First thing they warn, is the legacy launcher is no longer supported. Personally, I’m fine with this. I still like the new launcher.

Now, let’s go over the features. And the first is the ‘Wagoner’, an NPC that uses the highway system (if it uses the new catseye highway protection system) to deliver goods inter-server(the same server). A player can either hire a public wagoner(would assume the price is set by the seller), or purchase a wagoner contract for 15s from a trader.
To learn more, you can click this link to go to the Wurmpedia article.

Another feature, though this one seems to be trying to get players away from their forges and go exploring, is ‘Archeology and Restoration’. Basically, you can now go around on tiles with a trowel and dig for items. Going to an old disbanded deed (no idea what they classify as ‘old’) has a chance to yield a unique item. Items need to be identified with either using a chisel or a metal brush. Each time the item is identified, it loses some weight. Yet the trick is, the correct tool must be used in order to increase how much weight is lost. After that, the item becomes a ‘fragment’ and can be combined with others like it to complete the item.
This entire thing feels like if the Archeology skill from WoW, and the archeological minigame of Starbound, had a baby (as this would be it).

There’s been a few changes to paying for Prem, but it mainly affects first time players. Not only will they get 3s (down from 5s), but they’ll no longer get the referral. I assume this is to cut down on people who make lots of alts (and use their referrals to give to the main). Yet if it’s making the company money, why are they bitching? Something else is going on with this (or I’m reading it wrong).
Also, there’s a second option to purchase prem through the token; a half a month of prem(15 days) for only 5s. This feels quite reasonable.

A useful feature is the ability to move bulk goods from one container to the other (such as moving Dirt from a large crate to a BSB, and vice versa). You’ll still see the “how many do you want to grab” popup. But this is the only time you’ll see it, as the items are automatically moved to the other container every second.
How many are moved per second is based on your Body Strength, and the weight of the items (IE, if you can carry 7 Dirt in your inventory, it will move 7 Dirt every second). You can also queue other items to be moved (instead of having to wait for that one item).
Finally, some semi-automation in Wurm! 😀

And the final feature, they made Meditation a little bit less of a grind. The cooldown has been lowered(no info as to what), and the cap has been reduced by 6 days (18 days instead of nearly a month(24 days) when reaching Level 7 and up).
This is some great news, but I don’t think it’s going to entice me to level up in order to be able to enchant the grass of the horse pens. Although… I can just hear the sound of angered purists over the hill, shouting “You made it TOO EASY! This game is FOR CASUALS NOW!! *insert war stories of surviving trolls and working their ass off, and more bitching that casuals have it easy*”
All I can say is, Code Club AB, well done on growing a pair. 🙂

.
But as with most big updates, this one never got tested and went through several hotfixes, eventually getting another pointless (to myself) 10 hours Sleep Bonus.
This is getting quite ridiculous for it happening twice in one year. Why even have test servers (for people to beta test) when the update falls apart upon going live? And personally, I feel 5 additional hours of Sleep Bonus is a slap in the face.
Sure, having additional sleep bonus does help to get faster skills, but getting a month of prem for everyone would attract new people to the game (just saying). Not having to pay for prem after an incident like this, IMO, is worth more than 5 more hours of sleep bonus.
There’s also a possible reason why they don’t give free prem to all. From ‘it’s impossible to do it as their current systems wouldn’t be able to support it’ to ‘everyone would get prem, even people that never did.’
Trying not to be Negative Nancy here, I’m guessing the former (as the latter feels like “we can’t give people prem that never had it before, because giving free sleep bonus is a lot cheaper. If we would to give free prem, it would be a waste of money”).
To add onto that, giving prem to people that never had it before, might be confusing (not to mention, new people aren’t affected by the downtime).

“Be happy you’re getting something” you might say. Honestly I don’t care for SB as much as I did before (as I have no point in grinding). And stuff it with the “don’t use it if you don’t like it” saying. That solves nothing.

So much for trying not to be Negative Nancy. 😛

Wurm has been updated to version 6.0.
