\nBut what I know is something about it came a few weeks ago, and the devs have been overhyping it (instead of.. ya know, actually FIXING THEIR GAME?!) But what I barely know about it, they’re asking everyone to help test it for the ‘Oculus Quest’ thing. Doing a quick Google search, think of a VR set without actually needing a $2,000+ PC for VR. And also picture this thing having pretty much every highly praised VR game on the
\nplanet, inside the headset.
\n“DAMN!!” you might say, “thing’s probably $5k!” Actually, no<\/strong>. It’s only.. $400. So
\nmy (and probably your) question is, “what’s the specs?” And as with everything, Oculus isn’t going to tell you according to the official page<\/a> of the headset.
\nAlso, I do not<\/em> like the shape of the controllers…

\nWHAT even IS this thing?! Where’s the touchpad?? And the ring looks like a fucking alien! Comparing this to WindowsMR controllers, I’ll gladly keep mine (even though they love to roll off my lap constantly).

\nAnyway, let’s get back to this ‘VRChat Quest’ thing and why they want people to test it. First off, you need an Oculus Go. So, you need a specific headset, to help the devs do development for another<\/em> headset. And if that’s not BS enough, they have no plans to actually make a version of VRChat for the Oculus Go.
\nOk, say you’re not phased about all of this and are all “this is the future of VR! I’ll gladly help test it because I have rich parents or a high paying job as saving money is for peasants!!”<\/em>. So you finally get your own Oculus Quest and then you start
\nwondering “wait, how am I going to be able to publish my avatars\/worlds without Unity?!” Just use your Android device (it’s never specified in this slideshow<\/a>) and do what you would normally do. Also, you can let PC users on your worlds by using the Cross-Platform content link. PC(VR or Desktop) users can also do the same thing by allowing Quest users to access their content.

\nNow, comes the kicker of why the Oculus Quest is ‘only $400’. Avatars and Worlds are currently having some restrictions. Huh..? Restrictions they say? Folks, I’ll be frank. This ‘Oculus Quest’ (from what I’m seeing) is like WMR for me; it’s entry-level VR, and hearing the word “restrictions” (such as NO dynamic bones for avatars, and suggested joining a world with 10 or less people), is like.. are they trying<\/em> to sell my PC hardware and throw it into a VR headset? WTF?! I expected this thing costing at least $700+ for the fact it doesn’t require a mid or high-end PC for an optimal VR experience!
\nIn other words, this thing is literally.. the future of consoles. Instead of PC VS Console, it’s going to be PC -VS- PC’less VR -VS- Console. I mean, it’s good for what it’s doing; getting more people to experience VR for the first time in their lives — is<\/em> pretty awesome — and the $400 MSRP is definitely a good way to do that.. but if you want 90FPS with 15+
\npeople (and the mirror on) when you’re playing VRChat in VR..? Don’t bother with this.<\/p>\n
