I thought he just had something to do, so I set sail back to the area. Halfway after leaving, I had forgotten to grab my gear and had to go back and get it, then headed off again.
Emerged out of the south canal, and I saw a boat in the canal with Pryath digging away at the sides. I stopped and asked what they were doing, and the person said of working on the canal. So I bid them adieu and headed on to the area. …My heart sunk into my chest when I noticed both boats (his and his alt’s), were gone. Oh NO!! FUCK!! ..I’m the worst friend ever, I thought. I couldn’t talk in Local, because Pryath was in it and had to use PMs to myself.
I TOLD him I would come back!! Fuck. I then decided to tell Pryath what happened in hopes they would support me (or even help pay the 13.5s I need for this place). All they said was the same thing Saint said of considering making the deed smaller.
So, seeing a lot of things I still owned, I felt there’s no point of staying here anymore, so just go home. Tamed the horse, got my horse gear back. Got my tent back. After I was about to go load up my wagon, a hell hound tried to gank me. Quickly geared up and sunk my axe into its burning head. Had to cotton up once, since I didn’t gear up fast enough and it gave me a few nasty wounds. But all good. Grabbed what crates I could, loaded them up into the wagon, unhitched the horses (and let them freely roam..since I don’t need them anymore) and loaded up the wagon….and sailed back home.

Now, let me make this perfectly clear to you guys and gals. I’m not saying that I’m never going to deed here. If I can’t find anything on Release, the spot is still open for me (as Pryath reminded me). I just can’t afford it right now. Not until maybe next month when I get more RL money. Again, it’s still on the table, and available.
—-
Personally, I feel I still need to go here one of these days, and really get in there to do this planning job myself. I still need it fully done. Even if I ‘went halfsies’ with him (bought some silver and he gives me the rest for the deed), I still won’t know if I really WANT the place. Yes, it’ll give me two months after founding it to plan it out in Deedplanner, but since you can’t get your money back, how am I going to pay back his half if I can’t make something work?
As for making it smaller, I feel it needs to be its full size to see how it would look. If I feel I can’t really work with the size, then I will definitely consider making it smaller. Again…I NEED that mapping job done (fully)!

Headed home. What happened with me and Saintdouglas, I doubt was because he felt I left him. It’s obvious (to me) he left because he felt that I was done with this area, and why bother staying there anymore(again, even though I told him I would come back).

….
Came back on, preparing to leave to explore Release on my own (and then I saw him in my friends list). I reminded him of telling him I would be back, and he tells me the reason why he left is he tried to make 100 forges and failed to get a rare, got bored and went home. There was also another reason that I did forget to mention..this guy has had SEVERAL active deeds, yet sells them for profit. I don’t see how he’s even making a profit, to be honest.
He just had another deed sell for 7s, and he’s building a new deed (which is why he can’t come up here and visit my place). Then he suggests that I come visit him instead and see the deed he just sold. Then I ask him “if I visit your place, do you promise to visit mine?”, he said sure, and so this is something I definitely have no regrets over.
He told me where it was, I marked it on the world map, and set sail. And as soon as I crossed the server border from Indy to Rel, fog is forming! GREAT..just great. I’m a bit annoyed at Saint for not alerting me of this navigation hazard(before I crossed over). He acts like it’s no big deal, stating he “uses a compass more” during fog. A compass isn’t going to tell you jack SHIT when all you see is gray!!
While this is going on, another boat is approaching me from the SW and stops short of me, and the captain of the boat says hi and asking me where I’m going (in a friendly way). So I told them. The person claims they just came from there, and I asked if they knew Saintdouglas. Person says no, that they’re also new to the server. Wow, someone else exploring by boat (that they say they’re hunting instead)? Someone pinch me, I’m NOT alone in this!
The fog started to clear and I pointed my Knarr’s nose NE, following the world map. Asked Saint a few times, using some named landmarks (bridges, structures, etc) if I’m going the right way. He says yes, and “look for a Caravel”. I’m thinking “oh..great. There’s probably Caravels all over the shoreline!” Pass between twin islands, still heading of where I think he’s at. A lone Caravel appears ahead and to the right of me. I’m thinking it’s probably another parked boat…until I see it move towards me. It was Saint, here to escort me to his place.
I follow him, jokingly saying “you actually got it out of the museum?”(hinting at people who buy/build these big ass ships, and never use them afterwards(aka treat them as decoration in a museum)). Though he’s driving a special ship, but I would not know how special it was until much later (hint: it was made by a very popular person).
Arrived at the deed. Was the same size as Oceanside Retreat. No animal pens, but it did have a really nice lighthouse. Also a brick building named “She” (it’s a joke from the song ‘Brick House’). I even asked as a joke “was she built like an Amazon as well?” Told me it’s pretty thick brick made out of..Pottery? Yes, you can have walls made out of Playdough. That’s just awesome.

