Square Enix is pulling financial support from IO-Interactive (who make the popular video game series <em>Hitman<\/em>. I never played the series (even though it does look fun and I would like to), but I know several Youtubers that do.<br \/>\nBy pulling the support, now the company will likely face bankruptcy if they don&#8217;t find another publisher. The reason for the departure, Square Enix stated in a contradicting way that they did it &#8220;to maximise player satisfaction&#8221;. Um.. last time I looked, pulling funding from a company that made such a great series, wouldn&#8217;t be &#8220;maximizing player satisfaction&#8221;. To me, that would be the exact opposite.<\/p>\n<p>However, reading <a href=\"http:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2017\/05\/11\/hitman-developer-io-interactive-dumped-by-square-enix-6629832\/?ito=twitter\" target=\"_blank\">this article<\/a>, it seems the reason for the financial cutoff <em>wasn&#8217;t<\/em> because of the Hitman series, but from IO-Interactive&#8217;s other games. Of course, this could be the writer&#8217;s guess as this came out of the blue on Twitter last night (as I was backing up my drive).<\/p>\n<p>Hate to see them go, but it seems (well at least I hope) SE is doing the right thing here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A bit of troubling gaming news to share today.
