there’s a hidden trial period.<\/p>\n
To tell you the truth, I don’t even know why I upgraded. I guess it was to hopefully fix Fallout 3, yet I feel it was pointless to do so.
\nThere was two other reasons, but reasons that I created and the only way to fix was to reinstall.<\/p>\n
7 still has its little quirks, and surprises. Some more confusing than others. For example, I don’t know how but I finally got Sven Co-op to work for longer than an hour.
\nAlso I noticed ever since I messed around in Windows Explorer, trying to get it to look like XP, I somehow stopped the thing of previewing what’s running in the taskbar. I wonder if it was the thing of trying to get Sven’s window where I wanted it.<\/p>\n
And then there’s Crysis. You would think a game that was released three years ago, that was designed for next-gen hardware, would run flawlessly in 7. It doesn’t run… at all<\/strong>. Everytime I attempt to load it, I get a blank screen of it attempting to show the EA splash screen.. then 7 hiccups and causes the game to crash on me, everytime. Yet, when trying to get Crysis to run in the Steam Overlay, it fails to. When launched, it shows I’m in a Non-Steam game, then shows I’m Online and shows the game.<\/p>\n Anyway, getting away from the games, I still just don’t know. I want to say 7 is just too new. Not really tested. But that’s a lie. It’s been out long enough to be a stable, dependable OS. Except Windows 98 was an unstable piece of shit. \nAgain, somehow, I also got it working. I removed the compatibility mode in Steam, and added -dx9 to the Bin32 version of Crysis.exe, and it showed the splash screen and everything. To “thank” me, I’ve finally unlocked Very High in graphic settings.<\/p>\n
\nTo go back to XP would make me feel like a sissy. Not being able to handle the changes, and knowing eventually I would have to go back, because 7 is Windows’ future, and XP is in the past, much like Windows 98 was to XP.<\/p>\n
