Though angry finally got ahold of me on my new cell phone.

Thanks to his help, he sorta guided me through the install process, using the .txt file I made that I was planning to print out. Fortunately I remembered most of it and knew what to do.

The install didn’t go really smooth. When I first got Windows 7 to boot, it took 2-3 minutes until I finally got a screen. Then close to 5 minutes for the next screen. Other than that, it ran ok.

The only other problem is the CD Key I was given, is unfortunately bad. Now that I got 7, it gave me a chance to use it. I tried, and it showed that it couldn’t be read.
Shockingly, I actually had internet access, and I never used my Motherboard Driver CD. I used it to PM the guy that sent me the ISO and CD Key. He has yet to reply.
I fear he may not want to help me, since he’s tired of the abusive PMs he got of people demanding to get new keys and/or respond to them. If he isn’t, I’ll be forced to either buy a new key or reinstall Windows XP until I can afford to get a new key.
Someone may had already used the key, or the key was bad in the first place.

With that out of the way, let’s talk about what’s new in Windows. For the first thing, I hate the fact Quick Launch is gone. But what I dislike the most is the fact they combined Windows Explorer and My Computer into one program.
No more simple, easy navigation as I had in both Windows XP and 98. Now you have to choose a drive to view its contents and hope you can find what you’re looking for. This is a dick move by Microsoft.

I’m also noticing something ever since I installed Firefox. A bit of of a slow down when scrolling. Didn’t see that with XP.

Then there’s the cool stuff. The way windows pop up is amazing. They don’t just instantly appear like XP. They now use transparency and zoom. This affect continues even as Windows restarts.

Another new feature of Windows 7, which is also with Vista, is Microsoft Gadgets that can be placed on your desktop. Clock, Calendar, CPU Usage meter, Weather.. all sorts of goodies. Yes, Google Gadgets has this and more, but.. these are Windows gadgets, and no real install is required. Not to mention it doesn’t put a strain on your resources or consume hard drive space.

I have 30 days to try this out, and this is the perfect way to know if ‘spending’ $120 was worth it. If my games start fucking up, then I’m going back to XP.

Due to the fact my parents didn’t leave the house all day today, I never had a chance to get my .txt file print out.
