It was recently ported over from PC/Steam. It’s one of the two free games for the PS4 on Playstation Plus, for September 2015. It’s also a game that I’ve seen quite a lot of reviews on, but it never really interested me.
Because it’s mainly on how short of a main quest this game has (for what I’ve heard). But there’s also something I actually saw as proof, and that’s Ubisoft’s greedy hands all over it. They didn’t just publish this game, they made it. And apparently that gives them permission to get you to link your forced uPlay account with this game. Ahahaha.. no. 😛

Anyway, this game is about a red robot named BUD(Botanical Utility Droid), sent to a strange planet to grow what is known as a “Star Plant”. You must grow this plant to a total of 2,000 meters(or 1.24 miles).
Upon arriving on the planet, your Internal Power is low from the trip. You see a crystal in the distance, with a disembodied thing named ‘M.O.M” telling you to pick it up.
Once you do, it shows “1% Crystal”. At 10, 20, 60, 80, and 100 crystals, you’ll get a powerup. And these crystals are everywhere on this planet. Good luck finding them, as some are probably in very hard to reach areas.

You can also pick up (and/or pull) other things, like plants, rocks, animals, and flowers. Pushing on the other hand is quite hard to do. You can pull things by holding down your L and R keys, and pull back on your left stick (or down on your D-Pad).
Climbing, while not an original mechanic, is done pretty well. And the higher you go, you really need to master it. The game tells you how to climb, though I question why both the L1/R1 AND L2/R2 buttons are set to do so. Of course, it’s made by Ubisoft. So I shouldn’t be surprised.

A tiny bit later, you’ll encounter the Fall Flower. These seem to grow on hills (go figure). This works similar to a parachute, but it has a limited use which is shown by the number of pedals on the flower. You can either see how many are left visually, or the new blue bag showing the number of pedals left on BUDs back.

So now I move on to the Star Plant itself. It has these unique vines sticking out of them. These are called ‘Star Shoots’. In a way, and you’ll know it when you see it, they… *clears throat* look like the…. male reproductive organ. Especially when they.. erm.. ‘erect’ when used. *cough*

.
Well.. with that visual thought hopefully out of our memories, let’s get to my review;

Good:
-Straightforward tutorial system.
-Friendly atmosphere
-Sheep with humorous, freaked out eyeballs
-Challenging puzzles
-You get to explore fully
-No death system. You simply respawn, and can so infinite times.

Bad:
-Made by Ubisoft (yes, it was going to be listed here. You all knew it)
-Why are both sets of L and R buttons set to grab and climb?

Final Verdict: If you don’t mind the stench of Ubisoft, and looking for a fun game (when everything else is boring to you), pick this game up. It’s worth a playthough.

Title: Grow Home Developer: Ubisoft Reflections Publisher: Ubisoft Release Date(PS4): September 1st, 2015 Game Engine: Unity Number of Players: Single Genre: 3rd Person Exploration/Puzzle Youtube Game Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1OylnSpEuw So this is Grow Home.
