Early in the year, I thought of going on a grand adventure to all of the islands of the Freedom server. Yet I never got around to it, as my desire to play Wurm has dropped off nearly completely. I still come on to make sure my deed is well-funded so I won’t make the mistake I made back in 2011 and lose it.
\nI’m still planning on making the journey. I even have a thing wrote down of where to go and what angle to reach the next island. Not to mention I have an idea on redesigning my house.<\/p>\n
Since I’m bored (the reason I’ve been wanting to play WoW again), I opened up the WurmClock and was checking the seasons. It’s currently fall ingame, and it seems it’ll be Spring again on October 5th.
\nAnd then a thought came into my head, of why the seasons are like they are instead of the way Earth has its. And what I believe is this ELW (aka ‘Wurm”) is in close orbit around an M-type star. This explains why its sun looks so close (yet can survive being close as an M-type is a cooler star). Yet Wurm’s unique atmosphere makes it look like a G-type star.

\nIt also doesn’t have a standard orbit around its star, which explains why its Summer months are longer than its other seasons. As for the fact it has three moons(with one being planet-sized) in very close orbit of the planet, it’s possible that Wurm’s weather is just so fucked up(yet not to the point of having dangerous weather). Which seems to relate why the wind suddenly dies down and blows in another direction.<\/p>\n
As to why the wind direction, the sun and moon position remains the same on every island.. well, that isn’t something science can answer. But the rest of it, I just found how the seasons move, really interesting and wanted to use science to help figure out what’s going on.
\nNot to mention, the planet ‘Wurm’ and the new “Haven” planet (rumored to be where Golden Valley is) are the only two planets in this system.<\/p>\n
