I have five gaming news stories to discuss, with all of them happening while I was helping with those two community events.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Java discontinuing (for users) in 2020, the future of Wurm?<\/strong><br \/>\nFirst and foremost, I updated Java while I was at the NEXALong, and noticed a message about future releases.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.java.com\/en\/download\/release_notice.jsp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This page<\/a> is what I&#8217;ll be referencing. If you&#8217;re a user, Java will no longer be distributed to you by 2020. And this begs the question&#8230; what&#8217;s going to happen to Wurm (or even Minecraft)? Because it states, to reconsider using something else by then. And since the original code made by Notch and Rolf was done in Java, it would be a very, very hard thing to redo the code for another engine.<br \/>\nWill this be the death of Wurm? Only time will tell. Though maybe I&#8217;m not reading the page right, and Wurm would be fine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Questionable E:D 4.0 changes<\/strong><br \/>\nIn other news, there was <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AMBRSurreth\/status\/1063209652635226113\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a tweet posted<\/a> on November 15th (Day 4 of the LunaLong) by an <em>Ambassador Surreth<\/em>, featuring a forum post by FDev of an &#8216;exciting&#8217; change coming to the upcoming 4.0 (<em>Elite Dangerous Beyond &#8211; Chapter Four<\/em>) release, which is currently in open beta for all CMDRs to check out.<br \/>\nThis feature is known as &#8216;Thargoid Incursion States&#8217;. Where some (not all) systems will go under attack by Thargoids, and it&#8217;s up to CMDRs to thwart off their attack. But if they fail, a BGS will happen where the system will become an &#8216;incursion state&#8217;. This will damage all stations in that system, and cause stronger Thargoid ships to show up.<br \/>\nWhile never actually stating that these &#8216;incursion states&#8217; (and these &#8216;Thargoid Conflict Sites&#8217;) would be optional or not, post #7 from a &#8216;sensai25&#8217; said <em>&#8220;At last Thargoids will be in the game and everyone will have to face them.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\nNever once did I remember that nearly everything in E:D <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">is optional<\/span>. So there&#8217;s no way they&#8217;ll actually force people who aren&#8217;t even battle-ready (and more made for exploration).<br \/>\nThe only thing that worries me is this thing about &#8220;an incursion site will stay active infinitely until dealt with&#8221;.<br \/>\nWill this mark the end of the bubble, making Sol the only safe zone?<\/p>\n<p><strong>VRChat switching Unity versions, good or bad?<\/strong><br \/>\nPosted a day after the debatable E:D news (November 16th), the VRChat devs have announced <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VRChatNet\/status\/1063630841346048000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a tweet<\/a>, that they will be moving to &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/unity3d.com\/unity\/qa\/lts-releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unity 2017.4.15f1 RTS<\/a>&#8216; &#8220;within the next couple of weeks&#8221; prior to the next patch of the game.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@vrchat\/vrchat-upgrade-to-unity-2017-4-90727844522a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read here<\/a> to see why they decided to go for this instead of the 2018 releases, and especially if you&#8217;re a creator.. how the transition could be painless.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m personally looking forward to new fixes to the code (such as memory leak fixes in some worlds).<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8216;Best Boi 2.0&#8217; released, and why it&#8217;s important<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you&#8217;ve been playing VRChat for a good amount of time, you&#8217;ve probably seen a Best Boi or two. But a newer version had begun to make itself known since last month. Based off of the Dutchie model, and designed by.. shockingly two people I didn&#8217;t expect to work together (but I&#8217;m glad they did). The smug bastard, and the winner of the Best Boi design show (Kev Dee). I mentioned this before, that I would be looking forward to doing a V2 of BenieTheDragon Boi.<br \/>\n&#8211;<br \/>\nAnd now, it&#8217;s available! &#8230;Unfortunately, the file is only available on a select few Discord servers. But if it&#8217;s ever made public (such as VRCMods), I will link it here.<br \/>\nI thankfully have managed to grab a copy, and plan to recreate Red Boi and BenieTheDragon Boi.<br \/>\n&#8212;<br \/>\nAlso, there&#8217;s confirmed reports the Best Boi Phoenix server (and Discord) will be shutting down soon. Reasoning is Charms losing interest in the Best Boi&#8217;s. This leaves very little of what communities were created from the closing of the official Best Boi community.<br \/>\nBut with the 2.0 model released, you can keep the Best Boi&#8217;s alive in your heart. Never let it die.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ASTRONEER 1.0 release coming February 2019, devs say<\/strong><br \/>\nFinal news of this blog post. SES devs have released two videos (linked below);<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sO2cIlXcHZU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Astroneer &#8211; 1.0 Release Date Announcement<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KjgPP4deMoo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SES Q&amp;A: Repacking, Release Date &amp; Price Increase<\/a><br \/>\nI would advise to watch the first video, then the Q&amp;A. The update seems quite interesting, especially being able to repack your base to move somewhere else.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s all the news that had happened while was in Wurm. Quite a lot, I know.
