You can however, complete the main quest line. Which I did last night.

From what I’ve seen still… I don’t know. In a way I feel this, emptiness. Unanswered questions. For starters, you defeated Aldrin, or you think you did. Everyone thinks you did. Does this mean dragons are now your allies? Or does this change nothing? For one thing, I definitely have a new respect for dovas (“dragons” in Draconic).

What I’m probably going to do now is get the rest of the shouts, and learn how to upgrade them. There’s a whole lot more Thu’ums (“Shouts” in Draconic) I haven’t gotten yet.

So, let’s just talk what happened. I’ll use a short version since this is all discussed in the wiki. Again, SPOILERS…
Click the “Read More >>” button to view the entire blog post, plus the spoilers.

.
.
(Spoilers here. You were warned)
.
What the wiki says is true; Adriun is trying to reclaim his power, and you gotta stop him. The rest of the main quest was pretty awesome. I got to speak to an elder dragon by the name of “Paarthurnax”. You’re told to go to him after asking how to defeat Adriun, and they say about a shout called Dragonrend, but it’s quite dangerous. It turns out this shout was learned by mortals. It’s also a shout all dragons fear.
So you speak with this dragon, and he tells you that you need to retrieve an Elder Scroll and use that to go through time to near the end of the Dragon Wars, to learn this new shout.

Eventually I get the scroll, get the shout, and Adriun pops up to do battle with me. That’s when I learn how to use this shout that can pin a dragon to the ground so he can’t take off and divebomb me with attacks (and that’s why they fear it). I “defeat” him but he manages to fly away. The dragon Paarthurnax tells me I have to capture Adriun’s top ally, and make him talk as to where the pure evil dragon flew off to.

I get that done after having to deal with a peace treaty between the Empire and the Stormcloaks in High Rothgar. It wasn’t pretty too. I ended up siding with the Empire (whosoever’s side you choose, will still complete the quest. This isn’t mentioned in the wiki).

After it’s done, you’re given the Call Dragon shout, which calls the elder dragon “Odahviing” to you when you get to Dragonsreach. You call him, capture, interrogate, and he tells you that Adriun has shown he’s not powerful enough to lead anymore and aids you by flying you to where you must enter a portal to the realm of the dead, called Sovngarde.
It is there where Aldrin feasts on the souls of the fallen to get stronger. What the fuck…

Going there, you got to go to the Hall of Valor and speak with three Mages; the first humans who learned the Thu’um without being Dragonborn. They assist you in defeating Adriun once and for all.

Once Adriun is defeated, I was returned to the Throat of the World (aka, the tallest point in Skyrim). It is there where I saw dragons, everywhere. But they aren’t attacking me. And it’s almost as if they’re saying “Hail to the Dragonborn” and spreading their wings. And I was right. They see me as a dragon. A “wingless dragon”.
Paarthurnax is not happy with what happened, because Adriun was his brother, but understands it had to be done, because Adriun is just pure evil (he reminds me of Deathwing in a way). Then he says something about how he’s taking over as leader of all dragons, and how they will listen to him.
Unfortunately, the Blades, who have been assisting me, actually want me to kill Paarthurnax for what he’s done in the past. He was one of Aldwin’s high-ranking dragons. But this is a part of all the dragons in Skyrim. It’s part of being a true dragon; a flying killing machine. And even some mortals are like this.
He has done his best to suppress this “must kill mortals” urge by strong meditation and learning The Way of the Voice, and knows he can be trusted amongst mortals, even though you and the Graybeards are the only ones that believe in him. That is why he’s taking over to teach his wayward kinfolk how to live amongst mortals and not want to eat them or burn their villages down. This however doesn’t effect gameplay.

Staying there for awhile in the freezing blizzard, still… shocked and blown away after what I saw and heard, Odahviing lands near me and says he will listen to my Thu’um and aid me when he can. Which makes him my dragon ally.

And that’s that. Hope you enjoyed reading these spoilers.

You can never truly complete this game, as it has no ending.