He gave me a small tour of the surrounding area, that ended pretty quick and said “let’s take the boat as it’ll be quicker”. Ok, let me go get my Knarr and…wait. You want me..to RIDE in your Caravel?! Ohh..my. Best day EVER!! 😀
And dude, it was just like the Cog (the view of the passenger). The first passenger gets the crows nest..BEST FUCKING VIEW EVER!!! Plus he tells me this thing does NOT shit itself in low wind (or when the wind is in its face)! Wow.. if we ever get horses being able to go cross-server (and I’m still alive to see it), I am getting one of these things (if they actually go by my suggestion of having big boats being able to carry livestock cross server).
I’m taking pictures like a madman, being up here. Even the fog that kept on forming, dissipating and forming right after, I didn’t mind. I had the best seat in the house.
We go under a bridge, and I feel like I had to physically duck of how low it looked! I haven’t experienced this view since I came back in 2015 (before bridges and all of that).
Parked in a spot, I hopped off and followed him to another place that used to be his (before moving out). Wow, he owns (well used to own) a LOT of deeds on this server! He’s also telling me how we’re passing by a few of his allies, and gave me a map that was filled with markers of where all of the alliance members are. Not even the alliance I was in, had that many members.

Checked out this castle. I started being all drama again, saying “I wish I could think of something like this, and have an idea how the interior would look”. Also sort of explained my ‘issue’ with being a huge fan of dragons (aka Champagnedragon being better than me in so many ways). He says “it happens”, that there will always be someone more experienced than you. I said how it ‘brings shame to me’. Thank goodness I didn’t go as far as to say..”I like to RP as one.” It was feeling awkward already.
Passing that humiliating thing, he said to head to the top to have a killer view. I did, and..it wasn’t bad. I’ve seen better from climbing mountains (via roads leading up to them).
He told me that the upkeep to the place was 7.5s. DAMN, that’s a lot! I asked him how in the hell was he able to afford the monthly payments, and he claims…he got it from four days of foraging/botanizing. Ugh. Asked “does that mean 4 days nonstop?”, and he said no and only did it a couple of hours. He claims it’s quite profitable…mmmm.
We headed back to the old deed, he allowed me to barrow one of his horses, and said he would give me a tour of the server. Sure, I’d love a tour from someone that knows these roads! Though this mainly turned into a tour of all of the deeds he (used to) own.
We were halfway to the spawn deed, and I told him I had to go soon (aka dinner). Raced to get to Sloping Sands (the name of the deed). When we arrived, I asked him if he would stay here, and he said no “but would pick me up”. Felt that was good, and left.

Came back, and he was offline — a minute ago after I came on! Just missed him! Since he promised he was going to pick me up, I stayed there. Decided to explore the surrounding area while I waited. They have a small market there with about 10 stalls. There was also a trader dedicated to selling high QL tools and stuff to new people. Now that’s pretty awesome, how people are coming together and making these things for anyone that wants to check out Release (after leaving Golden Valley). You know, as I type this, I wonder if I should go back there and get a few tools for Tulsi (to help him out). The tools he’s currently using back home, are decaying in that cart he made (from months of not being used, or not being in a proper container..whichever).
Looking towards the sandy hills to the North, reminded me of Roadside back in JK-H. All there was missing, was fences placed every 20 or so tiles up, with a sign saying “the man’s way up”. It even had a pretty awesome view up there, with one I felt should’ve been on one of those ‘wish you were here…’ postcards.
And Release as a whole? Wow.. I’m getting strong vibes from Deliverance here (that’s a REALLY good thing). The angled, sloping roads going through forests. The views…GORGEOUS!!
The minutes turned to a half an hour, and I felt I better get B2 to go pick me up now (thinking Saint may’ve forgotten about me by accident). The bad thing is, the Wurm Forum is down at the time for a security upgrade (and I had no way to get the Release Community Map to know where the canals are). Tried an idea to get a cached version of where the link would be, and it WORKED! Got the map in my hands, so now I’m ready for B2 to pick me up!
However, his boat being slow was actually a really, really good thing, as Saint came on as B2 was preparing to head into the bay and up to me. Had him go back home (to avoid confrontation with Saint), got Saint’s horse again, and we continued the trip. But all it was, was getting back to the old deed.
As we’re heading back to the old place, I asked him “so how did you get your hands on a Caravel?” He says “I paid someone 12s for it”. Ehh, whatever…and then he says “Enki owned it.” …NO WAY, I’m thinking!! And when we got back and I Examined it, it was indeed made by him. I’m freaking out, saying that he’s famous for owning something that was made by the head GM.
He said it’s nothing, then goes AFK for 10 minutes. Next thing I know, him and his alt are now getting in the Caravel and Saint telling me to hop on. Another adventure? I’m up for it. This time I had a view of being at the front of the ship. The journey stopped with him going through several boats. He hopped out and so did I. Looking at the boats, they were his and his alt’s. He tells me this is where he’s moved to now, and I followed him up a few roads and to a spot out in the middle of nowhere. Sand for as far as the eye can see, and a beautiful 360* view in all directions. You can see Solrise AND Solset here!
He started making more food, reminding me of my “I call BS” statement I told you all yesterday. I asked him “if you claim you’re like me and try to get others to do the work for you, then why are you cooking?” He claims “yeah it’s a grind but it’s ‘not that bad'”.. Not that bad? If it was “not that bad” I would not be bitching about making a casserole when I was forced to cook (in the past)! I told him how I usually ask people for meals. He also says “it’s handy to have”.
I explain the reason why I’ve never bothered cooking, and that’s the decay of meals. He says I can put a Larder in my boat. Ehh, fine. But that’s not going to help me when I’m on a horse!
He says to use the picnic basket we got last year for Wurm Christmas to store one meal in (stating it works just like the Larder in keeping it from decaying). ONE MEAL?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! That’s not going to hold me when I’m exploring for a week+!! “Ok, fine” I think, “but what if I bring both baskets(the one my alt got)? Would that weigh me down too much?” He acts like it shouldn’t, then gives me some food shaped like sausages. Whatever, as long as it gets my fat layers back.

