Just… wow. This was a worthy if not amazing sequel to Dead Space. Even has a “cliffhanger” ending. But maybe it’s not a cliffhanger. Maybe the war will never end and the Necromorths will take over the galaxy.

From start to finish, there’s action. Hardly a dull moment, even when you think it’s safe. You get to the *spoiler here* to turn on the *spoiler here* to get the *spoiler here* working again.
However, there’s parts I feel they overdo it with the Necromorth attack waves. For example, in this area where you gotta go down a few floors. There’s this room. You hear enemies all over the place. You see them. Shoot them.
More come, you shoot them. More come, you shoot them.
Seems to go quiet. You continue, then more show up. Just a fucking endless cycle. And I’m like “COME ON!!”. And this is on Casual.

There’s only one sane person in this game. Everyone else, including you, are being taken over by a new, bigger Marker. All thanks to what happened in Dead Space 1. It even gives you more info of what the crew of infamous planet cracker, the USG Ishimura, did in Aegis VII to retrieve the Marker and what happened to them as a video (you can also get info from the Dead Space Wiki).
It’s explained an Infector (the manta ray-like creatures) came into the ship and started turning the dead in the ship’s morgue into the Necromorths, who killed everyone on the ship. And that’s where the events of Dead Space 1 took place.
.
.

So anyway, three years have passed since Mass Effect 1. Issac Clarke as you know returns in it. You know the Marker is controlling you, and you keep seeing your dead girlfriend wherever you go, telling you to “make us whole”. This makes you too dangerous, and you get sent to Titan Station, a large, city space station orbiting Saturn’s largest moon as a crazy patient in a Mental Hospital.
But soon you find out the Necromorths are onboard and looking for more victims. And you don’t have a gun and you’re in a straight jacket. So you’re forced to run away. Another guy who’s also a patient, tries to kill you, but realizes you’re more useful alive than dead. He “frees” you and gives you a flashlight. It doesn’t fire bullets, but you can smack enemies with it.
Soon you get a Plasma Cutter, similar to the one in DS1. And just intime too, as more Necromorths close in on your location.

With this, there’s a person you never met before who claims she can cure you of your dementia, and says it will kill you if left untreated, and you have to trust her to stay alive. But you must get to her, and that’s no easy feat, since 1/4 of the game is about trying to get to her.

There’s new enemies to decapitate. One is the Spitter who spits acid on you that can burn through your armor, and also slows you down. Another are these.. stalker things that like to get behind boxes and stuff, and charge head-on at you while screaming, when they feel you’re being occupied by other things.

There’s also hazards added to this one, such as these fragile windows put in place for station expansions. If you shoot at one, you get sucked over to it, caught by the emergency blast door, and crushed to death.
In one part, you have to think fast and get to the other side of the room while under attack.

As you progress, you find out there is a some sort of secret cult going on, called “Unitology”. Where they believe the Marker is there to, rebirth the human race as the Necromorths. To worship the Marker. What’s worse, there’s more than just this one in the galaxy. Meaning, there’s more Markers.

There’s a part that made me sick to my stomach. Walking into an elementary school in Titan Station, to see even the babies and the kids weren’t spared the horror of the Necromorths. I know it’s just a game, but… what the fuck were they THINKING?! Even worse, you can hear them crying like babies in their idle state. There’s a text message that states that half of this guy’s 3rd grade class are, claiming they are seeing their deceased loved ones. So even they had dementia.

Also, as you go, every now and then you temporarily lose grasp on reality and can hear Nicole, your dead girlfriend, talking to you to “make us whole”. There were some parts I actually jumped. Like one of her suddenly popping up infront of you and screaming “MAKE US WHOLE!!!!”, then disappearing.
Clarke tries to fight it. It gets worse and worse as you get closer to the end.

You find out there’s four steps in defeating the marker that you helped to build, because the guy that is trying to kill you is a Unitolgist. The third step is actually… very painful. And I’m surprised it didn’t give me nightmares of having my *spoiler here* stabbed by a *spoiler here*.

You find a very large marker at the end, and do a.. non-climatic “boss battle” (you’re basically battling your dementia to regain control of yourself). It was a hell of alot easier than the final boss in Dead Space 1. Just shoot shoot shoot, and “boss” dead. Didn’t even require combat tactics.

Overall, it was really good, and worth the hype. The Anti-Gravity parts are awesome, like the part were you have to realign these solar dishes, and you can clearly see Saturn. It kinda reminds me of Prey.

Wow. Just… wow. This was a worthy if not amazing sequel to Dead Space.