I then ask him about him making “a ton of forges until getting one rare” (if he’s ‘like me’). He states he tried to make 100 forges and failed to get a rare one, also stating it’s the initial unfinished item of the forge that rolls the RNG dice. In order words, stating that I would never have to worry of completing the item if I try to get a rare object. Ask him “how in the hell did you store 100 forges!?” and he says “in the ocean”. Bravo, friend. *golfclap*
Sol rises again, and he’s building part of a structure. I ask him “would you know how long when you feel you’ve established your deed, that you’ll visit mine?” (saying “I’m not trying to rush you”). He says as soon as he gets done with this section, he’ll come with me. Thought that was great, and I waited patiently. I wanted to help him (the same way he would help me), but I had no trowel on me.

He suggests I go explore the server while he works, using his horse. Thought sure, and pull up the map..only to realize I had no idea where the hell I was. I tried tracing the map to what I was seeing, but nothing was matching it. Decided to follow the roads, getting more and more lost (and pissed off in the process). Ok. Pristine. Here I was pissed off you weren’t showing canals and roads? At least you had a map dump. This one? There is NO map dump! I found myself on the east coast, feeling completely lost. Thankfully I was able to backtrack my steps to Saint’s place again, and told him more drama of how I need to see (and know) where I’m going at all times.
Continued to wait for him, still annoyed the map isn’t updated enough to be reliable to me. Suddenly, he says “it’s late, I’m going to head to bed”…and drops out before I could say “WAIT.. I have no idea where I AM!!” I stand there, 100% pissed off, feeling like “well, now HE’S the ‘bad friend’ now!” STILL shocked he would just leave me alone with no idea how to get back to my boat and get home.
..B2 to the rescue!

Got him on and going, and then went on foot back to where I had gotten lost. He also got lost (and confused), appearing on the West side of Release (with me on the East side). Was able to fix it with a few server hops, he picked me up, got me to my boat, and we headed home. Unfortunately, the wind had shifted in a very unfavorable direction (due Southwest…right in the direction to get back home). Sol went down by the time I made it back to my boat, and we traveled in the darkness. Went up to Cele to use its coast to go due West (to get some speed and distance). B2 needed water badly, and we stopped at the shore. Someone spotted us and asked if we were new. I simply explained I was trying to get back home, but having to deal with the wind going in the wrong direction.
I absolutely HATE when the wind chooses a semi-cardinal direction (NE/NW/SE/SW), because it slows down both directions. However, we managed to circumvent the wind (by using Cele as a dimensional slingshot) and got home.
I’m going to assume Saint felt (after he logged off) “he’ll be fine there if he just logs off”. But when something like that happens, I panic like a scared animal. He’s going to be surprised to see me gone (and even more surprised how I was able to leave without using his horse).

Instead of writing this blog post, I decided to look like what I always do in Freedom chat (an idiot) after someone asked “what are you guys working on?” I then decided to try the whole forage/botanize thing for myself, in hopes I would get lucky. No such luck. And my luck got even worse when a troll appeared out of nowhere and prepared to slam its club into my unprotected skull (I was wearing my casual gear at the time).
The troll started killing my guards one by one. I got sick of its games and sunk my axe into its skull. STOP. killing. my. tower guards you FUCK!! That’s MY job (to try to un-follow Vynora)!
After that, I left to write this. Who knows what’s going to happen tomorrow. I hope he won’t be angered I left, but I don’t think he’ll mind too much. As for me trying to get him to visit my place, I decided to drop it (after what I did). I’ll let him do the talking. Hell, I might just go back to Cele and do the mapping project while he’s busy with his deed in Release. I’m also debating if it’s worth exploring that server now (with no updated road map). Though if I do, I would do it without his help.
I don’t want to bother him. Not anymore. Let him work, then maybe he’ll have more time for me. From what I saw at that place, he’s got a lot of work ahead of him (and I wish him good luck and fun).

Got on today, and was about to talk to him (he had friended me yesterday) and noticed he was offline since an hour ago.
